    1) It takes very little resources, actually. Considerably less money and materials than a purchased life. I guess your attempt to call it impossibly expensive is a way of absolving yourself. The fact that you call those who survive difficult times 'smug', confirms it. That's your projection, not theirs. They're just speaking the realities - cause and effect. Ticks on the bum? When we've never absorbed any kind of Govt assistance, and we don't depend upon complex infrastructure each and every hour of the day, and do (much) less damage to the environment than the average urbanite? LOLs. And I'm not anti-establishment - you've added that in for your own reasons. My objection isn't to the system, it's to people who abuse the system by making terrible life choices. I object even more strongly when those choices lead to financial disaster and they expect to be rescued.

    2) That's not what I mean by RESCUED. I'm talking about finances, not freaking tornadoes. Jeez ... talk about literal.

    3) I'm not listing the flaws of the state or as you call it, 'society'. I'm listing the flaws of the PEOPLE within it. Abandonment - as you call it - is not even trying to be a better member of society. It's just sitting at home and complaining, while voluntarily depending entirely upon a system that people like you hate. We who've chosen to live the message of low impact, work-to-eat self-reliance, are role models for those who need motivation to begin to change the world one person at a time (the only way it will ever be changed). We show what's possible when you actually mean it, and want to see change. We show it's possible.

On the contrary, I take as little as possible from 'the system'. That's the ****ing point, Dear.

As for abandoning the situation .. LOL. See above. Sacrificing comforts and freedoms for decades, to HELP the system and the planet, is the polar opposite of abandonment. Those who do nothing at all to relieve their fellows of the burden of carrying them every time the going gets tough, and/or rely on environmentally destructive infrastructure and resources, isn't just abandoning their responsibility to the system, their fellows, and the planet .. they're kicking them on the way out.

I guess you find the stuff you keep propagandizing as funny. I find it kind of a joke myself LOL. Once again, survivalist of the 1980's weren't all rural part farmers...the majority were city dwellers or suburbanites....just like today's preppers. This means you have to purchase property elsewhere, stock it, maintain it, in addition to your city life (unless your suburban home is equipped with a modern bomb shelter of sorts. Sure, you're practically off the grid...save that you keep giving clues that you're not....(wonder what happens to ya if you can't bull horn on the net because of equipment failure....computer equipment ain't cheap, so ya gotta have a good job and all). You can repeat your convoluted "logic" ad nausea, but simple analysis finds it's base logic dubious at best.

    2. Finances or tornadoes...same old survivalists BS....buy gold and silver coins, stock water, can goods, weapons, ...read the signs, make sure few know exactly where your redoubt is....Puh-leeze.....maintaining that for 40 years you damn sure better have horded every penny...especially if you refuse Social Security or ANY federal gov't financial system. Or be a Wall St. investor on the top tier.

    3. People make a society....pity you don't see the flaws in your version of the world, let alone cop to them.

    Baloney...my chuckling sweetheart. http://www.politicalforum.com/index...lready-doing-it.569739/page-6#post-1072020097

So you're an environmental activists, yet you had city folk and their system, so you don't use gov't financial systems yet you have time and money to prep and be an activists....yet you're vague about exactly how you earn a living. Puh-leeze!

You're really bothered about being called out, aint ya.

And no .. I'm not an activist in the sense you mean. I don't go to ****ing protests, then return to a heavily consumerist and dependent urban lifestyle. I live the change I want to see. And I guarantee that we .. those who live the change .. use a fraction of the resources you do, and none of us are ever likely to burden the working stiff (taxpayer) by being irresponsible.

Evidently this stuff is what bugs the hell out of you. That someone is showing you up by doing, instead of just blowing hot air. Don't worry, we're used to it. The ones who hate it the most are the ones who claim to want change (but do absolutely ****ing nothing).

Called out? Oh, you mean the personal supposition and conjecture smoke screen to avoid the crux of my original posts? Snowballs at a furnace, my dear crank.
So you're not an activist, you don't give a damn about the environment, yet you claim to be benefitting society by not being an urban consumerist, yet you have yet to explain the conundrum of how non-participating and then withdrawing (while benefitting) from society is somehow something to feel superior to others about? And you assume the average tax payer is irresponsible? Can you "bias" boys & girls? Sure you can, I know you could.
So spare us all your hypocrisy in complaining about others hypocrisy....a simple question just got a lot of convoluted BS from you. You've answered more than I asked. Thanks.

    1) We're off grid, own several properties outright (only possible because we live so frugally), and almost never buy anything new. We don't have a 'city life', and we have a low income. We don't 'stock' property, we propagate food plants from our own seed and raise chickens for eggs. Computers are easily built from collected/salvaged parts. All our clothes are used, even our shoes. Our furniture and appliances come from roadsides. We've lived this way for nearly 30 years, and have always consumed a fraction of what an average family does. We've also secured the resources for our collective to keep living sustainably and responsibly well into the future. You can find all the fault you want with that model, but if you're living larger you don't have a leg to stand on. More importantly, you're quite literally condemning deliberate action to improve the human condition. That leaves a very big question about your motivations.

    2) I have no idea what any of that means. It sounds absurd, either way. Top tier Wall Street investor? LOLs. Most people living the way we do have very little income. It's not a rich person thing.

    3) Exactly. So the more people who reduce their footprint and increase their self-reliance, the better ALL of society will be.

What a mess! Try reading my post again, and clear up your confusion.

Helping you out though - yes we ABSOLUTELY care about the environment, but we're actually doing something about it instead of just talking and protesting. We've been doing something about it for 30+ years, as stated. We LIVE the message, we don't blow hot air. It's ****ing hard work, living the message BTW .. and I think you know it. I'm guessing that's why it makes you so angry, because you know you couldn't do it.

And of course it bloody well benefits society .. how could it not? We could have lived like the average suburban family and killed the planet a little faster. We could have encouraged our kids to grow into irresponsible adults by neglecting to teach them personal responsibility. We could have made them too precious to tolerate second hand clothing/shoes/appliances/furniture etc. We could have spent all our money on big city rents/mortgages, vacations, restaurants, cars, good times, etc. We could have done a whole bunch of things we very consciously and deliberately didn't do, because we take this stuff seriously.

No idea why you think I said the tax payer is irresponsible. That's just weird, and completely wrong.

Suddenly, you've compiled stock, generic answers that could have been done initially. Instead, you previously shoveled a lot of BS....this indicates that your current claims are dubious at best. So now you're the Beverly Hillbilly's, who gleam used computer parts to get on and waste time on the net pushing this lame propaganda (must be a genius wireless hacker, so no server fees). You're low income, yet you own several properties, live second hand, etc. etc. Man, you MUST the a Disney screen writer. Oh wait, you hate urban jobs and Wall St., so your "properties" must be doing gang buster produce. Yeah, LOL...because what you've posted is a joke...and a waste of time. Adios.

You're not fooling anyone, as now you're on about "we" like you speak for a group. As I say here, you're are a joke to laugh about. Adios.

Sigh .. you must be new around here. I'm not. Read some of my old posts about this stuff. I've been talking about it for ****ing years. Much to the annoyance of those who're sick of hearing about it!

YOU have issues with my lifestyle, because you won't/can't do it yourself. I'm assuming that denial makes you feel better about your own choices? Like "oh that stuff isn't real, so my lifestyle is just fine" .. kinda thing?

If you're genuinely ignorant of how this stuff works, I'm very happy to give you tips. Bear in mind it takes decades, unless you're wealthy. It won't happen overnight, but you can do it. Anyone can do it.

Don't shoot the hungry ones, they're too skinny. Shoot them fat ones that were living on cheetos and mtn dew before the SHTF. Lots more meat on the fat ones.

The fat ones will be the first to die (not having the knowledge or physical capacity to feed themselves), so they'll be recycled long before they make it out of their cities and towns. The skinny ones are more dangerous, because they can run faster and farther.

I learned that its going to be easier to mill AK recievers than it is to stamp them because the stamped ones require forged trunnions.

...which makes me wonder how stamped was ever deemed more efficient in the first place...
