Your above statement makes no sense.....

You are the one that made the statement below....
I have no use for those things.

But what does the word mean to you?
I can't honestly answer your question if I don't know how you define the word.

One time I visited a Pentecostal Church just to see what they're like. The real deal. Even people loudly lamenting in the wailing wall room. In the chapel before the service, one person after another would introduce themselves and tell about a lot of terrible things they had done. Adultery. Violent. Alcoholic. Drug addict. Burglar. Thief. Abandoned their family... but then they found Jesus. Praise the Lord.
While I hadn't done any of those things, I've actually probably done a lot, lot worse in my growing distant past. But I saw no particular to confess to anything like I never did as a rule. Then again, that church seemed like exactly where they need be. If that's what it takes to not do bad things, but all means they should go there religiously.

It was an interesting experience. Just not something I was interested in. For about a year, I visited a lot of religious services. Can't say it's not for me unless I know what it is, right? The most interesting was a big Hindu temple for a wedding. The ceremony was about 5 hours long. They used a lot of food in their rituals. Bride all painted up. Colorful clothing. Lots of bowing. Sitting on the floor. The statutes of their Gods were sort of cool. The elephant God. Multi-armed woman.

Never a Mosque or Synagogue. I don't think they just let people wander in just being curious. Catholic. Protestant (a number of them). Church Of England. Metaphysical Church. A Native American ritual. Can't remember them all. Not of them grabbed me - you know, the spirit thing. Just not for me.

But I will say this. I won't say any of them are wrong or their religion untrue. It might be that it is exactly true - and really true - for each of those people there. I'm not going to pretend I have the intellect to really grasp the concept of God/Gods.

Very perceptive of you. It requires no intellect. In fact "intellect" is the biggest hindrance.

Oh, I do go to church nearly every week with the Mrs. Big Methodist Church. Dress in a suit. I stand and sit as others, won't kneel, don't sing the hymns or repeat the words. But I'm respectfully - and those there are too. It's her Dad's church, the minister. She made it very clear to others none are to question me about religion or try to convert me. None do. I even sit in on Bible studies.

Only one time was I asked something about anything. Curiously it was sort of political. Someone started the topic of if a person were president or dictator, and one of their family kidnapped, threatened or endangered, would it be ethical to use your power for you own family in ways you wouldn't for other people? Or as leader should you treat everyone equal? In various ways it seemed others tried to duck answering, but ended up with no, it would be unethical because everyone is equal.

Being not a religious question exactly, as it came around the circle of chairs to me someone asked what I thought about this. My answer was immediate. Exact words and seriously: "I would destroy entire galaxies to protect my family." A truthful response. The Mrs. added "I don't think he's has ever destroy an ENTIRE galaxy - or at least not that I know of. I've never really asked him about that nor will I ask. It's his decision whether or not to tell me about that." It sort of shut down that topic. LOL

I fully disagree with your conclusion. It may well require superior intellect and more of an open mind. Maybe God or the Gods just don't care about you.

It's because you do have intellect that are coming up with such ideas.
Forget about intellect....stop thinking completely....wipe every last thought from your mind....there...now you know God

I think you're trolling. Sky diving, tubing down a river, baseball, and even horseshoes are fun. Not sins.

You're free to think what you want. None of those thing would bring me pleasure.
And remember, sins are what the preachers says are sins based on their "morality". A woman walking outside showing skin is a sinner according to some preachers. You drinking a beer are a sinner according to another one. Using your computer on the sabbath, yeah that's a sin according to yet another.

No matter how ancient, anywhere it the world, every society that built stone structures had a religious center at the center of the city. Anywhere in the world. Any era.
Why no atheist societies, anywhere, ever, that have endured?
I understand you think are smarter than 99+% of people who ever lived ever anywhere on earth - claiming they have no intellect whatsoever and that, somehow, vastly intellectually superior people like you just coincidentally never formed enduring complex societies of enduring structures. Do you have a theory about that?

Yes they are. That is why a judge wants the facts, not opinions on beliefs.

Yes, if one believes firmly in a supernatural entity, to the point of inquisitions and jihads or hating without a just cause the way the mainstream religions do, while preaching against the law of the land, they should be made considered as traitors to their country.

We give the bastards tax breaks to subvert our own laws. Insanity reigns in the U.S. more than anywhere else.

    I do.

Inquisitions and jihads wiped out the remnants of many creeds, including atheist.

The atheists were in the Mystery Schools where god was sought, and not in the idol worshiping god religions, who were killing en mass.

Have you noticed as as we progress, finally, atheists are reverting to their older and better ways. Now if only literalist Christians would do the same thing. Happy Days then.

So your argument is that the path to fun is being an alcoholic coke head?

Do you think that is a persuasive argument? Really? I think those are the path to personal destruction and a failed life, and I'm not a religious person and did plenty of drinking and drugs. My life was built around vices. Fortunately, I wised up before it was too late.

I saw many older guys who hadn't - prematurely derelict old men sitting down at the end of the bar who had lived your fun life. The ending story of their lives was burned out brains, burned out bodies, hoping someone will buy them a drink, will listen to them telling how great they used to be for the 1,000th and maybe somehow coming up with $10 for a bj from one of the alcohol and drug burned out middle aged women looking like derelict old women that no one tried to pick up unless truly desperate.

Now? I can't stand being around drunks and druggies and all their stupid loud talk.

Nothing about your message says "fun" to me. It took years to figure it out - but I did. Looking back, to me, it says being a fool who never grew up and jumped from being developmentally stunned, immature straight then to being a worthless middle aged man looking a couple decades other than they are.

If the Christian world only knew, they would all become Gnostic Christians and heal themselves.

Since history is on my side for the entire known history of the human race, everywhere, covering thousands of years, do you have anything to back that up? But then you don't seem to be able to discuss as a theory across all of human societies - only from your personal open hatred of Christians, meaning hatred of the majority of Americans in that hatred.

Do you mean enlightened leaders like Mao, the mass murderer?

As for the countries atheists like to point to - Sweden, Norway etc - their greatness was built when highly, even extremely, religious people across centuries and thousands of years. There is no way to make a case by them given how briefly they have been a majority if atheists given that their 1st world status and wealth came when notably religious (and Christian).

You only have that one life. Nobody has proven the existance of an afterlife where you'll be judged. Why restrain yourself instead of enjoying that single life to the fullest? Who do you think had a fuller and fun life between Mick Jagger and John Paul II? I'd rather be a burned out star than be a dimly lit candle in a church.

It is wrong, but it isn't necesseraly a sin to religious people. Hell, the torah, the bible and the koran all have adult having sexual relation with minors. Jesus is the product of child rape. And todays priest and preachers also turn a blind eyes to it when it suits them.

'You know, I'm not going deeper into your just spewing out hatred of Christians. If you want to debate some specific religious dogma you personally hate, find someone else.

I've grown past the idea of having any interest of hanging out with anyone like Mick Jagger - and the last time I listened to his music was driving home minutes ago such as Street Fighting Man. But hang out with him? No interest whatsoever. Nor John Paul II. Not all religions have an after-life in their dogma.

As I've said repeatedly, I'm not a religious person. I gather you have far less actual experience having your definition of "fun" than I and many, many other people I've known. I worked in a large, ghetto night club of exotic dancers and plenty of drugs and booze for well over a decade. Did all your "fun" stuff and more. I do not regret that stage of my life but I knew the ending of the story because I saw those derelict men and women almost every night - pathetic people - and fortunately had opportunity and intelligence to bail out while I still could. I went back to visit 1 time about a decade later. My "friends" - all who continued a life of your fun - looked like walking death.

Oh yeah, I also am not going to debate an alcoholic or druggie about anything. Maybe you are. If not, why not since that is what you want? No one is stopping you.
