Officially done then it seems and the Queen can go f herself. Good for Harry. Old Bitch talking s about service. How about her son Andrew's service? Stripping him of any titles is she? Hell, maybe Andy should be rewarded for towing the line, Knight Commander of the Captive Kittens perhaps?

I wish Harry and Meghan great success. I think it takes a fairly substantial bit of courage to tell the Queen and the cult of the UK and remaining Euro Royals to f off.

I've never understood that obsession with people who did nothing but be born to people who did nothing but be born to people who did nothing but be born....guess it's one of those "cultural" things.

I think the monarchy ends with the queen so harry is just getting a jump on the transition to simply worthless celebrity.

I'm surprised it makes the news. I guess a lot of people have a secret fascination with royalty. I can't explain it.

I have a friend who is obsessed with them. Buys all the tabloids and magazines with them in it, all the books written about them and even a copycat tiara like Princess Di wore. It's unbelievable.

The Royalty of England is not going away despite the hopes of many and if Harry does not want to be a part of the tradition that is his right. I only hope for his sake that this decision does not cause his life to become like that of Edward VIII who gave everything up for a cruel and unloving woman.

You raise a good point. Harry has given up a lot for his marriage. Regardless of how tactful the Royals are about this......... there are some hard feelings. The fact remains .......they are his family. What happens if Meagan gets tire red of him and wants a divorce?? He is known to be a sensitive person........and quite easily hurt. He does have a troubled past ....Her background and culture is quite different.........and she has been divorced once before..
Their coming second child will be a a while...... But she has been reputed to be rather demanding. She had a hard time holding staff while in England.
Her sarcastic retort to the Queens statement.......is quite unseemly. She should at least respect her as Harry's grandmother. in her mid nineties. Meagan is the dominant one in that marriage.

but we will see.........as only time will tell.

My wife whose illegal " immigrant" half of her family has connections to and around Nottinghamshire England is Royally pissed at Meagan for "stealing" a Prince. Of course her other half of the family being North American Natives could not give a Royal f...... about Royals English or whatever.

I agree but I let my wife ramble about "her" Royals. I just remind her that if her English half was higher up on the food chain they would not have had to come here and be let into the country by her N.A. Indian half.

I think it's history repeating itself with Harry, so I do feel a bit sorry for him, but I'm unclear how the monarchy really survives the queen. Her kids and grandkids are garbage. Whatever her attributes as a monarch are, she sucked as a parent.

    ''Did nothing'' is not accurate.
The Royals have a long history of military service including active service. Even Prince Andrew flew helicopters during the Falklands conflict.
They all perform public service duties and head numerous charities.
All for not much more than a pound per person a year and most of that goes towards maintaining heritage sites such as royal palaces.
They very rarely stray into politics and are much loved by the majority of the British public.
It's OK though, no one here really cares whether you understand it or not.

    I like Meghan.
She seems like a really nice girl.
    Harry is a Lucky Guy.

They will be able to make a lot of money without Queen Liz

From what I have read , she was a rather cold and almost indifferent mother. Her firs t priority seemed to be her role as Queen. Nannies can be good......but they don't replace the parent. Image and presentation was everything.

Harry is still 6th in line to the throne. He just doesn't have to go lay wreaths and crap.

Why he was so enamoured with Wallace Simpson is a mystery really. Gave up his throne just to be referred to as a "mosquito".

I can only hope for the best. I'm sure that if worst comes to worst, William will welcome him back with open arms. Might not get his duties back, but he will still be part of the family.

Charles is a bit iffy but he most likely won't be King for very long. William on the other hand flew helicopters in the military and flew Medivac helicopters for the NHS. William will make for a fine King.

The royal bloodlines. It's just like trump. They see themselves as superior to everyone else.

I would like to ignore the inbred royal family if possible. However, I guess we are all destined to be impacted by the "Great Reset" kicked off by the tree hugging Prince Charles.

One of the websites I peruse for the LW take on the news is HERE and though a gossip site, they do feature the LW talking points often enough to see what the liberal spin on world events is. And that site - geez, it's like a third of the stories is about the Royal Family.

@Lil Mike is quite possibly correct about the Firm not surviving past QE kicking the bucket. I figure Charles might weather it but William and Kate - known better as Will-Not and Can-Not - are just, well I wouldn't call them garbage but maybe parasites is a better word. Prince Phillip was in his nineties and still doing more work than Harry, William, and Kate combined IIRC, or at least the last two. Considering how absolutely tone-deaf QE was during the whole Prince Andrew affair with Epstein, it's a miracle she herself wasn't deposed. The monarchy is a relic of ancient times that Brit-Cit hardly needs, nor can it afford.

The cost to the British public of the whole Royal Family (the sovereign grant) last year was around $110m which is $30m less than the cost of Trump's golfing trips while he was President. Most of this figure goes towards the costs of public engagements and the upkeep of heritage sites.
In a normal year tourist revenues alone from visits to Royal Palaces and events is estimated to be over $2b.
Unlike Trump, her Majesty pays taxes and works tirelessly for the benefit of her subjects. None of the charities headed by members of the Royal Family have been investigated for fraud.
