...Along with public and private meetings and formal policy statements like those of an actual president, only issued from the Shadow White House at Mar-a-Lago, still-President Trump has three mighty levers to continue to push hard.

First, leverage the a near-record 227 Article III federal judges he got confirmed by suing, suing and suing some more to stop every Biden bill, executive order, departmental directive – heck, when “fake 46” as much as blows his nose. Just as liberals have done.

Second, rallies. Wall-to-wall, in every red state, opposing leftish efforts to undo his accomplishments and supporting primary challenges to recalcitrant RINOs – not to mention showing his continuing base of support in contrast to Sleepy Joe’s imaginary 80 million voters.

And of course, his signature tweets.....

I’m all for this idea. I’ve been talking about it with friends and family since the election began to be stolen. A shadow President with a shadow cabinet modeled after the UK is a great idea. It would give the strongest possible voice to the loyal opposition, promote opposition ideas as well as opposing the initiatives of the illegitimate regime. To top it off, Trump should be the one designated to give the GOP response speech to Biden’s state of the union next month.

There is nothing in the constitution preventing the loyal opposition from using its free speech, petition, and assembly rights to create such a shadow executive branch. The beauty of it all is that Trump wouldn’t have to declare for 2024 right away and he could use money left over from the current election contesting fundraising to run it and use it to mobilize opposition to socialism and in support of his own initiatives.

Look at the three comments at the bottom, after the article. I tend to agree with the third comment:

    upload_2021-1-1_23-23-6.png

A "shadow government" would be up against tens or hundreds of thousands of elected and unelected bureaucrats in the existing Washington Swamp, and you see what already happened to the first political outsider President the people managed to elect in many decades.

That plan is more elaborate than necessary even if it were allowed to stand.

Trump will be a King maker going forward. Twitter will ban his account, and he'll move to Parler. Parler is already gaining people who've been censored. If YouTube channels get defunded for interviewing Trump, then he'll make Rumble popular. More importantly, he knows which Senators and Reps are in his corner and which are not. The people also know who's who. Certainly continued rallies and endorsements of candidates will be valuable. Trump isn't going to be silent, but I think a shadow government is a little too "fussy" a concept, and unnecessary. Trump has allies and 10's of millions of supporters. He can get his opinions out with no problem and have Congressmen drafting preferred legislation.

Oh great. The group that gave us "alternative facts" will now give us a fake "alternative president."

There is nothing crazy or moronic about the idea of Trump setting up a shadow government of our executive branch to resist policy or to propose new policies. The whole concept of a UK style shadow government is long overdue and Trump is the kind of anti establishment politician who could quite well pull it off and he has a following ready to listen and attend large tea party style rallies.

Australia always has had one - it is called “the opposition” and the leader has the official title of “Leader of the Opposition”. Basically it is a two party system with minor parties thrown in - often as balance of power, or as, Don Chip famously stated “To keep the bastards honest”. Which is considered by my fellow citizens as the most typically Australian commentary on our politics

    Lols!

unfortunately I do not see the American system surviving a bicameral presidential system

Except there is no provision for that in the constitution

And there is nothing supporting it either will it be government funded? Where will it reside? What will the functions be in relation to actual governing?

There’s nothing preventing it either on an informal basis. We can use our free speech, petition, and assembly rights to do it and have it privately funded. There’s nothing illegal or unconstitutional about it.

I hope this works and it splits the Republican party irreparably.

Team trump is a cult masquerading as a political ideology

Of all the people y’all chose an immoral failed impeached selfish greedy multiple time adulterous bankrupt failed tv star that has been involved in dozens of legal entanglements including embezzlement from a veterans charity and an educational institution — that has divided this nation unlike anyone since the civil war whose supporters believe is god-sent.

I guess he does resemble the beloved fox news, lies with pretty blonds on the side.

The moment your “shadow government” begins interfering with government it becomes sedition.

But the orange idiot cannot even schedule a press conference at the right Four Seasons so this might be a complex task.
Make sure you mortgage your home to help!

Is this a real thing? I never heard of a shadow government before? Is it only a shadow president? Are there shadow senators, governors and members of congress? Does Trump automatically get to become the shadow president or do people get to vote? Who was the last shadow president? Is it always the losing candidate? Was it Hillary Clinton a shadow president?

And they will form policy, have commander-in-chief status, and negotiate treaties with other countries?

    Lulz.

Opposition is fine. Pretending to the the "alternate" government is bat-**** insane.

A shadow government has no governing power. It simply leads opposition to the policy of the government and advocates for alternative policies.

That would make it an opposition party, not a shadow government. It would be more palpable if you used proper terminology.

Just 4 years ago, republicans were outttttttrrrrraged that Obama had anything to say in regards to the Trump administration, and villified him for his 'lack of class' (gosh that seems so funny to hear now after 4 years of oafish behaviour in the white house) for daring to speak out. In reality, Obama stayed pretty much completely out of the lime light, expressing himself on this administration seldomly until Biden's run for the he presidency; but republicans demanded he retire fully, a la W Bush.
Now you are applauding Trump trying to intefere with the incoming administration, holding rallies on inauguration day, and needlessely and frivolously suing the administration (as they are already doing now).
Talk about lack of class, and a real short term memory issue.
It is sad to see what decent, god fearing, good republicans have become in so little time

They should make that 4 Seasons landscape gardening shop the HQ for their pretend Government. It would be appropriate.

Interesting solution you have there ... if we split the country into separate factions, then we can save the country ... sort of the Confederate Solution.
    How'd that work out?

When you've cast away any and all principles to sign up with a cult of personality, you've got problems - not least what happens when the Leader dies or is otherwise removed from the scene. Where will Trumpism go, without Trump? What is left of the GOP will be consumed with fighting by pretenders grasping after the Ring. And even if you fantasize that Trump-appointed judges will act as Trump's partisans, it's very doubtful that they will do the same for any other Fascist-aspirants who didn't appoint them to their positions.

I don't know about a shadow Presidency but I've wondered for years why the GOP didn't have a shadow cabinet when they were out of power. It makes since to have a counter to a Democratic government's policies.

Any precocious 8th grader would have instantly understood that "shadow government" was slang and not intended in OP to be some variation of official U.S. federal government policy.

Sadly though, this forum is what it is.

Trump should explore private sector solutions such as television networks, search engine alternatives, Trumpphone, Trump Studios, "Trumpbook" and a whole slew of other options that will have VC and bankers beating a path to the door of a man who can mobilize and effectively market to half a billion audience worldwide. At this point, I'd far rather he leverage his brand in the private sector as opposed to public, would be far more damaging to the country's authoritarian enemies in MSM, social media, woke corporatism, foreign malefactors.
