At its core it is yet another resource war. My concern is that as world economies lie depleted and continue to be devastated by lockdowns, governments will become more and more reliant on finding new & expanding resource markets, this will only contribute to more conflict.

We won't know, other than by the result. The Russians are very secretive that way. Their help is usually in Intelligence and electronics. If Nagorno Karabach is able to hold its ground against the Turkish arms and mercenaries, then I guess they're doing well.

Right now there are claims on both sides in the conflict, but if it follows the pattern of the Nazis in Ukraine, or the terrorists in Syria and Libya, it would mean the Azerbiajans are killing civilians so they can ethnically cleanse the land, while the Armenians are attacking and killing the fighters.

Just from the videos and photos I've seen, it seems that the Azerbaijanians are doing their fair share of "attacking and killing the fighters" as well. I haven't seen much in the way of evidence of ethnic cleansing yet, but I'm open to the possibility it may be happening now or might happen in the future.

I don't know that much about it. What I read recently is that the Spanish didn't go into the Middle West, because of the Comanches. This is why only the East and West coast were settled. When the Native Americans in the East were pushed westwards by the settlers, they were mostly killed by the Comanches.

The last chief Quanah Parker was half European. His mother had been kidnapped when she was young. The Comanches were finally defeated after the Civil War mostly by killing off the buffalos and starving them to death.

Here's the last Comanche chief Quanah Parker. He had about 5 wives, so he has quite a few descendants.

Well the Azerbaijanians intent is to take back Nagorno Karabach and they did say they want to ethnically cleanse it, which means they will attack civilians and infrastructure.

    This is from Fort Russ:

BAKU – In recent days, and in the wake of multiple resounding defeats at the hands of Artsakh defenders, Azerbaijan has resorted to firing 300mm rockets, armed with banned cluster submunitions, against residential areas of multiple Armenian cities and towns, primarily the capital of the Republic of Artsakh, Stepanakert.
This is the latest from the Greekpronews.

The Armenians destroyed 12 tanks in three hours with Kornet missiles.
I can't find too much on the war other than Erdogan now wants to have a meeting with Russia, Armenia and Azerbiazan, which means they have been blocked from further action in Nagorno Karabach, so they're back to provoking Greece and Cyprus. In Cyprus they opened a beach in an unauthorized area, to the anger of Russia and the EU, and in Greece they sent their search ship and fleet back into Greek waters looking for oil and gas again.

I read testimonies in the Greek paper. You realize that the Azerbaijanis were kicked out in the last war when the Armenians won and declared it a separate State? Besides, what do you think Turkey has been doing in Idlib, other than killing and ethnically cleansing the Kurds and Christians and repopulating it with Turkomans to change the demographics in favor of Turkey. It's what Turkey does.

There were testimonies from Free Syrian Army fighters who said they were offered something like $2 thousand a month to fight in Azerbiajan, but that it wasn't worth it. It was a blood bath. The Armenians are tough, but then again they are fighting for their survival. In the meantime Turkey sent the favored 'Turkoman' fighters to take control of the oil fields in Azerbiajan.

Anyway I tried to find information on the war, but the news has shifted to the latest situation in the Aegean. Turkey's search vessel and warships are again provoking and threatening the Greek islands and territorial waters in what they call their: 'Blue Homeland'. You figure!

The Jews and Armenians never got along in Turkey, and when Ataturks men were killing the Armenians in Smyrna/Izmir, the Jews were suspected of pointing out the Armenian homes. Certainly no love lost there.

The Jews were also used by the Turks to do a lot of their dirty work - which always made me wonder if some of their persecution in Europe and Russia, might have been a response to what was going on against the Christians in the Ottoman Empire?

In a way it was a smart policy by the Turks to befriend the Jews since they were a small minority, in contrast to the Christians who were in the majority, and whose land was being occupied. I know in Greece the Jews always lived with the Turks within the castle walls, while the Greeks lived outside.

The only news you will find is on TASS. Sort of reminds me of Libya, where Turkey was winning and then everything changed overnight. There's probably a lot of diplomacy going on over the war, because Iran is on Armenia's side, and has troops along the border.

I read that Iran has a large reservoir right on the border, which makes it very vulnerable - especially considering Israel is very close to Azerbiajan. Maybe the Wagner group was sent to protect the border, so that Iran wouldn't get involved and cause problems with Israel. Who knows?

As for Russia, they won't get involved directly unless Armenia itself is attacked.

I wouldn't pay too much attention to the Holodomir propaganda spitted out by the nationalists in Western Ukraine. They weren't the ones that suffered Khruschev's famine, after he deliberately misappropriated the distribution of grain to relieve Kazakhstan. I say Khruschev because he was in charge. Instead the nationalists should take a good look at their own Nazi involvement in the genocides of Poles and Russians during WWII.

Nicole Pasinian, Prime Minister of Armenia, announced yesterday that his country had reached a "painful" surrender agreement with Azerbaijan for Nagorno-Karabakh and from that moment on the fate of the Armenians will be essentially in the hands of the Russian forces deployed in Arsach; which is the Armenian name for Nagorno Karabach.

As for Russia, Armenia's defeat is probably a bitter pill to swallow, and from what I read, the Russian Parliament is a little annoyed with Putin's 'friendship' with Erdogan, since Erdogan never keeps his word. But does Vladimir Putin have a choice other than a full scale war? In the meantime there is a lot of consternation in Armenia over the peace agreement..

It is a defeat, but that's because Armenia armed forces were not prepared militarily and didn't expect an attack, so there was no way they could win. Azerbiazan in the meantime had full Turkish support including drones as well as jihadists from Syria.

The following is the peace agreement between Nogorno Karabakh and Azerbiajan.

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan IG Aliyev, Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikolai Pashinyan and President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin announce the following:

    1. A full ceasefire and an end to all hostilities in the Country-Karabakh conflict zone shall be announced, starting at 12:00 a.m. Moscow time on 10 November 2020.

The Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Armenia, hereinafter referred to as "parties", stop at the positions where they are now.

    2. The Adham region and the territories held by the Armenian party in the Gazak region of the Republic of Azerbaijan shall be returned to the part of Azerbaijan on 20 November 2020.

    3. Along the contact line in Nagorno-Karabakh and along the Lachin corridor, a peacekeeping corps from the Russian Federation, consisting of 1,960 servicemen with light weapons, is deployed, 90 transport vehicles. armored troops, 380 car units and special equipment.

    4. The peace corps of the Russian Federation shall be deployed in parallel with the withdrawal of the Armenian armed forces. The duration of the stay of the peace corps of the Russian Federation shall be 5 years with automatic extension for the following five-year periods if neither party declares 6 months before the end of the period its intention to terminate the application of this provision.

    5. In order to increase the effectiveness of the parties' monitoring of the implementation of the agreements in the conflict, a peacekeeping centre is now being developed to monitor the ceasefire.

    6. The Republic of Armenia will return the Kelbajar region to the Republic of Azerbaijan from 15 November 2020 and the Lachin region from 1 December 2020 leaving behind the Lalbin corridor (5 km wide), which will ensure the connection of Nagorno-Karabakh with Armenia without simultaneously affecting the city of Sushi.

With the agreement of the parties, within the next three years, a plan will be established for the construction of a new traffic route along the Lachin corridor, ensuring communication between Stefanakert and Armenia, with the subsequent reordering of the Russian peacekeeping body to protect this road.

The Republic of Azerbaijan guarantees road safety along the Lachin corridor for citizens, vehicles and goods in both directions.

    7. Displaced persons and refugees shall return to the territory of Ngorno-Karabakh and to adjacent areas under the control of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.

    8. An exchange of prisoners of war and other prisoners and bodies shall take place.

    9. All economic and transport connections in the area are unsbled. The Republic of Armenia provides transport links between the western regions of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Autonomous Republic of Nakhiesevan in order to organise the free movement of citizens, vehicles and goods in both directions. Transport control is exercised by the bodies of Russia's FSB border guard service.

With the agreement of the parties, the construction of new transport links linking the Autonomous Republic of Nakicevan with the western regions of Azerbaijan will be ensured.

    November 2020

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan

The President of the Republic of Armenia

The President of the Russian Federation

    I noticed
    a) Erdogan is not a signatory of this agreement, not that he should be but he certainly is the sh!t stirrer with the biggest spoon
and b) hope Azerbaijan does not simply use this as an opportunity to regroup before they push further ahead.

I hope this brings peace for the people of Nagorno-Karabakh

The Byzantine Catholics lived in the former Polish area in Western Ukraine like Ivanofrankiv, Lviv, and Volyn. This is why they were put under the Pope. It was the Ukrainian farmers in Central Ukraine who had their grain confiscated by the regional governor Khruschev, and who died of famine and they are Orthodox and under the Patriarch of Moscow.

Why are you saying the Ukrainians who died were Catholics? Is that what they're telling you?

If Biden became the president I'm sure he would encourage Turkey and Azerbiajjan to attack the Russian peace keepers to start a war with Russia the way Mikheil Saakashvili did with Georgia. But Biden's not going to become president - Thank God!

This doesn't mean that Erdogan will not restart the war if he finds the opportune moment. For now though, Erdogan's attention has shifted back to the Aegean and the Greek islands.

Erdogan said that there will be Russian and Turkish peacekeepers in Nagorno Karabach, no doubt to please his home base and which Russia says is a lie. There will only be Russian peacekeepers since it has good relations with both Armenia and Azerbiajan. Turkey has no business there or anywhere for that matter. They are hated by just about everyone.

I don't know enough about the geography of Ngorno-Karabakh to understand what this means. Is Armenia pulling out of the whole region, or only portions of it? What's the deal with the road? Armenia wants a road connection to the territory it lost control of?

This is how I see the situation:

The majority of people in Nogorno Karabach are Armenians and didn't want to be part of Azerbiajan when it seceded from the Soviet Union. Their problem was that they were completely separated from Armenia and surrounded by Azerbiajan. They fought a vicious war and I believe the death toll was about 30 thousand at the time.

The Armenians are tough fighters and they did win and they did gain the territorial connection to Armenia that they needed at the expense of the Azeris who were ethnically cleansed. The Azeris are ethnically Turkish but they are Shias not Sunnis, so on a whole their relationship with Turkey has never been that great, but Erdogan in his quest to rebuild the Ottoman Empire and unite the Turkic people decided to help them regain their territory.

Russia has a good relationship with both the Armenians and Azeris and wouldn't intervene militarily unless Armenia was attacked directly since they have a defense treaty with them. Now in order to help Armenia from complete defeat they helped them come to terms and stop the fighting.

The Azeris will be holding on to all the territory they gained, and the rest will remain separate like before. Legally though it is still recognized as part of Azerbiajan, and the Azeris that were ethnically cleansed will be returning. The Russian peace keepers in Nagorno Karabach will protect the Armenians and the road that connects it with Armenia.

Turkey, contrary to what Erdogan says, will not have any troops there.

Right now in Armenia there are massive protests against the PM Nicole Pasinian for the defeat. Before the war, Pasinian began leaning towards the West. This happened in Ukraine before the coup when Yanukovich began leaning towards the EU, and also with Georgia under Sashkavili who also leaned towards the West. Was the CIA or the NGO's enticing those leaders in some way?

None of those nations gained by turning westwards, but rather they all lost - which makes me wonder if that was the original intent?
