    How Congress Can Give Americans $2K Relief Checks and Cut Omnibus Pork to Pay for It

    https://www.breitbart.com/politics/...ef-checks-and-cut-omnibus-pork-to-pay-for-it/

    ACCORDING TO BREITBART;

    So how much would it cost? The last round of $1,200 payments to adults and $400 to children cost approximately $218 billion. Raising the payments to adults to $2,000 and keeping all other things equal would increase the cost to around $349 billion. The lower amount in the current bill will cost around $166 billion, according to the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget. So that leaves a funding hole of around $183 billion.

    To offset this $183 billion increase, we have identified the following potential cuts from the omnibus bill. In multiple sources of funding, as noted below, lawmakers allotted money well over what Trump had requested. These funds are labeled as “excess funding.”

    • $8 billion for the Overseas Contingency Operations/Global War on Terrorism
    • $1.7 billion for USAID operations abroad
    • $26.5 billion for “Bilateral Economic Assistance” abroad
    • $3.3 billion for “Global Health Programs”
    • $4.4 billion for “International Disaster Assistance”
    • $3.4 billion for “Refugee Assistance”
    • $2.4 billion for “democracy programs”
    • $1.7 billion for Jordan
    • $1.9 billion for “international food aid”
    • $35 billion in new clean energy initiatives to fight climate change
    • $9 billion for “international security assistance”
    • $5.9 billion for the “President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR)”
    • $950 million for “basic education” programs in foreign countries
    • $740.3 million for “educational and cultural exchange” programs in foreign countries
    • $1.5 billion for “Contributions to International Organizations”
    • $224 million tax breaks for motor sports venues
    • $16 billion tax credit for businesses that hire individuals facing “significant barriers to employment”
    • $1 billion tax credit for “special expensing rules for entertainment productions”
    • $13 billion tax breaks for clean energy initiatives
    • $9 billion in tax credits for beer, wine, and distilled spirits producers
    • $2 billion “to enable better scientific information about the Earth and its changing climate”
    • $16.2 billion in excess funding for transportation, housing, and urban development
    • $19.2 billion in excess funding for the Department of Labor, Department of Education, and Health and Human Services
    • $6.9 billion in excess funding for energy and water development
    • $12.3 billion in excess funding for the Federal Emergency Management Agency
    TOTAL CUTS: $203,814,000,000

    ------------------------

    HOWEVER, HOWEVER, HOWEVER.......No one can fool me with numbers

    Breitbart stated; The last round of $1,200 payments to adults and $400 to children cost approximately $218 billion.

    FALSE! FALSE! FALSE!

    According to my research, the last round of $1,200 payments cost $271 billion, therefore, a round of $2,000 payments, $400 to children would cost approx. $450 billion VERSUS Breitbart's $349 billion, thus, $100 billion more.

    TOTAL CUTS needed from Omnibus; $300 billion VERSUS Breitbart's $203 billion

    Source; Monthly Treasury Statement;

    Go to.....Outlays

    Go to.....Department of the Treasury

    Go to.....Economic Impact Payments to individuals and families........listed as "other''

    APRIL issue; $217 billion

    MAY issue; $51 billion......Breitbart forgot this entry

    JUNE issue; $3 billion......Breitbart forgot this entry

    Total; $271 billion

    MERRY Christmas!

    Trump, his loyalists, and Kelly Loeffler's RATIONALE;

    ''Eliminate the wasteful items, and then, increase stimulus checks from $600 to $2,000''

    Sounds goooooooooooood, but here's;

    THE MATH

    Question; If a $600 stimulus package equates to a cost of $166 billion, what $2,000 equates to?

    Answer; $553 billion

    Cost differential; $533 - $166 = $387 billion

    NOTE: Trump's wasteful spending are listed in the $1.4 trillion OMNIBUS Appropriations Bill, and mainly Discretionary Spending, however, do they amount to said cost differential of $387 billion?

    Let's see;

    $1.4 trillion - $387 billion ''wasteful spending'' = $1.013 trillion

    Question: Are the following spending items listed in the $1.4 trillion Appropriations Bill, wasteful?

    Base Defense; $672 billion
    Veterans Affairs; $243 billion
    Homeland Security; $51 billion

    Total $966 billion

    NOPE!

    Therefore, amount remaining to fund the following Branches, Departments, Agencies, ($1.013 trillion - $966 billion) = $47 billion

    Executive Branch
    Legislative Branch
    Judicial Branch
    Department of Agriculture
    Department of Commerce
    Department of Education
    Department of Energy
    Department of Health and Human Services
    Department of Housing and Urban Development
    Department of the Interior
    Department of Justice
    Department of Labor
    Department of State
    Department of Transportation
    Department of the Treasury:
    Social Security Administration;
    NASA
    Office of Personnel Management
    Corps of Engineers
    National Science Foundation
    Small Business Administration
    General Services Administration
    Environmental Protection Agency

    CONCLUSION: Trump's wasteful spending listed in the $1.4 trillion Omnibus, certainly do not amount to said ($600 to $2,000 cost differential), $387 billion. The truth is; DEFICIT SPENDING will largely fund Trump's $2,000 stimulus checks, thus, attention Trump's loyalists/self-acclaimed fiscal conservatives; Stop the hypocrisy!

    Just open up the country and we wouldn't be talking about this crap. If the politicians want us to set home without a paycheck they should set the example. Open up the country -- Some people have to be sacrificed to save other people. There I said it. This is no way to live when there are options. I'm willing to take my chance and if I die then it's my time. "We all die, it's just a question of when".

    Oh yeah, take more money from the citizens. The politicians never have enough of our money. We don't have a taxing problem we have a spending problem.

    H.R. 133 totals $1.4 trillion and reflects conference agreements for the FY 2021 appropriations bills. It furthers House Democrats’ commitment to investing For The People with substantial increases to non-defense spending alongside small increases for defense-related programs.

    In total, the package provides:

    • $671.5 billion in base defense funding, a $5 billion increase over FY 2020;

    • $656.5 billion in nondefense funding, an $20 billion increase over FY2020;

    • $77 billion for Overseas Contingency Operations (OCO)—$69 billion for defense activities and $8 billion for nondefense activities; and

    • An additional $3.1 billion in emergency funding to fund agency operations impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, $2.35 billion in funding for wildfire suppression activities, $1.9 billion for program integrity initiatives, and $474 million medical research associated with the 21st Century Cures Act.

    https://case.house.gov/uploadedfiles/summary_of_h.r._133_appropriations_provisions.pdf

    NOTE: Not a huge increase from FY2020 (less than 3% increase). Did the President read last year's Approriations Bill?

    As far a I can remember, I have never paid much attention to Breitbart. Now that is out of the way, that $900 billion relief bill was a travesty.

    I don't know how many people the $600 check was supposed to go out to, but it is trivial compared to the whole $900 billion. If it was assumed it went out to 200 million citizens, that is only $120 billion. Trump is right to veto it. They should tear apart that $900 billion bill and publish the name of every congressman who sponsored one of the porks.

    $900 billion is enough to give every man woman and child in the US $2000 and still have over $200 billion left over.

    I think they should close most overseas military bases, bring nearly all of the troops home and we certainly don't need the DHS.

    All it effectively is is the exact same thing we had before with a different organizational structure.

    But what about the lobbyists? Don't they deserve to keep their clients?
