The fact that our current vaccines aren't perfect is NOT EVEN SLIGHTLY an excuse for refusing vaccination.

All those caveats are undoubtedly real. They make every bit of sense. This vaccine got approval before thorough testing, because we need it now - not because there was enough testing to fully understand its affects or effectiveness.

Besides, the fact that we allow this virus to contine to thrive means that it IS evolving improvements to its assault on humans, including resilience against vaccines we have.

Remember that flu can beat a flu vaccine in about a year of evolution. And, we've already seen COVID figure out how to make itself easier to transmit and more deadly.

Surely you don't believe that means humans should surrender.

Immediately, we need to start working on returning the hundereds of children Trump kidnapped. Kidnapping babies and then deporting the parents such that htey have NO CHANCE of getting their children back is a CRIMINAL OFFENSE that I hope results in the appropriate charges against US officials of the time.

IMHO, Biden should call for the solution created by bipartisan committees and backed by Repubublicans such as Rubio in 2013. That bill passed the Senate and would have passed in the house had Speaker Boehner not blocked it.

That bill has elements that should be highly satisfying to right wingers - including tens of billions of dollars for the southern border, improvements in our visa process (which is how more than half come here to stay), and serious job protection.

 

Mexico has a lower COVID rate than does the USA.

If you have a choice, I'd suggest you gravitate toward recent Mexican immigrants and away from American citizens if you are concerned about COVID.

You can shoot the messenger as much as you want, it doesn't make it any less true that this is what happened. I don't need the media to know. My hospital almost faced the same problem. We were smart in the fact that we refused to follow the guideline that came from Trump's team to use all distributed vaccines for first doses. We did hold back for second doses, not trusting the delivery. Then the delivery faulted... but we were able to get the second doses to our people. Then the Biden team took over and things improved again. You can choose to ignore these FACTS because of your political orientation and shoot any messenger that tells you the truth, but it doesn't make it any less factual.

And yes, absolutely, Biden will get to the 100 million mark in 100 days; actually more, since we're already vaccinating more than one million people per day.

 

We deported the parents.

Finding the parents in various foreign countries so that dna testing could even be done would be a monumental task requiring significat local cooperation in those countries.

At the very least it would require a intesive information campaign in countries that receive our deportees. And, that could include nations all over the world - not just those south of our border. Those we captured could have come from pretty much anywhere and would have been deported to the country of their citizenship.

The chances of a high rate of success seems miniscule but I believe we have a duty to be serious about this effort.

 

It's a fact that N95 masks were reserved as much as possible for front line workers.

AND, its a fact that Trump did nothing to manufacture enough high quality masks even just to satisfy the needs of our front line workers.

Front line workers died at a higher rate than the general population in part because they were not able to buy enough PPE of adequate quality.

There are known cases of FEMA interdicting delivery of PPE purchases made by hospitals!

Trump refused to use the Defense Production Act to cause sufficient PPE to be manufactured.

Trump denied federal support to a company that offered to refurbish a N95 manufacturing line that was capable of creating a MILLION N95 masks per day. That facility had gone unused since foreign manufacturing undercut the market in the US, but since COVID that source dried up for the obvious reason.

I don't know what you mean by "do they work". Masks absolutely DO reduce transmission rate. And, better masks do a better job of that.

 

Don't pop a blood vessel, Will. I've said many times already that I wear a mask, follow all the protocols, and I'm going to get the J&J vaccine as soon as it is available to us "mere mortals".

Before that, I was already willing to get the Moderna vaccine. So don't reply to me on this like I'm an unrepentant HERETIC or something....
