RNC Night 4 started with testimonials from 1st-time Republican (and Trump) voters. Converts who were Democrats and one Democrat Socialist discussed reasons why that moved away from the left to the more classically liberal Republican traditions and values.

    Convention Night 4

People in NYC public housing thanking Trump for investing in inner-city housing for the first time 1997. They're expressing grievance over DiBlasio placing new illegal immigrants in NYC housing projects while Black Americans have been sitting 10 years on waiting lists. Praise for Ben Carson as HUD Secretary.

Ann Dorn, wife and widow of police officer David Dorn, talks about her experience of having her husband murdered by rioters and looters, stemming from the violence associated with BLM protests. She's says these kids are acting like life is a video game, but you cannot just hit a "Reset" button and make everything okay. America has to heal, but it can't heal under devastation and chaos.

Ben Carson talking about the destruction and violence in Kenosha and says we need hope and to show how humans are supposed to treat each other, with love for our fellow citizens. Trump is courageous, doesn't play identity politics, and knows that healthy economy raises all boats, and knows how to make it happen. Trump knows that regardless of circumstances a person is born into, that educational choice can allow anyone to succeed.

NYC Police Union President endorses Trump. Talks about how crime rates and murders of innocents have skyrocketed because of Democrat leaders defunding police departments. Says the radical left wants "no policing" and that the city is complying with them.

Yes, you can watch the DNC Convention on YouTube (as well as any of the RNC nights you might have missed).

There is a marked difference between the two presentations.

I watched two nights of the Dem convention, got busy with other things, and only tonight I'm watching the Republican convention.

I'll tell you, I'm finding the GOP convention, at least the limited chunk of it I've seen, more effective than the half of the Dem convention i watched.

This is not to say I agree with all the ideas being expressed in either convention. As a centrist I agree with the Dems in some issues, and agree with the Republicans in some other issues. What I'm saying is, this GOP convention seems more effective to me. Quite impressive.

But let's see the main event.

I found Joe Biden's speech incredibly effective. I'm curious to see if Trump will match or surpass that. Coming soon.

That is strange because Trump usually says that he loves the uneducated, and he doesn't strike me as someone who values science and education.

I just narrating what is being said. Trump has put a lot of energy into education programs though, and is for school choice and charter schools versus forcing kids to attend the public school closest to their neighborhood.

I don't know. He and Trump have been friends for decades and Trump is loyal to his friends, but Giuliani has really drug Trump down at times. He shouldn't have been doing some independent investigation in Ukraine, outside of the Barr-Durham work. Then he went on Fox blabbing about it. He just sounded nuts to me.

It's just my opinion. Giuliani has seen better days. Loved him when he was New York's Mayor.

Tom Cotton talking about China, and fentanyl imports killing our people in the drug epidemic. Talking about China threat in general, and how Trump has stood up and been strong against the threats. Says Biden will be weak against China and they'll take advantage of us, like they were doing before Trump.

Biden has made a fundamental mistake that may very well cost him the election. He has always been a law and order guy. He's been for harsh sentencing guidelines. He picked a veep who was a rather harsh former prosecutor.

Still, he allowed the GOP to depict him as a fan of defunding the police and someone who endorses anarchy and lawlessness, which is the whole insisting theme of this final night of the Republican convention.

I guess he didn't strongly condemn the riots and looting and all, because he didn't want to alienate the far left wing of his party. But what he is not considering is that he may be alienating the center of the political spectrum and the independents.

It's very atypical because I'm utterly convinced that Biden *is* a law and order guy.

86% of Americans, in a YouGov poll I saw, oppose "defunding the police."

Biden should have strongly said in his speech, "while I support the right of Americans to protest and advocate for their causes and I do empathize with their pleas, I do NOT support anarchy, chaos, and lawlessness; I do NOT support the insane idea of defunding the police, and under my administration this will NOT be tolerated. Law and Order are necessary to a civilized society, and we need to solve our differences and implement change not by setting fire to stuff, looting stores, and intimidating people, but by believing in due process, the rule of law, and the democratic institutions."

Allowing the GOP to define him as the anarchy and lawlessness candidate will likely cost him the election, regardless of the support of the left wing of his party.

Carl and Marsha Mueller ..daughter (humanitarian aid worker in India) killed by ISIS in Syria while helping at a hospital. She was held hostage for 18 months, raped by Al Bagdadi. Obama refused to meet with them and they have never heard from Joe Biden to this day. The top-level planners and soldiers who killed Al Bagdadi during the Trump Administration named the task force and strike force mission for Kayla in her memory.

Alice Johnson...one of the first people to have her jail sentence reduced and be freed early under Trump's First Step Act, criminal reform bill. She looks really great.

I'm talking more about superior education and the high sciences. I do not see Trump as someone who is willing to listen to scientists, at all, with dire consequences. It's interesting to see that the government these days that is most supportive of Science is no longer the United States (we were the leaders on this for decades), but rather, tiny Singapore. They are the world leaders in average IQ (108 versus our 98 ) and everything the government does there, is weighed against the advice of their scientists. Their scientific production, for a country of 5.7 million inhabitants, is hugely impressive. This is the most rational government on Earth. Over here, I feel that sometimes we're mimicking the movie Idiocracy.

You got that right. It's like some weird and surreal hybrid of Idiocracy and 1984. That's was happening before the last 3.5 years though. Our lapse in educational quality goes all the way back to the 70's when we started a Federal education agency.

Really impressive job by the GOP. This convention is much more compelling than the Dem's. I anticipate a bump in Trump's numbers, unlike the absence of a bump for Biden after the Dem convention.
