Well, those that live in the White house should be careful abut becoming a hot spot for the virus due to the reckless abandon towards mask wearing and social distancing. What is the latest count from THAT event?? Those that live in the White house should be an example for the people. But that is just commonsense. We will see how many get the virus by attending Trump's rallies where masks are discouraged,- as is social distancing. Maybe they will get lucky and no one will get it. But that might be the equivalent of crap shoot. would the attendees that get the virus be eligible for the same high level of medical care that POTUS gets?? Meanwhile The affordable care act is on life support due to Trump wanting to get rid of it. . Where will that leave millions of people during a pandemic......and post same?? Or does it matter???

So, nothing about the protests? The riots? Nothing?

Just an fyi, at Trumps last rally at the WH everyone was required to wear a mask before being let in.

That is excellent. Did everyone wear them??

I hear that his rally attendees are given masks prior the rally...........but the photos shown on TV don't show many wearing them. Many still think it is a "personal choice" as opposed to a health necessity during a pandemic.

Re: Protests and riots. Both are hi risk situations. ...and have potential to be super spreaders.

    (thx for the reminder ;-)

Some of us are outraged at this blatant disregard for a world wide public health crisis. We don't check their party; we just see wrong and call wrong. Why, in your mind, is it only okay when YOUR team behaves irresponsibly?

You are right. And the virus does not have parties, preferences, biases, It is an equal opportunity virus.. Everyone is fair game. We should have evolved well beyond "survival of the fittest"........ and use the science we know and continue learning. It is not crap shoot. there are facts and evidence to support the mitigating actions.

Funny, I don't recall hearing you say those BLM protests were wrong. I have seen you speak out against the riots. But I have seen nothing against the BLM protests. And I wouldn't be using "we" if I were you. Unless you want to put yourself in the same group as a certain governor who banned even small gatherings except blm protests, no matter how large?

Cases are on the rise in more than 40 states. That's a lot of Republicans!

Once they got in? Nope. But from the video I saw on CNN most were.

How many is "many"? I just watched a video where everyone behind Trump had a mask. Of course, admittedly, that's not a guarantee that everyone in the crowd wore masks. But there are those on the left that don't wear masks either. Here's a video of Biden not wearing a mask during a rally. I've yet to see a single thread about it. Yet there are threads about Trump not wearing masks during rallys.

See the hypocrisy? Trump haters bitch and moan about Trump not wearing masks yet not a peep when their boy Biden doesn't.

So, you condemn those just as much as Trump supporters not wearing them?

Now, I'm not excusing those that don't wear masks. From either side. But if you're going to complain about Trump supporters exclusively then you're going to be seen as partisan. Which is what the OP does. Tries to make it seems as if its only red states where the virus is surging. When in point of fact many states are surging and the ones that are surging the most are not red states.

Please point to a post where I was okay with protestors wearing masks, or anywhere I condoned the rioting. I'll be here.

I am not against protests, but I am on record numerous times saying that I am against protestors who are not social distancing and wearing masks.

As for the rioters, I am 100% against all of it.

    Nice spin. ;-)

The Virus task force is predicting even more of a surge.
Well... condemn is a tad harsh........but I am very disappointed in ALL those that refuse to wear masks, or social distance, or sanitize their hands frequently. They don't seem to care for anyone but themselves. regardless of party, color or gender. Seems that the red states were mentioned because Trump supporters seem a lot more defiant in refusing to comply with health recommendations. Bu That should not be the case.......as regardless of who one supports..........HEALTH practice in a pandemic applies to everyone. Whatever party one chooses is totally irrelevant in a pandemic. Trump doesn't help the situation by minimizing the pandemic, mocking mask wearers........like a bully would He does not help by making empty promises about vaccines, or that the pandemic is rounding the turn. That is all malarkey......... and he knows it too........unless he is dumber than he acts and speaks. He is not doing the population a favor as he has lost a lot of credibility and trust. He should be leading by example . The pandemic is serious business . Not yo be minimized . In a situation like this everyone should adhere to the recommendations made by the health professionals. Politiciasn have to many motives that might not be in the best interest of the population. Plus they know zilch about pandemics.

Surge in positive cases, sure. We've run 130 million tests all year. Now we're distributing and additional 150 million Quick Tests on top of that. Meanwhile, fewer and fewer people are dying from Covid-19.

that sounds positive. It will be interesting to see how many have residual medical issues that are a product of the virus. I know of several people who have serious residual issues....... that could last a long time........or indefinitely . Makes them more vulnerable too. they now have "pre existing " conditions...

I'm more worried about the long term conditions that are popping up. I hope those are minimal, but it doesn't seem to be shaping up that way.

My husband's boss supposedly recovered a few weeks ago, but his ability to comprehend what he's being told is clearly diminished. Some call it brain fog.

    Also, kidney, heart, lung conditions.

Yeah. We never worried about the same type of long term damage which some people suffer after having influenza.

Did we never worry, or was it never a huge issue? I do not know anyone who died from the flu, or had long lasting symptoms. I can't say the same with COVID.

exactly.....and the concerns you mention have been found in many that have had the virus. Diminished Lung capacity is one of the residual factors that seems to show up often. One is right to be concerned about these residual symptoms and conditions.

Now that Trump supposedly had the virus........ one would think he would be a lot more empathetic to people who get it. Plus he should be outlining his plans as to how he will deal with it should he be reelected. Yet all we hear from him is degrading and bashing other people............. and chants of locker her up.............now iti s lock them up. There is nothing rational in his statements about how he plans to deal with the pandemic . That alone should make people really question his ability at the job. He AVOIDS the topic like the plague. Meanwhile a form of plague is surrounding him. This failure will be his legacy.

Lower respiratory illnesses are the 4th leading cause of death. Influenza/pneumonia is the 8th.

Perhaps we just never singled out another illness and politicized it, along with all the lingering complications, on a daily basis before this year.

We agree about a lot. Not this, though. ;)

I don't find this political. People who don't want to wear masks are making it political, by claiming there is no way to know if masks work.
