You guys realize that millions of Americans use Absentee Ballots (hell, Trip uses them) and that slowing down Postal service around the election increases the likelihood that thousands of real, legitimate absentee ballots won't reach their destinations, right.

You also realize that if Trump isn't legally re-elected and installed in office by January 20th, that Pence is out as well.
And if the election is ruled void by the Supreme Court (say that Trump sues claiming that the election ballots are falsified) that The House of Representatives is forced to pick the new President by that date.

What possible outcome do you see here? Except for grandstanding, what is Pelosi going to achieve here? She can't get a law signed. She can't make the Senate move. All she has is the spectacle of herself looking every bit the tyrant she's become.

Cheat-by-mail would overstress the existing USPS capacity for being able to deliver mail, which is already a pretty lousy record. I did read the USPS is temporarily increasing pricing to try and make up for some of its poor financial performance.

 

nobody has issues with absentee ballots. Go request yours at your registers today and get the process rolling so the ballot gets in in time.

i’ve not had any issues with my mail, but some areas might have but sadly the Post Office has had issues since the obama years and needs to be fixed. If you want your absentee vote to count you need to prepare for it...that or to be sure listen to the expert, De Fauci and go vote in person

The House can put together a funding package for the Post Office that's ready on the day the Senate returns - otherwise it's going to be delayed while it's hashed out in committee. I'm sorry that you don't understand how spending bills become law.

Maybe he was referring to the fact that the President would still have to sign it, or that the Senate might not take it up when they get back.

 

If Democrats really wanted it to pass, all they had to do was put together a CLEAN bill without pork or other unrelated laws, and extend the prior act. A one-pager would suffice.

You realize Absentee ballots go through the mail, right? If Trump is defunding the Post Office to the extent that it slows down other forms of mail in ballots, it will slow down Absentee ballots as well, right?

Possibly, but the volume of mail would be substantially more with cheat-by-mail. Frankly, cheat-by-mail is just not something you try to put into place when you're just months away from an election.

Spending originates in the House. They did have a $1.5 trillion proposal, though. So, the Senate was ready for a clean bill.

 

The House does what it can do - and what they can do is have a bill that's ready for the Senate on the day the Senate returns.
They can call the Post Master General to testify before Congress what his intentions are so that the American People can put pressure on the Senate and President to not slow down the mail during an election where millions of Absentee votes are cast.

They could put a moratorium on junk mail for three months, too, to help cut down the work load.

That's correct. My post isn't quite clear - the Senate had a $1-1.5 trillion proposal they wanted to negotiate.

 

First off, Trump hasn't defunded USPS. Thats just another fake leftist talking point. He canned Pelosi's request to throw 25 billion at USPS for her vote by mail agenda.

Second, no matter how much money you throw at USPS, there is no way they could be ready for an entire nation to vote by mail in 90 days. It took years just to get absentee votes close to being right and they still have an unacceptable loss of votes not counted to date.

Then you have the ballot harvesters who would be out in masses. Why would anyone think having your ballot out of the chain of custody is a good idea given the fact we have already seen those results in California and Brevard county Florida in 2018.
