Payback for the USSR making sure we paid the highest possible price for our folly in Vietnam.
IOW, Russia and the USA should try very hard to just get along.

Used to be a booming economy in peacetime was all that was needed to vote for the incumbent.. but a large percentage of the loudest voices have gone completely insane! (or are just protecting their share of the graft and corruption that drips off the Deep State)

Sounds like you're talking about a civil war. The US Military will never be entirely turned against The People. At best, half of it might. Which would be a civil war as the other half fights for The People.

In which case, I would be fighting one 'military' in support of another 'military'.

In what scenario do you think millions of armed American civilians would be fighting military without other military on their side?

    Iranian.

    "Ruhollah Khomeini

    Sayyid Ruhollah Khomeini

Sayyid Ruhollah Musavi Khomeini (UK: /xɒˈmeɪni/ khom-AY-nee, US: /xoʊˈ-/ khohm-; Persian: سید روح‌الله موسوی خمینی‎ [ɾuːholˈlɒːhe xomejˈniː] ([IMG]listen); 24 September 1902 – 3 June 1989), also known in the Western world as Ayatollah Khomeini,[10] was an Iranian politician, revolutionary, and cleric. He was the founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the leader of the 1979 Iranian Revolution, which saw the overthrow of the last Shah of Iran, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, and the end of the 2,500-year-old Persian monarchy. Following the revolution, Khomeini became the country's Supreme Leader, a position created in the constitution of the Islamic Republic as the highest-ranking political and religious authority of the nation, which he held until his death. He was succeeded by Ali Khamenei on 4 June 1989." Wiki

Yeah.. sales of military equipment! the Military/Industrial complex was very happy... they maybe mad at Pres Trump.. while he is buying now.. it looks as tho' they'll only be able to sell upgrades to our awesome, peacetime military (which is so mighty as to dissuade enemies taking shots at us.. the ideal military) during his second term.

The US High Command has not won a final victory over any enemy since 1945 unless you count Grenada, and I don't.

"But since the end of World War II – the last war we won unconditionally – warrior-leaders like the Pattons, O'Daniels and Stillwells have become an endangered species. Ulysses S. Grant wouldn't even make captain in today's military.

The new breed are smooth, well-educated Perfumed Princes like William Westmoreland, who gave us Vietnam; Colin Powell, who didn't finish the job in Iraq; and Wesley Clark, who ran the Serbian war so badly he received his walking papers from the very Clintonistas who created this sweet-smelling pretender in the first place.

Most of these Perfumed Princes might know how to maneuver inside the corridors of power, but in spite of their advanced degrees from fine schools, few have a clue about the nitty-gritty of the profession of arms. It's not a subject that's taught at top universities – or war colleges, for that matter, where computer-science classes have pretty much edged out lectures on Kill-Or-Be-Killed."
DAVID HACKWORTH, Pampered Perfumed Princes, WND, Published July 23, 2002.

Betting on our "Pampered Perfumed Princes" is betting on a bunch of losers.

No they haven't! An authoritarian government would have no hesitation of sending a missile to your house or wherever you're hiding. Your guns would not stand a chance against the US military industrial complex

And that one thing leftists absolutely disbelieve but is still immutably true.

The armed forces of the United States take an oath to uphold and defend NOT the government, not its leaders, but the Constitution of the United States. Civilian oversight was what our Founders wanted and that is what our military ensures our people get.

The US military industrial complex sent more missiles and bombs into Vietnam than were used against Japan and Germany during WW II. How did that work?

Hell, we made the "rubble bounce" in Iraq - and for what?

"We should bomb 'em back to the Stone Age, and then make the rubble bounce." Air Force Chief of Staff General Curtis LeMay

As head of the democrat party why doesn't he call the governors and mayors and tell them to stop it? He appears to support it despite what he says.

I hate all of them. But I paid attention to what they did rather than what they said.

Here's a reason...... get the ones who weaponize unelected bureaucrats to overturn an elected President the hell out of office! That premise alone is imperative! They will pack the courts, invite illegal invasion, and add additional 3rd world states to get the power they could never achieve through elections!!

These days more people disagree with that. Gun permit applications are way up. Training course enrollments, the same. Gun range time---nearly impossible to get. Shall-carry states are numerous and so are the carriers.

Instead of all the crap about you need your guns for protection or to fight against authoritarianism just say that you like your guns. I don't know why gun owners just won't come out and say that

It goes two fold, why doesn't the opposite just come out and say they want to take guns away, like they did unconstitutionally in Chicago for over 10 years?

There's no need to be so threatening, you haven't won the election yet, although I've no doubt that after you do, we'll see the full power of your authoritarian death star.
