well is their classfied documents, all consulate and embassy has those. if china order some US consulate in china to close the next day, we will be shredding/burning classfied material too.

Trump want to shift its incompetence of mishandle covid to china, thats why now. its political

Of course the virus began in China and Trump was excoriated for being racist for singling them out at the time but this thread is about the actions of the Chinese consulate and while a consulate has the right to dispose of it’s documents as it wishes, it does look a bit suspicious.

consulate has alot classfied material thats true for any countries consulate/embassy. no one gonna leave those material for their adversary to grab. burning is the best way to destroy it. consulate is basically foreign land on US soil, its doesn't allow others get in without their approval, so its best place to store classfied materials

I want to know why China has a consulate in Houston? Who decided that was a good idea?

Again extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. Too bad Carl Sagan is dead.

    The bounties ? What bounties?

You must have missed the memo? Selective perception?

    Lol.

China doest steal intellectual property. Lol

China plays by the rules...always. Lol

They just burn documents for shits and giggles. You work for the CCP?

Either that or you are so naive as to how the world works.

I won't waste my time with links proving what is common knowledge. You wouldn't believe it anyways. Perhaps someone else will waste their time on you.

China is ruled by the communists. Need evidence? Lol

Sagan would laugh at you. If alive today.

The building is being shutdown and will eventually be gone through. Any classified communications, such as "this is how we want you to play strategy on X issue as our ambassador" would be destroyed not carried home. Standard for all nations, not just the commies. We'd be doing the same thing when our embassies closed.

and start another cold war or maybe hot war. feel so safe now with Trump, with covid rampage and relation with other countries all time low. btw how Trump bro in NK doing? last time i heard, they dont want talk to trump anymore. oh and dont forget iran situation is much worse now compare to few years before. Now i heard china prepare to sell weapons to Iran and establish multi-billions deals with them, same with russia. Trump has no strategy cunning, give him a hammer, all he see is nails.

Never a good idea to shut down Consulates unless you are wanting war - and that is totally independent on anything anyone may have or not have done.

    Bout time too.

Offshoring much of our value added jobs to communist China was insanity.

And they got away with too much for decades! They arose in power thanks to this govt and the greed of our elites.

    Beyond stupid!

You don't seem to understand a consulate's function. It helps its ex pats who are in the country with various matters in that country like navigating legal matters.
Just a few simple examples: American consulates help american ex pats with filing forms, they act as notaries, they help you with sending your taxes back, they help with getting a foreign marriage recognized, they help with visa and citizenship applications etc etc.
That's why they tend to exist in large cities, particularly those that are international travel hubs like Houston (large port, multiple large airports).

problem with that is when American need help in China or HK, they can't goto local consulate. one of the point of multiple consulate in different location is help its own citizen in the area when needed. also can serve the countries interest in the area, for example defector/asylm seeker or hide out for intel employees, kind serve as hub.

now imagine if China shut down US consulate in HK or one if its large cities. hong kong have alot american ex-pat, what do they do if they need help?

Shutting a Consulate is an act of agression although the US has a bad reputation for this. It stole the Venezuela one and gave it to a terrorist and theif.

So nay problem you believe. Looks like it is an election ploy
