Many people answer their door prepared to defend themselves, especially if they live in a rough neighborhood.

Some criminals get people to open their doors by say they are the police. They use all kinds of ruses.

The peephole would NOT have helped him as both cops were out of the line of vision.

This is not rewritten to fit any narrative.

Did you notice the cop on the far left (before the door is opened) had his weapon drawn and pointed at the door? Why would that be necessary for a noise complaint? Something isn't adding up here.

Maybe you could include that when responding to posts with videos as no one has a way of knowing that upfront. I hope you don't mind the suggestion.

Totally justified shoot, you can see the suspect try to conceal the gun behind his back and then start bringing it around towards the other officer prompting his oppo to open fire. They have no case to answer.

You're right, many things about this ruthless killing don't add up beginning with the 911 caller's willingness to say anything to get the police to show up sooner .
I think that that set the stage for a violent outcome as much as any other factor

The 911 caller reported that there was a violent domestic dispute in progress so I suppose that the police were anticipating a violent situation and that's why they showed up with guns drawn.

That still doesn't explain away the fact that the LEOs were grossly incompetent and that this killing is far more egregious than the recent shootings of Black suspects who were completely uncooperative.

The following source describes events in greater detail:

"It started as a noise complaint. It ended in another fatal Phoenix police shooting"
    https://www.azcentral.com/story/new...tal-police-shooting-ryan-whitaker/5459142002/
EXCERPT "Three seconds after Whitaker opened the door, Phoenix Officer Jeff Cooke shot Whitaker in the back at least two times, killing the 40-year-old man." CONTINUED

I'm not familiar with metered internet but I am intimately familiar with being corrected many times a day.

I noted an article in my Post above that describes the incident in greater detail.

In a fascist state, the police are always right. Is not it?

The shooting cop was all wrong. The only mistake the resident made was not asking through the door what they wanted.

But he was in his house. Only in a fascist state is it possible that the police violate the inviolability of private property without justification and at the same time kill a person living there.
An outsider reporting noise is not a pretext for killing a person.
If some person unfoundedly accuses you of something, does the police have the right to kill you? This is possible only in a fascist dictatorship.

I think that the 911 caller helped set the stage for this tragedy by mischaracterizing "noise" as a violent domestic altercation.

Yes. He could. And in this case, the police are complicit in the murder. And possibly by prior arrangement.

Is that normal cop training to knock and then step off to the side so no one can see if ur legit? Because thats just begging for someone to think its not really cops and become defensive.

Yes. It's to protect the officer in case someone inside shoots through the door.

At some point someone has to take a risk. Either the resident has to answer the door to someone who might be falsely claiming to be a cop to get inside, or the cop has to make himself visible to prove his claim that anyone could make.

I was gonna say if you answer the door to the cops while holding a gun, expect to get shot. But not so much when the cops won't even let you see them.

It's standard procedure to stand in front of anything that you can't see behind. That is why the officer that shot did not go inside the apartment. They asked if anyone was inside but neither officer entered (not during the recordings anyway) because of the unknown. So, it's not a matter of taking risks. It's a matter of following procedure and living to see another day.

Edited to add: This situation could have been avoided if many different things had happened that night.

It looked like he held the gun in his right hand behind his right leg and when he saw it was cops he squatted and started bring the gun around, perhaps to put it down. From the angle of the guy who shot him it may have appeared as if he was bringing the gun around to aim at his partner.

    All true.

Except they step away from the peep hole after knocking so they can't be seen.

When police knock on my door, I expect to see police. Not no one. That instantly makes me suspect a trap.

Granted, I don't blindly run out with a gun either, thats stupid even if there are criminals. But if they're gonna be knocking on someones door and then hiding, they gotta expect to be making them suspicious/defensive.

That could be the case. Maybe the shooter will explain it that way when he gets his day in court.

That is a mistake. It should read "It's standard procedure to NOT stand in front of anything that you can't see behind."

As I mentioned, it is police procedure to not stand in front of a closed door. With that said, I think it would have helped if the occupant had asked who it was before opening the door with a weapon. It would have still been a 50-50 chance (50% it being a criminal) but those odds are better than opening the door to the cops with a weapon. Tragic for all parties.

So its standard to open the door come charging out with a gun in your hand? Then try to hide that gun behind your back when its the police.

    Yeah no. Not buying it.
