'Play it down': Trump admits to concealing the true threat of coronavirus in new Woodward book

I was kidding. I don't blame Roosevelt: he was a leader trying to maintain courage and resolve. And Trump didn't want to cause a panic with his words, while actually going about actions that made the US safer than we would have been if creepy Joe were in charge but too busy assaulting children to care about lessening the number of people coming from the virus source in China to the USA.

 

Are you under the impression that the USG is required, or even should tell the public everything it knows? I rather doubt you are.

The flu does kill thousands. In a sense....it is like the flu.We've had flu's that were very bad. The Scientists were not sure exactly what it was or how it would act. So does Mello Guy propose in hind sight that the President should have played it up and said..."This virus is deadly to ALL, everyone of you, so stay in your houses until I tell you!" The Science has changed it's course. Honestly, given his information, I believe President Trump did quite well.

Oh, by the way Mello Guy, did you go to China Town for the open street buffet in March as Nanci Pelosi suggested?

Trump calling the virus a hoax was, in no way, his showing leadership and protecting the American people.

Everyone but his most loyal worshipers have known the truth since March. As we've learned new information, we've adapted, because science is a process, not an event.

There is literally no way to spin this that doesn't make you look utterly blind.

No, but this virus was not a state secret. See my response above. Intentionally putting Americans in danger is something he can do with the military. He absolutely cannot do it to mere citizens. He made it worse by lying.

You didn't answer the question: are you claiming that Woodward imitated or hired somebody to imitate Trump's voice?

Because reality is that there is a tape of Trump saying what Woodward claims he said.

So you can make whatever assumptions you want. But if your assumptions are proven wrong by reality, it's your judgement, not reality, that comes into question. So answer the question: In this case, is your assumption wrong, or is reality wrong?

 

If you think that the bold was his only other option, besides blatantly lying, than you have never seen a true leader in action. I can think of numerous ways he could have approached this that would have been truthful, and not panic inducing, at the same time.

 

Which side would that be ?

 

At the end of the day, I'm disappointed in myself. I thought Trump was too stupid to understand the science. It turns out, he understood it fine. He's just such a bigger ******* than I gave him credit for. Apologies for that. My bad.

 

Inciting a panic would put Americans at risk. Americans know that.

You don't know what a leader looks like, I guess. You can be honest and not create chaotic panic at the same time. It's totally doable. See Kennedy, Bay of Pigs, as one example. There are an infinite number of examples of true leaders doing the same.

Also, most of the world's leaders during this exact pandemic.

If you don't think Kennedy was able to tell the truth while not causing a panic, I don't know what to say. Millions of Americans disagree with you.

 

I wish I could like this 1,000 times. So many have no clue what real leadership looks like.
