Perhaps you aren't familiar with the concept.

    se·di·tion /səˈdiSH(ə)n/
    noun
    1. conduct or speech inciting people to rebel against the authority of a state or monarch.
    https://www.latimes.com/politics/st...-rhetoric-incites-supporters-capitol-takeover

"The situation escalated just moments after Trump, speaking at a “Save America March” gathering at the opposite end of the National Mall, vowed to “never concede” the election and urged his supporters to march to the Capitol to pressure Republican lawmakers to act with “the kind of pride and boldness that they need to take back our country” — by rejecting states’ election results that show Biden won."

    https://www.news4jax.com/news/polit...king-trump-roll-into-capital-to-cheer-him-on/

"Trump told his morning crowd at the Ellipse that he would go with them to the Capitol, but he didn’t. Instead he sent them off with incendiary rhetoric."

“If you don’t fight like hell, you’re not going to have a country anymore,” he said. “Let the weak ones get out,” he went on. “This is a time for strength.”

At the same rally, Rudy Giuliani said “Let’s have trial by combat.” Trump has been tweeting to his supporters for weeks, urging them to join him in DC on Jan. 6.

    https://www.nytimes.com/2021/01/05/us/politics/dc-protests.html

"Patrick Byrne, the founder of Overstock.com and a vocal Trump backer, spoke of a White House meeting that he and Mr. Flynn attended last month, suggesting that the idea of claiming foreign interference as a way to invalidate the election was discussed with the president."

Their purpose was to stop or prevent the congressional confirmation of the Electoral College votes of each state, the final process in confirming the election results. This is what Trump urged them to do. It fits the definition of sedition.

She's urging verbal harassment, not violence. Try again.

And yet it led to physical confrontations. What do you expect a mob of people getting in peoples faces to accomplish? Trump didn’t tell anyone to storm the capital yet that’s what the MSM is implying. It’s flat out WRONG!!!

2020 - All this violence is terrible. Let's defund the police.

I saw a photo of those same Capitol steps last summer when BLM had a scheduled protest. The entire area that yesterday's mob occupied was literally carpeted with troops, just in case. This time, nothing like that. In fact, there is at least one video showing an officer high-fiving invaders and taking selfies with them. I'll leave the forum participants to draw the applicable conclusion as to why the big difference in response. It ain't rocket surgery.

Could you please link to an article about leftist violence that can be attributed to Waters' urge to verbally harass.

This is whataboutism in its most egregious form. A direct causation can be shown between Trump's tweets and rally speeches in the last couple of months to the un-American violence that took place in our Capitol building yesterday. Unless you can show a direct correlation, if not causation, between Maxine's rant and physical violence, you got nothin'.

Nope. It doesn't prove that. Just like it doesn't prove the opposite.

Nancy Pelosi said that Waters' comments were unacceptable. You've just rationalized them.

If you want to be against violence, is it good enough to tweet something about it while you defund the police, fund violent groups, and urge others to support those groups?

Thank you, I wondered how someone was going to inject the race card. Winner, Winner, Chicken dinner.
Get the fainting couch ready, the pearl clutching from the alt-left is well into motion.
They must have been in the basement for the last 9 months and missed the billions of dollars in damage caused by "peaceful protesters".

"The shocking scene was met with less police force than many of the Black Lives Matter protests that rolled across the country in the wake of George Floyd's killing at the hands of Minneapolis police officers last year. While federal police attacked peaceful protesters in Lafayette Square outside the White House over the summer, clearing the way for Trump to take a photo in front of a nearby church at the time, protesters on Wednesday were able to overrun Capitol police and infiltrate the country's legislative chambers."

2020 - The riots that lasted for months and caused billions in damage were mostly peaceful.
2021 - The people entering a public building are violent insurrectionists!

USA Today has a picture of dust on the floor as evidence of this widespread insurrection!

There are two fictions that exist in America today. Both are contrived by two opposing political parties with incentive to program your opinions. Don't worry about what people say. Watch what they DO.

What do you imagine that woman was doing when she was shot by capitol police? Does it really matter what she was actually doing? Does it matter what everyone else was doing?

It IS on-topic if we're discussing whether or not protesting at the Capitol and "disrupt[ing] govt procedure" amount to "sedition" which is the claim that you made. Are all disruptions of government procedure "sedition"? Only ones where Republicans are doing the disrupting (which seems to be the standard you're trying to advocate)? Or are none of them actually "sedition"?

Again stay on topic. Those that broke into the Capitol, broke the law. They broke in during session, to stop govt procedure because they cannot accept the election outcome. AKA, sedition !!!

Again, merely "disrupting government procedure" does not constitute "sedition". If so, anyone who ever interrupted a city council meeting could be up for sedition charges. Do you even know what sedition means?

@mdrobster let's just make this simple: which subsection of US Code, specifically, do you think those protesters who entered the Capitol building should be charged with?

The ones that broke into the chamber, offices and destroyed property should be charged with sedition.
