We wear seat belts in cars and we install smoke detectors in our homes. Smart people take simple precautions to protect themselves. Wearing a mask, especially in crowd, is that simple precaution.

I would like to see the reaction this morning of the tens of thousands of Trumpists who participate in his rallies and who deny the dangerousness of this pandemic.

We also force feed kids McDonald's and Mountain Dew. That kills FAR more people in this country than fires or car wrecks or Covid.

But some things are only worth it for the political points to be scored, amiright?

You'll have to watch Fox news, then you'll know. Their talking points will trickle down to this forum a few hours to days later.

Go back and read my posts. Lol

I don't care. I never did. My life and my job hasn't changed at all. People still work on top of each other. I see a hundred people a day in my office.

68 people tested positive at my workplace and nobody gives a ****. They test positive, they go home for a few days, and then they come back. We've been doing it for months.

More people died in the previous two years in this country than will die this year despite a killer epidemic.

And the work still needs to be done.

Okay, add in the 200,000 deaths and we have STILL had less people die in this country than the previous two years.

    Whats your point?

People die every hour of every day. They have been for thousands of years.

The bolded is the attitude of Trump, Melania, and their fans in a nutshell. Why would we have someone be in charge of the country when they don't care? That's exactly the reason why the covid response in the US has been so poor compared to other civilized nations.

What's the mental stability of someone who hasn't worked a job in six months through no fault of their own?

    How about millions of someone's?

When you tell your family you can't feed them, is that worth it? You did your part to save the world, is that what you tell these people overdrawing their accounts?

Sweden didn't do **** and they're doing just fine. Spain shut down everything, wrecked their economy, and now they're still in lock down.

Considering that it hasn't disappeared with the warm weather, I would tend to believe you.

It's not just that Trump has to quarantine, it's probably over half the Cabinet as well. I would be not be surprised to hear
that one or two people who were on Air Force One get serious complications.

It does show what happens when virus are not taken seriously - now it's a National Security issue. Joint Chiefs? Good chance at least one of them has
interacted with Trump. Head of the FBI? CIA? Senate Majority Leader? Manuchin would be a good candidate for a Super-Spreader, he's had contact with the President and most of the Republican leaders in Congress in the last few days.

So the Reality Show that is the Trump White House rolls on ...

There is a lower age limit. I would be in favor of an amendment to the effect that nobody over the age of 65 should be eligible for election to either President or VP, for a first term. As of date of inauguration.

That would have excluded Reagan, but nobody else in recent memory. Until 2016, when both Clinton and Trump would have been ineligible.

The death rate is higher in European countries who bent over backwards to protect themselves like Belgium, the UK, or Spain.

Your points are trash and aren't backed by substance.

You're in this thread simply to stir up division, because you're not debating. You have no facts to debate on because they don't support your "the world is ending" mantra.

Like most on the left, it's feelings and emotions that guide you. Not reality.

Not if you avoid catching it and wait for the vaccine.

On the flip side, you have governors like Ralph Northam (D-VA) who profess to care, still caught the WuFlu and burned down the economy in their entire state instead of reacting to conditions at the local level where some places have not been affected by the virus. Why would we want someone to be in charge of a state or even the country if they're going to panic, overreact and harm a lot of people's lives unnecessarily?

BS. Belgium and Spain are the ONLY European countries that have a higher death rate than America.
UK is better. And both of them were hit hard at the outset - on the front lines.

The countries that took serious steps to contain it HAVE done better - much better - than America. There are literally dozens of European countries that have done better than America. By that measure - or pretty much any other - America is one of the failures of the whole world in combatting the virus.

    Trump lied. Americans died.

Actually what I am seeing is different from what he says
If a presidential candidate dies before the election the vp usually be nominated.
However if it is after the election during trasistion period the vp would take over.

It somewhat happened a long time ago

    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/1872_United_States_presidential_election

But in the case of this if Trump were to die pence would takeover and Republicans would nominate him of course with no other choice at this late of stage.

Can't force people to fly. People are scared. I mean, not like there isn’t 200,000+ dead with no end in sight.

Since there is no fully approved vaccine available yet I can't really answer that however New Zealand, South Korea and many other SE Asian countries have done far better than most.
Seems that taking it seriously and following health guidelines is a far better approach than downplaying it and letting the virus run wild.
Even Sweden took measures to slow the spread and it's economy is not unscathed as you seem to be implying.
The economies which have done best are those in nations who were most successful in reducing cases and deaths.

That's a good question but I think we vote for a person, not a party. I haven't rec'd a ballot yet & don't recall how it's done: are President & V.P. listed on separate lines, so that a voter could, hypothetically, chose to vote for the Democrat for one & the Republican for the other? Because then, obviously, you couldn't apply anyone's vote for V.P. to a different office. But if the 2 are combined on the ballot as a, "ticket," though I wouldn't think it right, I couldn't be positive that it couldn't happen. Could it be that different states do it differently? (It still feels, to me, like the ballot should list the two offices separately; what if someone wanted to split it? Not allowed?)

Unlike yourself and many others, some people want the WuFlu to rule their lives, but more importantly they want to use it to rule your life.

I can't help but think how different things would be if this wasn't an election year and self-serving opportunists who profess to "care" were unable to exploit it for their own personal and political gain...

Try feeding 8 billion people without an economy. At this point, I think it would be helpful if Trump shut down all the universities for one year and put all those college personnel on a one year unpaid sabbatical. The people in sinecures poo-pooing the economic carnage in ordinary American's lives should have a chance to experience some of the pain themselves.
