Who’s offended by that? Do YOU think every one who has a smartphone knows how to do everything online? My mother in law has one and can’t do much other than make calls.

 

Those with incomes of $25,000 and less have broadband availability LESS than 50%of the time whether white black or Hispanic. And those trying to substitute a smartphone for a laptop can do so only on a very limited basis. Access too much data via the cell phone and the carrier will double your monthly bill. INCOME means everything, a great many minority seniors do not have the retirement income to support a cell phone or an internet connection each month.

 

Not only that, but all they do is sit around watching netflix. Let's not forget that little diamond.

One only has to look at the gap of latinos and blacks in tech jobs to see the tech gap. It’s not necessarily a bad thing, I bet more latinos can do drywall than whites, but drywall isn’t how you find a vaccine.

I make 23,040 per year gross. I pay 35 per month for my cell phone. 30-Day Unlimited Talk, Text & Data Plan with First 5GB at High Speeds, then at 2G. Straight Talk. Using an android phone that cost me a one time payment of 40 bucks. I also pay 99 per month for broadband for my home. And that's for the best internet I can get in my area currently. I have it for my job. If I didn't work from home I could get much cheaper internet for about 50 bucks less, albeit at slower speeds. And I live in a small town.

Those that don't have internet available are generally those that live in the boonies. Anyone that lives in a town will have internet availability. Even if its just dial-up. (yes, that still exists)

As for your claim about broadband availability, according to the FCC only 6% of American's do not have broadband capability at the threshold speeds. Which by the by is 100mb. Many areas like mine don't have that speed so I guess my area would be included in that 6%. Yet I still have internet speed capable of doing my job.

The report does go on to say that "approximately" 100 million Americans have not subscribed to broadband. Using their threshold of 100mb to get that number no doubt.

The most qualified gets the job, race should not be a factor. It's really simple as that. So race will not always be perfectly represented in all fields. Choosing people due to their race is racist. If there are 4 candidates that apply for a position and they are all white, should they all be denied so a black person can be put in it? If there are none running, do you go force one to do so, so that you can feel better about yourself?
