Many small farms (family farms) have been going out of business steadily in the last several years...they can't compete with corporate farms.

Do you have any idea how much money it takes to "start" a farm ?

Will there be a school for farming for those who don't have a clue what it's about?

How much will that cost and how long will it take?

Then there's business school to learn how to run a farm...

Then there's more rural schools and buses to get the farm kids to school.

Then there will need to be more rural clinics and hospitals...

Where would the money come from?

Even so ,all the above applies...

Most people do not know how to farm, subsistence farm, or plant a potato...or store enough food to last through 9 months of winter....or want to wash their clothes in metal tubs...

OR want to work that bloody hard !!

The Supremes cannot undo the literal land grab that government let loose in the late 19th centuryno matter what song they sing.

The government has eminent domain. They can take anything Americans need whenever they want. We might as well let someone use it to profit and pay taxes on it until then.

    Eh yeah kinda.

Yeah but was that because of economic needs, or because Alaska was trying to become a state?

For Alaska I guess a bit of both. I would have loved to have grown up in Alaska and been able to hunt and fish all that I wanted. But seriously it would have been hard work.

The actual story according to mom as to why "we" did not go to Alaska was because when dad said we need to go there my mom told him to look at a world map. She pointed to Alaska and then to Russia / Siberia. She told him. "Too close". She told him that she avoided being taken by the Russians in Germany because she and my future dad were in camps liberated by the US Army and not the Soviets. She wanted no part of being near Russia.

Maybe it's that I feel like we've been shelling them out for 30 or 40 years already. (Poorly. I might add)

A great reason to do the reparations thing - get it over & done with.

I would have to be convinced. Right now I'm on the other side of the fence. Perhaps there are creative solutions that those with a higher pay grade can put into action.

Get real. You pay reparations to Blacks once and you'll be paying it repeatedly until the end of time.

    Ha!

If it qualifies as a drug, sure.

Best bet is to turn all pharmaceuticals over, including weed.

Black conservatives who don't want weed money can get aspirin money.

I've been a landowner before, and it is NOT a 'bed of roses', especially in counties that are infested by liberals.

So you get a few acres of raw land -- guess what happens! Whatever PUBLIC SCHOOL DISTRICT you have the misfortune to be inside of extorts monstrous, ever-increasing property taxes from you, and finally it becomes financially impossible for you to justify keeping it.

Take a good look at how your property taxes are actually spent sometime, and see how much of it the 'education industry' gets -- usually at least 70%, or more. That's why your streets, roads, bridges, curbs, gutters, and other systems have been so badly neglected -- the SCHOOLS suck up all the money! You may not even have children in their schools, but you MUST pay anyway!

So, unless you can get the land with a big tax exemption, when they come to GIVE you land, tell them 'thanks, but no thanks'.

Yes, I support abolishing property taxes and replacing them (if necessary) with other, more voluntary taxes, like luxury and/or import taxes. We need not be renting our property from the govt.

That reminds me of a story my old english teach once told me. His family grew up in Rome NY, which was one of the top 10 targets for Russia to nuke because of the airbase in the area. His family grew up in the richest part of town- the part that was most likely to be nuked. If the Ruskies ever nuked them, they would be instantly gone, wouldn't feel any pain or nothing.

Your teacher was right. Many places in the North East were targets for military but also manufacturing reasons. I grew up 5 miles from Pratt and Whitney aircraft engine manufacturer, before moving to the edge of the city I fished off a pier within sight of Colts Firearms Co. within 10-12 miles of Kaman Helicopter Co., 45 miles within a major sub base, 70 miles from Sikorsky Helicopter Co. and 35 miles from a SAC base -Westover AFB. My dad used tompint that out.

why was the richest part of town the most likely to be nuked? I doubt the richest part of the town was the part closest to the air base.

I won't lie, I'm glad I was born after the cold war. I just have to worry about terrorists.

Because if it was nuked, nobody would feel pain, which was a blessing in of itself. Further out the nuclear radiation would cause longer lasting effects or kill you in a more painful manner. The idea was to avoid suffering.

I would rather the government give every citizen a break from it's overreach.

It would never be done with. First of all there would be lawsuits for years. Second of all reparations wouldn't be enough for the left. They would continue to demand things because of something none of us had anything to do with.
