I don't see very much common ground. What are you referring to?

There's no common ground because neither side seems to want to work together. Both sides act like petulant children. Working together means BOTH sides have to compromise.

The unity, I see intended, is that we come together as Americans. Face challenges together. Work on solutions together. But, frankly, I don't see unity as a possibility in the country. Not at the moment anyway. More than any other time I can recall, there is great division in the political arena. Each side seeing the other as the 'enemy'.

There is no common ground because the left wants to fundamentally transform America and the right wants to return to traditional values.
And they are both right. The two sides are enemies at a very fundamental level.

Could you explain those 'traditional values'? Its a very innocuous and general term.

Its not bogus to me. And I don't disagree with your point, I was elaborating on it.

I assume it means to change everything at a fundamental level. That idea is anathema to conservatives.

'Traditional', I see, is a relative term. So it would be difficult to get any kind of widespread support for them. And - as an aside - what is SSM? I looked it up but it refers to a great many things.

So wait...you claim the Left wants to fundamentally change everything about America, yet you have no idea what that means??? In order for you to make such a claim I assume you saw some article or video of Dem legislators claiming they wanted to do this AND/OR saw an article or video of Biden saying he wanted to do this, otherwise you're just making it up. So....care to share the links?

You know you don't have to marry someone of the same sex, right?

Okay - so progress is a bad notion? A world in which we honor the rights of women and the LGBTQ community is a bad thing?

As I initially stated, the country is incredibly divided - so unity is a pipe dream.

FYI...you can still be anti-choice, you don't have to marry someone of the same sex, you can own a gun and you don't have to be a feminist.
I'm with you on stopping AA. I get why it started but two wrongs don't make a right. I'm with you on securing our borders.

If Americans are forced to choose between two parties you may end up being disappointed.

What you call progress I call decadence.

That is just the way it is and why we two are irreconcilable on most issues.

Geebus, what a load from both sides.

Unity is a state of universal agreement that does not, has never, and will never exist within any sizeable group of human beings. It isn't in our nature to agree on all things, or for all in a group to agree on any one thing.

    Unity is a pipe dream.

Democrats are turning on Biden. They don't even want unity with Biden. He is that bad.

There is no such thing as human rights. It is a social construct used to push political agendas and forestall critical thinking. You can declare anything a" human right" and then browbeat anyone who disagrees with you as a bad person.

Well I read two daily newspapers each morning (one is local and one is state-wide), in the evening I watch ABC local affiliate 30 minute news, then NBC's Lester Holt's 30 minute news, then Tucker Carlson for one hour on Fox. During my lunch I watch Fox news. And daily I read several website that report the news. I used to listen to Rush when I was near a radio. And I read different posts on the Political Forum. I'm a republican, conservative, veteran, and you can't get any better than that.

How about refuting what I said. Nah. That would require knowing what’s going on. Hard to do that just watching CNN. I know it’s tough. ;)
