For toys, really I don't see them even now being set up as boys and girls, per se. At most, signage would be the only issue. Toys should be separated by types. All the transformers together, MLP together, dolls together, Barbie has its own section, etc.

As to clothes, they still do need to be separated at least nominally into "boys" and "girls" as do the men's and women's selection's. This is due to the cut of the clothes. Granted there is less variation the younger you get. However in my teen years, I wore more girls jeans than boys jeans because the cut fit me better. I was odd for my years. I filled out much later than others. I could see changes in name/label for the types of clothes. But they still need to be separated to be easier to find. And anyone who denies the general build difference between (biologically speaking) males and females is a moron. Hell it's stupid not to note the variations that can exist within either given sex.

Well parents will just love that come back to school and christmas shopping rushes when they are desperately trying to find clothes and toys for their kids just to say they got them something. Shouldn't we also outlaw the use of the term "blouse" since it is gender specific?

Yep, and don't forget, we also have to outlaw "BREAST feeding" in favour of CHEST feeding! :roflol:

It is actually dangerous. Let government start running businesses and we'll be socialist republic in no time. The business community needs to sue the state government - tomorrow.

Unless thing are simply different down under, toys are divided by type and not gender per se. I've not seen anything declaring boy toys and girl toys. Simply having Polly Pockets and G.I. Joe in different aisles isn automatically a gender separation.

Is it? How much of that has to do with cut and style as well? A kilt is a very specific type of wrap skirt, unique by style as well as, traditionally speaking, clan patterns. I've seen both signs for women's blouses, and women's shirts in the same store.

Yeah, that's a road too far. The breast is actually a specific part of the chest, of which men have as well. While less used in language it is there nonetheless. We can see it more in older writings.

I agree. Laws dealing with gender based harassment, including aggressive use of pronoun avoidance, are one thing. Businesses will follow the social trends. Which I do believe will move away from strict definitions of what is "proper" for boys and girls. There was a time even in the early 20th century where infants and toddlers all wore dresses, regardless of age. And with the possible exception of the skirt, not a single article of clothing exists, that has not been worn by both men and women at one time or another.

The problem is the political correctness. The problem is government inserting itself into the management of private businesses. I would start a revolution to stop that.

"the possible exception of the skirt"

You never heard of the kilt laddie? (and what do Scotsmen wear under their kilts? Lipstick)

Or ever seen pictures of the medieval Greek Army uniform?

My 9 year old niece, (the same one who was reading Kierkegaard in the first grade,) was inseparable from her Tonka Trucks until just last year

so if i go buy jeans, does that mean man jeans will be right next to the jeggings? How do i know if my jeans are for men if i'm not getting them from the men's section?
isn't it more offensive to waste more time at the store trying to just FIND the clothes meant for you?
Men's jeans have more crotch space and usually bigger waist to hip area ratio and all and all just don't work for most women and the other way around applies as well.
What's next? tampons right next to men's razors?
This just sounds like it will make the shopping experience way more annoying than it already is

EDIT: I see this thread is geared towards children but male and female children also have different private parts and different bodies and how long before they do this to adult stuff as well?

Ultimately all tops are shirts of some sort even if the word isn't used in the label. Furthermore, a blouse is indeed a specific type of shirt, that has currently fallen out of fashion for men currently, but in no means indicates that men's blouses did not exist nor will not again in the future.

Hmmm, this thread is very quiet on the liberal front. Do none of them have the cajones to just admit this is LAME POLICY?

Did that autocorrect and I missed it? The intended work was "skort" the combination of shorts and skirt. I believe that it is actually a relatively new garment, and as such has not transitioned between the sexes.

What will they do when girls and boys wind up aggregating in separate boy and girl areas?

    Sounds kind of kooky.
    After all, consider the source.

In any event, at this point, it is merely a "proposal".

Get back me when it actually becomes Codified State Law.

    Until then?:bored:

When I was in the U.S. Army I had to blouse my fatigue legs above my boots using blousing garters.
