“Today, I cast my DNC ballot and voted NO on the proposed platform,” Tlaib tweeted on Saturday along with a photo of her ballot. “I constantly hear from constituents demanding we push for a single-payer system and away from this for-profit system that is leaving people to suffer and die just because they cannot afford health care.”

...“As a party, we must push for a future where every resident has the ability to thrive,” she continued. “That means we need a platform that works to rid our society of oppression and greed. Unfortunately, in my view this platform does not do enough.”

...Tlaib, who is a member of the so-called squad of liberal freshman congresswomen, also revealed that she nominated Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders for president instead of presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Biden.

Sanders dropped out of the presidential race in April, after securing an endorsement from Tlaib.

Looks like the friction in the democrat party continues, even as the DNC starts this week.

The left wing of the Democrat party see's the DNC and Biden as not going far enough and tend to support Bernie Sanders.

It will be interesting to see where this goes.

Means nothing, Harold Stassen's name was put into nomination eight times at the GOP Convention, did it ever divide the party, no, just her taking a stance, besides, Bernie and AOC has endorsed Biden, all that is needed from that wing of the party

Democrats have a platform this time? That would be major news.

    Good luck with that.

The "AOC/Bernie/Tlaib" Wing of the Party are Overwhelmingly Supporting Biden.

They are Pragmatic (and understand the reality of a BINARY Choice).

    Back to the drawing board.

It's all good. Harris didn't really mean Joe was racist, either... it was just a debate, after all.

    They'll fall in line shortly.

For the same reason Mitt Romney is going to contest Trump's name on the ballot.

Well it makes sense....Establishment Democrats and Progressives are not the same thing by any means. The Far Left has been trying to takeover the Democrat Party for years and Joe Biden isn't exactly Far Left he just sort of started entertaining that stuff because that's what the young base wants. Tlaib is part of the new wave of radical far left folks of course she isn't gonna like someone like Biden.

If there was ANYBODY other than Donald Trump in the White House then we'd be seeing establishment Democrats throwing haymakers at the Progressive Far Left on a daily basis. They are allies out of necessity due to a common enemy (Trump), they don't exactly like each other. It's not hard to see, earlier this year there was a civil war within the Democrat Party with the normal Dems vs the Far Left. And then of course Trump decided to open his mouth like he always does and then they collectively turned their guns around on him because they hate him more than they hate each other and Trump never knows when to shut up.

    This isn't a problem. I don't demand a cyborglike uniformity among Dems. She's fine.

Romney has no following in the Republican party anymore, Tlaib does and if Biden loses 10% of his base and 10% of the black vote he could be toast.

Having Tlaib disapprove of Biden just gives Biden more credibility as a centrist, and the centrist Independent voters are the ones who swing elections.
The base of both parties is pretty much locked in this year.

Well he has a point. The radical left wing is nowhere near as popular among average Americans as either they or the media tries to make themselves seem. Pretty evident by the absolute massacre of Bernie Sanders during his most recent futile attempt to become the Democrat nominee. The entire "base" of the far left is comprised primarily of young white college kids and celebrities, neither of which actually represent the real world sentiments of average Americans.

Tlaib, AOC, Bernie, etc are not popular people outside of their own niche of supporters who just happen to be the generation who knows how to flood social media. Even the media doesn't like them which is why the likes of CNN did everything in their power to trash on Bernie earlier this year when Biden was in trouble which led Bernie to say that Fox News of all places was the most "fair" to him.

This likely is a good thing for Biden, he would do well to distance himself from the far left. Biden is an establishment Democrat and all he really needs to do is appeal to the independent voters that he is "better" than Trump, not that he's "good" or capable of accomplishing anything, but he's better than Trump. You start getting supported by the radicals of the far left and that may lead many independent voters to say "ok we hate Trump but we hate the far left more" because the reality is that the radical far left is not popular among anybody other than the radical far left.

Like I said, if ANYBODY other than Trump were President then Biden and the rest of the establishment Democrats would have KO'd the far left long ago. The only thing keeping that alliance together is the fact that they hate Trump more than they hate each other.

disagree, the radicalisation of American independents is slow but sure.

the only reason President Trump lost the house of reps was because he came too soon to power.

our charts show that the President will be re-elected and both houses of congress will have strong Republican majorities.

History says that Presidents who take their country into recessions do not get reelected nor does their party do well.

Trump has taken the country into a recession.
GDP has been negative for last two quarters and will be the next.
The stock market is lagging behind real world economic problems.
Trump has signed off on the largest National Debt increases in history (Obama raised the debt $8.9 trillion in 8 years, Trump will match that in just 4 years).
Trump has been President while the unemployment rate has jumped over 10% - and will stay in that general area till well after the election.

It's the economy, stupid - is the saying of the day.

Tlaib was reelected this month and so she's bulletproof as she prances the light fantastic preaching Marx by the tanker-load. Within her own district, despite big money and strong opposition by numerous prominent local blacks, Tlaib breezed past black Brenda Lawrence. Little Ms. "Impeach the Mother******" can say just about anything she wants and they'll let her do it. Question is, will it matter?

Back in the mid-60s the conventional journalistic worldview about voters was they don't pay attention to the elections until mid-September and their kids are back in school, allowing theoretical more time to study the issues, ponder the implications, discuss these views with friends and then walk up to that cubicle and have NO idea if they'll be any better than the last bunch...but we all do indeed live for hope.

this time we had time to read up.

The Democrats' overall silence regarding riots and violence have encouraged the violence and destruction, and it actually is very likely that Tlaib's hard-left crackpots do see Biden as malleable, and his newly-minted putative successor as just another one of the Squad, someone who's already joined but doesn't carry their card.
