Why not? People settle lawsuits and even criminal prosecutions all the time whether they are guilty or not.

Dayton 3 I suggest you read online what the woman Barbara Res who was his Vice President of consruction for Trump Tower in New York has to say about how he did not want any black workers on the ground floor where they could be seen by the public as they walked by the construction site. He never wanted black children to be seen down in the lobby of Trump Tower . She worked for him for 18 years in various roles, she says he was blatantly racist.

I think this is something that might happen. But I believe it would be more devastating to the country if he does. This would mean that Presidents have this "unspoken pact" by which they can do whatever the hell they want because the next President, to avoid looking like they want "revenge and punishment".

I, for one, would become the staunchest anti-Biden if he did that. It would inflict a great wound to the concept of being "a country of laws" from which I don't think we would ever recover.

I can't say I'm not attracted by the idea of seeing Trump in an orange jumpsuit. But that's not the most relevant part. The most important thing is to prove to ourselves that our laws still count and that they do apply to the President.

Pardoning him for his federal offenses, would still allow you to stick it to him on the state level(NY) and would show some bipartisanship that would be healing.(Of course, I don't believe Trump has committed an offense, as I read the various statures that people want to apply to him but he hasn't been in a court room either.)

Essentially, something like this to turn the page would be helpful.

But they don't get sued for running a SCAM!!! a FAKE institute of higher learning where some of the faculty had criminal records, and none were qualified teachers.

Can you proved what is alleged in the lawsuit with complete unchallengeable evidence?

    Thought not.

The COURTS proved him guilty and required him to cough up $25 Million in fines. It was a SCAM/

I don't believe a president should be above the law while he/she is president, if he/she commits a crime or crimes he/she should be held accountable while in office.

Ford pardoned nixon because it was the plan all along. the only reason Nixon resigned is because he knew of he remained president he would be impeached and remove from office, and then immediately charged and then guided and convicted in criminal Court.

He resigned only because he made a bathroom deal with Ford to receive a pardon immediately upon Ford taking office.

Pardoning Nixon didn't help the country it only helped Nixon that bastard should have been sent to prison.

No American president has been imprisoned ever.
    Nor should they be.

Any charges that stem from the investigations he's currently under plus any that are brought after he no longer has the shield and power of the White House. If a newly minted Democratic Attorney General decides it's go-time, I'm sure it won't be heard to find something that Trump has done. The Mueller report mentioned obstruction. I cannot state with certainty that Trump has committed a chargeable crime, it's true. I suspect that he has though, it's his nature to be dishonest and underhanded. That's not proof though, obviously. But either way, whether he has committed crimes or whether the Democrats are convinced he did and spend their time going after him, none of it will ultimately be good in the long run. It will just keep the bad dream on life support.

But as Yardmeat and Dagosa pointed out earlier in the thread, Biden wouldn't have the power to pardon state charges making my OP somewhat moot, since it would be even less likely that Biden and Cuomo would both do it.

This time around, they must be. The U.S. remaining a nation of laws depends on it. If it had been just a single "misstep" or two, I might agree with you (maybe). But this is just too much.

He didn't commit a crime, he's not under investigation for committing a crime and you can't name a charge.

How about all the Democrats just stop with the phony charges? But as someone else asked if Trump wins should he pardon Biden and his family?

There isn't anything for Biden to pardon Trump either and it appears Biden's family has been quite corrupt and used his political positions for his and his families personal gain. So should Trump pardon him and his family?

What was the illegal conspiracy between the WH and the Senate? What is it Trump did in office that you want no other President to do and be specific.

Where was I talking about trump?
I was actually talking about Obama on that one, but are you really saying nothing they have passed has been struck down as unconstitutional?
Here is a short list: https://www.washingtonpost.com/graphics/2019/politics/trump-overruled/ (more than any other president in the same time frame)

As for the conspiracy between the Senate and WH — I would argue the Senate pushing their constitutionally mandated duties to the WH would fit here.

Probably why he started talking about skipping out of the country if he loses

I love how they mock people for saying they will leave if he wins but super spreader is saying the same thing if he loses.
You cannot make 2020 up — if it was pitched as a sitcom they would be laughed out of the room.

Those people supposedly would be leaving out of disgust.

Trump would be "fleeing" ala Yanakovic
