If you voted in the last election you had a voice in the results of those in power now. Remember the people elect the Electors from each State to elect the President. Every 6 years you have an opportunity to elect each of your Senator's and every two years to elect your representative from your District.

Your experience this morning is evidence to me this division is being foisted upon us and is not what individuals would choose without coaching. And I think you’ve correctly identified some of those coaches.

I don’t know what to do specifically either. Perhaps all we can do is what we do here and you do on your bike ride.

I really don’t know much about her personal life but certainly respect her for her tenacity. And care about the fact she suffered greatly from one of the most painful deaths and her family and friends are still feeling it.

I admit that she stood up for what she thought was right. As for being a good human being, I really don't know because I didn't know her. As far as her being friends with Scalia, maybe she was. But he was already on the Supreme Court before she got there. I can also see her doing everything she possibly could to keep Scalia off the Court if it were in her power to do so, simply because she wants her side in power.

Biden sponsored it, and Clinton signed it......It's also worth noting that Trumps recent comprehensive prison reform bill will grant early release to tens of thousands of non violent criminals, the majority of whom are black.

According to a 1994 Gallup survey, 58% of African Americans supported the crime bill, compared to 49% of white Americans. Most Black mayors, who were grappling with a record wave of violent crime, did so as well. As he joined a delegation of mayors lobbying Congress to back the bill, Baltimore Mayor Kurt L. Schmoke said, “We’re trying very hard to explain to Congress that this is a matter that needs bipartisan support.”

In a recent interview Rep. James Clyburn, a member of the House leadership and one of the most powerful African American elected officials, reflected on the reasons for his vote in favor of the bill. “Crack cocaine was a scourge in the Black community,” he recalled. “They wanted it out of those communities, and they had gotten very tough on drugs. And that’s why yours truly, and other members of the Congressional Black Caucus, voted for that 1994 crime bill.”

There is certainly merit to what you say. IMO It's the corruption and hypocrisy of both parties which are destroying a system that normally would work nearly flawless.

We have some in here who claim the democrats are worse then republicans; my response to them is this: would they be ok with living next door to someone who's murdered 1 person or someone who's murdered 15 people? I think the normal answer would be none. Who wants to live next door to a murderer in the first place? The same mindset should apply for political parties; if they are only partially corrupt when compared to the other party, they are still corrupt and who wants that.

She gave an eulogy at Scalia's funeral. I doubt she would have been invited if their friendship hadn't been genuine.

You make a good point that Trump's re-election is not guaranteed, the only guarantees in life are death and taxes. And yes I believe you are right that we are kidding ourselves that any politician care about the appearance of hypocrisy. This is the problem with both parties, they both being totally corrupt IMO. I do hope that someday this country will have a third party that doesn't have the flaws the current two mainstream parties have; then I think we'll see serious change for the better. Just my opinion.

It doesn't matter if Mitch McConnell puts up Amy Coney Barrett, and it doesn't matter that she's not qualified to sit on the Supreme Court, it doesn't even matter if she's confirmed by the Republican Senate.

When Joe Biden is elected, he will simply enlarge the Supreme Court to 11 Justices. There's good reason to since their case loads are already too much for 9 to handle. Expanding the Supreme Court with two more justices would be Joe Biden's choice, and it's perfectly legal. The Judicial Procedures Reform Bill of 1937 grants the president power to appoint an additional justice to the U.S. Supreme Court, up to a maximum of six, for every member of the court over the age of 70 years and 6 months.

There are currently 3 SC Justices over the age of 70 and six months.

So go ahead, get your panties in a wad over that one.

According to Senator McConnell, the reason that he didn't consider a SC nominee in 2016 was because the Senate and White House were opposing parties. And being so close to the election he preferred to wait for the coming election as a signal of the will of the people. But now he is going forward because the will of the people is already inherent or weighted in the fact that the Senate and White House represent the same party. It kind of makes sense. But I can see how it may seem like a made up excuse to Democrats. There are also good reasons to have nine Jurors with the potential for contention in the upcoming mail in vote election.

Yes he will win. And Trump has been priming his base to claim 'illegal' and it's bullshit. Joe Biden will win.

Or President Trump will nominate a Judge now. And when he is re elected, he can expand the Court to 11 Judges.

Most Americans voted for someone other than Clinton as well. In that struggle, Trump got the EC votes necessary to win. Nevertheless, between the two, support was roughly split, with Clinton having a slight edge percentagewise.

That's what I was thinking too. If the Democrats are good with an expansion to 11, it needs to get done ASAP. Next week would be good for me.
