So the city of Minneapolis lets, repeat, LETS rioters destroy businesses and kill the jobs that came with them. So instead of punishing the rioters who looted and burned down those stores by making them pay reparations, they city is making the businesses jump through hoops if they want to rebuild. Many are thinking about leaving.

This is so typical of democrats.

Additional links are in the story.

I'd take my insurance money and leave immediately after filing a civil suit against the city.

The business paid "protection money" in the form of taxes. The city refused to protect them. And now, the city wants more money before they are allowed to rebuild their business. That's extortion and taxation without representation at a minimum.

The smart move would be to rebuild elsewhere.

You will not automatically be able to take your insurance money and run. If you do not rebuild you get ACV -actual cash value. If you do not own the building the owner decides to rebuild or not, not you. You my collect business interruption insurance but will be finite.

If you lease your property coverage covers your stock but if you owe your suppliers you are SOL. You will not win against us us insurance companies , we are in business to make money we are not the Salvation Army.

I doubt many have rioters insurance in an area like that. Wouldn't be affordable to most. Even the larger companies have told them they are not rebuilding.

Why would you invest, in a private business, that the city won't even protect. And what insurance company is going to give you rioters insurance moving forward knowing the elected members of the community will not provide their defunded police force to protect.

I migrated from property casualty insurance to health insurance my. last 20 years before retirement but my memory is that propert insurers had the riots, civil disturbance, war, insurrection, and nuclear war exclusion in their policies. Doubt there would even be any claim reps alive after a nuke war. That excision made me laugh in Claim Rep school.

The best thing to do is leave. Let the city crumble. Sadly, the politicians will just leave too. They got their money. Whoever is left suffers while the MSM allows Leftist politicians to run roughshod over people lives.

I fail to see how this is ransom. It gives them a way to establish the value through a certain date and then start over with a new valuation once the rebuild is complete. The alternative in my city is to pay your entire tax due as if the building were there and undamaged and then apply for a refund based on the date of demolition.

Except the ones who voted for Democrats.

Those people should stay and appreciate what they have built.

Not too sure about that. There is an ethnic link to liberalism in MN and I am talking about white people. I say this as a white person with roots in northern MN.

And, it has ALREADY been reversed

Though Minneapolis officials will no longer force property owners to pay their taxes for a demolition permit, a spokeswoman for the city said that individuals who clear their lots without first paying their taxes will be “guilty of a gross misdemeanor.”
However, city and county officials told the Star Tribune that they would not enforce that law and will not be citing any property owners or contractors who go ahead with demolition work without first paying the taxes.

“Due to the unrest and the mass destruction, properties that have been determined to be an unsafe and health risk are being encouraged to remove the debris,” Minneapolis spokeswoman Sarah McKenzie said in a written response to questions. “We are going to be handling this appropriately in the best interest for the citizens of Minneapolis effective today.”

Only after you rethink everything you ever learned and estimate how far the fungus will spread.

Opening a bait shop or a gunsmith shop way out in the boonies is an option you must consider.
