I am just curious if anyone posting here has yet to receive the vaccine?
If so, have you had both shots?

Maybe most important, if you have, how were you able to get it?

Here in NY it is a complete nightmare.

The state has a site that lists state run vaccination centers but none have availability and even if they did, none are reasonably close enough to get to.

No replies, does that mean no one received it and they are not interested in it either???????

Seems to me this should be a top thread.

Not interested. Already had covid for about two weeks and got over it. Wasn't even as bad as the flu. I temporarily lost my sense of taste and smell, so the end result is that I lost 20 pounds and quit smoking...

It has been a relatively low rollout in my area. Our health department has been inundated with calls and is keeping a list of people interested in the vaccine. However, we have no information on where we are on the list or the expected wait times.

We live in a senior living community. The shots are coming to us in our residence. :)

    Wow!

    God bless you!

    I am glad for you

    Peace

    -------------------

Funny story, well actually it's kinda' sad. I was able to schedule an appointment for the vaccine. I was pretty excited about it. (I am over 65 with cancer so Memorial Sloan Kettering sent me a link) and when I told my significant, she became furious as she wants to get the shot but she is too young. Has not spoken to me for 3 days now, not a word.
    Can you imagine?

Humans. a failed species. Just more proof.

    Peace

No, I'm not. However, there is an apartment complex in my town that is solely for seniors. They are getting vaccinated right in their apartments. They have been instructed to leave their door propped open as the workers move from apartment to apartment. That way they can immediately know if someone has had a bad reaction. They started there this week.

I have no idea where I am on the priority list but it's probably rather low.

In NY, no one under 65 is accepted to any lists.

    Even with comorbidities.

Judging from your population your are either in PA or IL.

Seems they are doing a poor job of getting out the vaccine? Or is it just a shortage of vaccine?

    Yep. In IL.

I just read today that they are expanding options for dentists to administer the vaccine so it may be a distribution problem. I live in a small town (less than 9K) and am not a senior or essential worker so I don't know when I'll become eligible.

One of my sisters in law has received shot number 1 and is scheduled to get shot # 2 tomorrow. She works in healthcare though. I cannot even get a covid antibody test, let alone a covid vaccine. My city has a website you can pre-register for the vaccine on but it isn't like anybody can get it so it is another one of those appear as if you are doing something without actually doing anything meaningful.

my significant is much younger than I, i doubt she will get it before late Spring. Could well be later.
    Maybe. maybe not...

The new idea being pushed is that we only give one shot to people so we can vaccinate more people. I heard this on MSNBC this morning.

So we will have more people partially vaccinated. This would lead to less deaths in theory but no one will be fully immune.
This would be about as effective as the flu vaccine which we all know does very little.

    This is insanity, period.

The government at every level has ****ed this up beyond belief.

I assume this is your way of saying you are scared of the vaccine.

God bless the anti science contingent in this country.

I’ve not received the vaccine, but my husband has (both rounds). He works in the medical field so it was pretty easy for him to get. We live in Texas and I’m relatively high priority for the vaccine, but even then we’re not expecting me to receive it till some time in the summer. I’ve created a profile on the official website, but I’ve not received any kind of appointment or contact.

no, not yet, but I want it, irritates me they are trying to convince groups to get it that don't want it right now, let the people that want it, get it, then try to convince them

if people want to be anti-vaxers, that is their choice, after we all get it and are fine, that can be used to convince them it is safe

you don't need to sell something to people when demand outpaces supply at such levels, that only creates more demand - the supply side is what needs work right now

Pretty sure I have been exposed, my other half contracted it in a nursing home, over 70 underlying conditions galore, zero symptoms. She was sent home, I cared for her in close proximity for 4 days before other issues required re hospitalisation. They say she requires an isolation room so that means she must still be testing positive. I feel fine.

Me too but I'm about to make the hardest call I ever had to make, she is getting to the point where she requires care beyond my abilities. I have cared for her for 3 years after her stroke. It's worn me down and I have little to show for it. I have a FT job lined up. I'm much younger than her and I have to make hay while the sun shines. I hope no one else has to go thru this.

Sounds like a tough situation. Can’t really offer much but a hope for strength. Sounds like she needs you and it’s good that you’re there for her.
