No, I didn’t hear a number. They were asking somewhere in the neighborhood of $275 million, but I am sure that they did not expect to get that much, but probably assured themselves of a settlement in the millions. He also settled with WaPo and there are a few lawsuits pending.

That doesn’t seem to be the opinion of anyone with a lick of sense when it comes to litigation.

    A coupe of points:

Nick Sandman basically contradicted himself during his speech when he claimed no one is treated more unfairly by the media than President Trump... simply by being there.

The shareholders of CNN are more than happy to see CNN make themselves the topic of a news story, no matter what the cost is to the rest of the country. Remember, this isn't about left wing media or right wing media, it's all corporate media.

A private, off the record, bowl me over, joke fest is hardly a matter of serious counsel in need of criticism. Many men and women speak that way, and worse in private, from time to time. As for the childish nicknames, I could do without it. However it causes no real harm to the nation as does the general vision of the left.

Laughable at best. He most likely got every dime. Big law firms on contention, don't settle for pennies, when they have a 17 year old kid that a major media mogul knowing falsified national information that created hundreds of death threats to the kid and his family and forced the closing of their school.

Not to mention all they had to do was to put this in front of a jury and it would be national news plus a huge win. CNN and MSNBC settled without even filing an answer, asking for discovery, or deposing anyone.

It was better to pay now than get their asses handed to them in front of the world and still have to pay.

But you keep those leftist ideas coming. We do enjoy the entertainment value,

I guess thats why CNN and MSNBC settled without even answering the lawsuit or filing anything in defense. They got their asses handed to them with 6 more to go.

Really? You do all that and THEN settle?? Not the way it works... Settlements are meant to be cheaper than going the other route.

My guess is the kid smirked....err......walked away with 100K, between the 2 settlements.... Not bad pay for being a junior dick...

    Thats their MO.

Theyll attempt to intimidate children, the old, women, business owners just trying to make a living.

What they won't do is show up at a Biker Bar or construction site and start protesting.

WRONG, Settlements are usually accomplished for two reasons.

    1. You forego the process because you are unsure of the outcome and a guaranteed chunk now is better then the risk
    2. You pay someone off because you are going to lose more if you don't settle.

When they don't even answer the lawsuit or file anything in their defense, but settle anyway, its because they have more to lose.

The coffee she was given was at like 150 degrees...

Nobody was laughing at her, and McDonalds readily admitted that the coffee she was given was much hotter than anybody should ever drink.

But yea, **** her for spilling it I guess.

If smiling at someone is enough to hurt your feelings, you should just stay home forever to avoid any upsetting circumstances.

Or it just turns out cheaper to throw a few bucks at someone than it would be to mount a legal defense, even if the legal defense has a high probability of success.

This kid’s parents and lawyers knew they just needed to make nuisances of themselves until someone gave them money to go away.

She also called Harvey Weinstein a “wonderful human being” and a “good friend.” She even let her daughter intern with him. She sure is a poor judge of character...

Your boy Mark Zaid is either an idiot or a paid leftist BS'er.

I have been involved in hundreds of cases. Defendants NEVER offer a settlement without answering the lawsuit unless they are covering something up. And Sandmans attorney is no joke either. he would LOVE to have his name in lights hosting a jury on this case. He took it on contention for the publicity.

Why would he take some idiotic offer over a few hundreds of millions in publicity and a win on top. But you keep dreaming

#1 is why the kid settled...
#2 is obvious, but you still don't go through the expensive process of depositions and discovery and such if you can make it go away for nuisance value.

Agree with @DaveBN .... Zaid knows a lot more about this stuff than we do....

CNN has their own staff of attorneys. They would have answered the suit with their evidence that Sandman was lying if they had it.

Now they have to face the music of settling to buy off a complaint where they were accused of knowingly falsifying the story.

You don't know squat about how this works.

Really? You don’t talk like that’s true. How bout you post up some credentials boss. I’m calling BS.

Here’s what I could find on Mark Zaid:
“Zaid is a 1989 graduate of the University of Rochester, and a 1992 graduate of Albany Law School of Union University in New York, where he served as an associate editor of the Albany Law Review.[5]

While a student at Albany Law School, Zaid interned in the office of New York Lieutenant Governor Stan Lundine.“
