Who’s information has been made public?
You want a candidate who openly breaks the law, and also you don’t want it possible to investigate them?

With more tax laws on the books than you can read in a lifetime, most if not all Americans are committing crimes. Its just a matter of how motivated they are to find it. With Trump, motivation is at extreme levels.

Then why did he say - repeatedly - that he would, as soon as the audit was over?

I thought dems wanted to reduce law enforcement.

You don't honestly believe that the Dems will keep anything they find private, do you? Lets say it brings Trump down, do you think this monster you created won't be hungry again? When if you become politically inconvenient and the mighty tax monster comes to your door?

Worst case is that you have Trump 4 more years. The power you give up is permanent.

It’s not a new power, you should read the ruling and the hundreds of years of precedent they cite.

Their measure for what is "unreasonable" is "whatever may be politically inconvenient for me or people who I like."

And it was a good line for his campaign. He was basically telling everyone that he is SO rich and successful that his audits take a long time. But when it was over he would happily turn them over. Now, different story. I wonder how it will play out with this election?

My favorite part here is the timeline:
    1) Trump promises to release his tax returns if he runs
    2) Trump runs
    3) Trump says he can't release his tax returns because he is under audit. There is, of course, nothing preventing him from releasing his tax returns while under audit, and no one has been able to confirm that he is actually under audit anyway.
    4) Trump wins
    5) Trump keeps up the audit excuse
    6) WH changes course and says Trump will not even release his tax returns after he is no longer under audit because he won

So he says he's willing to release his tax returns after the audit . . . but then he won't release them because he won . . . so we are supposed to believe he was really only offering to release his tax returns if he lost . . . riiiiiiiight

While abuse of power is not new, the efforts against Trump are unprecedented. It would be unreasonable to believe that this is being done in the interest of justice. You break laws on a regular basis. Should we unleash this beast on you?

I have as much faith in the powers that be holding the Trump crime family responsible as they did with the war crime riddled Bush administration. Sorry, but that is the likely scenario in this overtly corrupt country.

An American President is not above the law.
SO YOU SHOULDN'T CALL JUDGES FAKE AND THEN BE SURPRISED IF THEY RULE AGAINST YOU!

All of them so far. Is Trump really so great that Dems have to resort to these tactics? Can't they just make a better product to sell to voters?

there was no payoff, Biden has nothing to hide, so I suspect he will release his taxes, unlike Trump who does have something to hide

Did anyone catch Tony Schwartz's comment on CNN within the last hour? For those of you who may not know who Tony Schwartz is, he was Trump's co-author on the Art of the Deal. Asked about this ruling, he thinks that if Trump sees he's going to lose the November election that he will be prosecuted, so in order to avoid that, Trump will resign so that Pence could pardon him.

    Thoughts?

I believe Trump would do that after he lost, but before the next President takes over

Considering presidential candidates are not a requirement in the Constitution but started by one president has made it a tradition. The Supreme Court should not have ruled on this. They certainly have more important cases to rule on.

Do you think a Pence pardon would also apply to the whole Trump clan, or just Donald?

Why, follow the rule of law, obviously. What are you going to do if they show he’s a lying crook in hock to his commie cronies?
Will you people man up about trump or will you just pick a new brain fart to whine about?
At what point do you people say, ‘enough’ to this deplorable dotard who’s harming America at home and abroad?

First provide the evidence Trump broke a law. This is nothing more than a witch hunt. Trump has no legal reason to show his income taxes.

    1. Are presidents required to release their tax returns?

Presidents aren’t required by law to release their tax returns. Nevertheless, between 1974 and 2012, every president but Gerald Ford has made a voluntary release of the tax returns they filed while in office. Ford released no complete returns, but released 10 years of summary data including gross income, taxable income, major deductions, and taxes paid.
