your inability to provide a link to a credible statistical research confirming that your claim is based on science is. As I suspected it's a faith-based dogma you so sincerely fell for.

Yes. That's why hand washing is such a key element in the advice and why basic protocols around donning, removing and wearing masks make them even more effective.

Given that the alternative in your situation is that Tom coughs all over Johns face, which he's likely to touch anyway, even poorly handled, the mask would still likely reduce the risks.

    Hospitals are run by people.
Many people behave like sheep and they moan and quiver in fear like sheep.
And some of them will, like sheep, follow their leaders in submission like sheep
and obediently do whatever their leaders command them to do.

I am sticking with what I have asserted in my OP and in my follow up posts.
What exactly is false in my OP and in my follow up posts?

True, but surgical masks are single-use and so would be disposed long before 7 days after use. Re-usable masks can (and should) be cleaned. Nothing you'd pointed out in any way invalidates the correct use of masks.

    From the OP:
John Doe wears his N95 mask for 6 hours before he discards it and dons a new mask.

{While keeping in mind that many people wear the same mask all day and some
    people wear the same mask for several days.}

    Question For Today:
    Is Dr "Foochie" a fear-monger?

Feel free to double-check my maths but I'm pretty sure 6 hours is less than 7 days.

My initial response to your OP stands (the one you ignored because you had no answer for); Yes, virus can remain on masks, which is why handwashing and correct mask protocols are also important. Regardless, an infected person coughing on to your mask still poses less of a risk than them coughing on to your bare face.

So, nothing you'd pointed out in any way invalidates the correct use of masks. No amount of irrelevant side-tracking, blanking basic facts or general trolling will change that.

Cosmo is guilty of the fallacy of ad hominem name calling and therefore his comment
is not to be seriously considered because of demonstrated bias and prejudice against
    Rand Paul.

    ___________

    Start quote.
"Randal Howard Paul (born January 7, 1963) is an American politician and physician
serving as the junior United States Senator from Kentucky since 2011. He is a son of
former twelve-term U.S. Representative Ron Paul of Texas who was a presidential
    candidate in 1988, 2008, and 2012.

Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Paul attended Baylor University and
is a graduate of the Duke University School of Medicine.
Paul began practicing ophthalmology in 1993 in Bowling Green, Kentucky, and
established his own clinic in December 2007. In 2010, Paul entered politics by
running for a seat in the United States Senate. A Republican, Paul has described
himself as a constitutional conservative and a supporter of the Tea Party
    movement

    Your math is irrelevant.
My points about the 6 hours and the 7 days stands true.
Nothing in my OP or my follow up ,posts is false.
YOU are not THE Authority on the correct use of masks.

I remember a guy in the navy that protested showers...Hes a Trump supporter.

What is your opinion of this statement from Dr. "Foochie"
    Start quote.
"There’s no reason to be walking around with a mask,” infectious
disease expert Dr. Anthony Fauci told 60 Minutes.

While masks may block some droplets, Fauci said, they do not
provide the level of protection people think they do. Wearing a
mask may also have unintended consequences: People who
wear masks tend to touch their face more often to adjust them,
which can spread germs from their hands."
    End quote
Link Nolte: The Science Turns Against America's Mask Fascists (breitbart.com)
    The article is titled
"Nolte: The Science Turns Against America’s Mask Fascists"

    _____________

And what is your opinion of the following?

    Start quote.
"The World Health Organization (W.H.O.) goes even further: “Masks should only be
used by health care workers, caretakers or by people who are sick with symptoms
of fever and cough,” said Dr. April Baller, a public health specialist for the W.H.O.

Baller adds that the danger to a healthy person wearing a mask is a “false feeling
of protection” — which is something the CDC warned of early on during this
pandemic, back when we were told not to wear masks.

Of course, the CDC has flip-flopped completely on the mask issue, which means
that what we are now being told by the New England Journal of Medicine and
W.H.O. contradicts the latest CDC guidelines, which, after telling us for weeks
that masks are useless against the virus, now “recommends wearing cloth face
coverings in public settings where other social distancing measures are difficult
    to maintain.”

Since its flip-flop, I have never really bought into the idea that American health
“experts” like the CDC and Drs. Fauci and Birx were genuine in their flip-flop
on the mask issue. It always seemed to me that public and media pressure
    forced them into caving."
    End quote
Nolte: The Science Turns Against America's Mask Fascists (breitbart.com)

    ___________

Sounds like a gaggle of confused "experts" who are blubbering away and
    flip flopping.

Is their flip flopping based on their cowardice and fear?

Do they put their masks on quivering in fright?

Do they even know what they are talking about?

    When were they WRONG?

Were they WRONG up there in what they previously said?

Or are they WRING in what they are presently saying?

They contradicted themselves -- the "experts" contradicted
themselves. So WHEN were they WRONG?

Those were true before it got out of control, and they found out it could be spread while asymptomatic.
Before it got out of control, wearing a mask to protect your self made no sense.
Now that its out of control, you wear a mask because you may be asymptomatic and carry the virus. So its a liability issue.
If you dont like your paycheck, sure go out without a mask and be the only person on camera without one when they pinpoint an outbreak. One person without a mask can infect 100 people wearing a mask.

Does anyone really think someone with COVID who is coughing, sneezing, talking around people without a mask on is the same as with a mask on? There’s no difference at all in how far particles from their mouth go? None? It’s the same distance with or without a mask? Really?
That being said, I hate wearing a mask and only do so in places that require it. Once outside I rip the damn thing off.
The mask is more for people with COVID to not spread it as easily.

No. We'd do better if people wore masks CORRECTLY and took PROPER CARE of them. What goes wrong is the product of the lack of educational campaigns; not the fault of masks.
I speak five languages and regularly watch international TV by satellite subscriptions, and regularly see numerous clips played in foreign TV teaching their nationals about proper mask use, and how to care for the masks. They play in commercial breaks of many of their news shows and other content, over and over, one bit of information at a time, very well done.

It is true that the coronavirus can live on the surface of masks. But not for more than five days.

    So what is recommended is:

    1. Train yourself not to unnecessarily touch your mask. Don't remove it during the day, as much as possible. If you must remove it to eat/drink, do it with proper technique, touching the elastic bands close to where they attach to the mask, but not touching the mask surface. If you must touch and/or remove/don the mask, sanitize your hands by washing them with soap or using hand sanitizer after you touch your mask.

    2. At the end of the day, if your mask is washable (such as cloth masks), wash it regularly in your washing machine with regular laundry detergent; that will kill the virus too.

    3. If your mask is not washable and you want to reuse it due to shortage (not ideal but one needs to adapt to the situation) then have a set of 7 of those. Have 7 paper bags labeled with the days of the week. Place the one you used that day inside, and let it rest there, untouched, until that day of the week comes up again. After 7 days, any virus on the surface will have died.

    4. There are also household methods to sterilize a mask using an electric oven, a bit of water, and a sealed container. It's a bit more complicated but works too. Me, I favor #3 above.

The failure of our federal, state, and local governments and third party organizations in NOT providing a large and widespread educational campaign about proper mask use and proper mask care, is what is the problem here. Not the masks themselves. Masks CAN be effective in reducing the risk (although never 100% effective) when done right.

Too bad you failed to come up with even a shred of scientific evidence that it does. Repeating a faith-based dogma does not science make.
