Your problem is with the dictionary definition - not me.

    "ad hominem

    1. appealing to one's prejudices, emotions, or special interests rather than to one's intellect or reason.

Irrational blind hate filled partisan ad hominem attacks on Trump are very common.
It is a little late to get defensive about someone pointing out the obvious.

I live in this world. I wish Trump's followers would join us instead of becoming an army of blind Alex Jones clones. Trump did far worse than just mishandle COVID, at least for those of us who care about limited government. Anyone capable of reading a graph can see he deserves no credit for the economy. I'm not sure if you meant "moral" or "morale" so not sure how to respond to that one, I've criticized the "leftist riots" etc. I realize you have your orders to copy/paste the word "Kool-Aid" every time you see a reality that offends your worship of this undeserving, empty suit, but that won't make it true. But, sure, the military is stronger. Congrats on getting one thing right.

When you fix an election, you are always going to claim "sore loser" to the victim. That's just a given. If you didn't want to fix the election you would have just said "put on your mask and go to your local precinct and vote in person. If you need an absentee ballot, provide an excuse and apply. That is the only secure way to vote and you were warned. But no....you didn't want that. You made last minute changes against the States Constitution, and put cardboard on windows to hide observation. Now you use the excuse "there has always been some fraud, just not enough to swing an election". Well.....this time it did, and I want to see the names of all those involved who are going to prison.

    LOL.

Your interpretation is hilarious. 82% not thinking he should be the "most admired" doesn't mean they don't like him.....which you are CLEARLY implying.

No, it's just that I actually understand how dictionaries work and am capable of diving a little deeper than just copy/pasting the first definition I think I can abuse.

The topic is the hominem, sweetie. Discussing his character is not an ad hominem fallacy when the topic is his character. I'll try to use an example that I give to my students that seems to sink in for most of them: if we had a debate about whether the color blue or the color red is more popular and someone brings in evidence that blue is more popular, is that an ad populum fallacy? (Spoiler: the answer is no, it is not).

There is no evidence the election was "fixed." Trump's "sore loser" act is a character flaw, not a legitimate complaint. <Mod Edit>

Trump did very well given the determined opposition he faced from a united corrupt bipartisan ruling political class.
    Nevertheless, he made many mistakes.

Never once have I listened to more than 15 seconds of Alex Jones. (It's morale....thanks for the correction.) I don't need a graph to judge the economy. I am in business. College Professors make graphs, I'll leave that to them and their Marxist proteges. Left stream media parrots your narrative......or maybe it's the other way around.
I still am waiting to hear how the China Virus handling could have been any better. The left just likes the control they can have over people. It prepares them for what they would like to eventually install. "DO AS I SAY NOT DO AS I DO. Shut down New York is far worse off than Florida where some freedom still exists. Do you think the Biden Crime Family who would have reacted much later (because they thought it was a racist claim) would have done better than Trump? The Donald did order mass production of ventilators when Dems were crying "we're gonna run out. He did send in a Hospital Ship to New York after Cuomo loaded nursing homes with infected people.

Ad hominem is always irrational. Hence the definition.

Trump's character can easily be criticized without resorting to ad hominem hate speech.
    Surely you know that.

Yes and sometimes his words made me bite my tongue........but so do the words of many great leaders. I tend to judge their results. Had a Juan McCain or Smitten Romney held office, Nancy would have gotten her way every time!

That does not change the way that the Trump-worshipping right has begun emulating him with fringe conspiracy theories that have no basis in facts.

Morale has mostly improved for his followers.

You do if you are going to base your opinion on facts.

    As am I.

Econ professors are notoriously conservative. And isn't just college professors who make graphs. People who actually care about numerical facts frequently consult them.

I'm likely to the right of you on economics. I definitely am to the right of Trump and most of my policy criticisms of him have come from the economy right.

Please learn that there is more to conservatism than licking Trump's boot. Or, at least, I hope there remains something else.

You said yourself that it was one thing he didn't do well.

    Desperate, off-topic, whataboutist distractions.

Trump dragged his heels when it came to ventilators and PPE. Yes, he did a good job with the hospital ship, assuming he played any active role in that at all.

And yet The Big Lie was not enough to defeat Trump in a fair and free election.

Gallup just proved the obvious - again. The election was rigged.

The topic is his character. I have explained what I don't like about his character and why I do not admire him. I am happy to provide examples and have offered to do so. Should you be interested in the topic, feel free to engage it. I've corrected your misuse of the ad hominem fallacy. If you would like to learn what it really means, feel free to consult the link I provided.

It is cute that you think so, but it is completely divorced from reality. No, the Gallup poll proves no such thing, and you know that.

Trump was a very effective president.
OTOH, GOP politicians and candidates are generally inept and corrupt. That is a very bad combination.

Yes, the Gallup poll that reveals that Trump is the most admired man in America proves the election was rigged.
As if there has ever been any doubt. ;-)

No, what you have done is spew common ad hominem hate speech at Trump and at his supporters.
    Read the dictionary.

    You don't say?

I think everybody understands the meaning of the term.

You have ALREADY posted it 4 Times in this thread.

Anyway, back to the Actual OP Topic, such polls are just a snapshot and really don't indicate much.

Besides, if Trump was so "admired" then why did Trump LOSE to Biden in a Landslide?

Of the two of us, only one has refused to read.

Are you willing to actually engage the topic?

The OP asked what we thought of Trump's admirability. I said I did not admire him. The first reason I gave is that he is a con man. "Con man" is short for "confidence man." It refers to people who gain the confidence of others and then deceive them in order to take advantage of them, often for monetary gain. Trump has admitted, under oath, that he did just that. It is, objectively, an accurate descriptor.

There are only three possibilities that remain:

    1) You disagree about him being a con man, which we can discuss
    2) You disagree that this is an unadmirable trait, which we can discuss
    3) You refuse to engage in the discussion

If you can't bring yourself to engage in 1 or 2, then I can only assume you have no honest intent to discuss the topic, making this a farewell.

Clearly, you didn't. Not if you think it proves voter fraud.
