The Nazi Stage Theme at CPAC

Wow, you just can't make this stuff up. The stage at CPAC is laid out in the exact style of a symbol used as insignia by the Nazis. How does this make sense? Just coincidence? Seems unlikely to me.

Yeah, they just don't seem to be hiding it anymore.

 

Hiding in plain sight. They will probably come out with some explanation that involves firing whoever had that set up as if it was a mistake.

 

US political connections to Nazi ideology are unfortunately quite real and well established. Prescott Bush. Operation Paperclip. Etc. Really sad that Ike let a lot of this develop under his watch.

 

To be honest I would have never known that was a Nazi symbol. I was expecting to see a Swastika. It kind of looks like a Jesus fish.

Maybe there is an international cabal.

The fall of the Berlin Wall on Nov 9, 1989 [that reunified Germany] supposedly happened because of an East German bureaucratic mix-up. But the date was very interesting. Nov 9 is historically called the "German day of destiny" and was a sacred national holiday in Hitler's Third Reich. 1989 was the 100th year of Hitler's birth.

Ironically, both Merkel [president of Germany] and Putin [president of Russia] were in East Germany the fateful night the Berlin wall mysteriously fell. Merkel was in the crowd that fled to the West... while Putin was a KGB agent [some say he was a Stasi agent] in Dresden, Germany.

And it doesn't matter really. Symbols are pretty much meaningless in the modern world. It's when you see Steve Bannon practically quoting Nazi aphorisms word for word that I think it's time to View With Alarm.

 

My 9th grade art teacher would give you a fail on that comparison.

I think the crowds of thousands standing on top of it and beating it with sledgehammers might have had some effect, but that's just me.

You missed the part where access to/from East Berlin was usually heavily guarded and East Berliners could be shot trying to escape to the West. But not on the night of Nov 9. As I posted... the supposed reason it was left unguarded that night and East Berliners were allowed to escape en masse was an "East German bureaucratic mix-up."

Interesting. It's not really that complicated a symbol. It's a rotated square with two sides extended plus 90° wingtips at the end of the extensions. How do you not see it?

I am German and I don't even know of this sign or the symbolism behind it. However, it does seem like a very unusual stage layout to come up with, if unrelated to the Nazi symbol. Is it really just a very low probability coincidence, or a dog whistle to the ultra right? Or maybe someone responsible for designing the stage layout pulled a prank?

 

Yes, it seems to be a low probability that it is simply coincidence and that it is a thumbs up to the ultra right, and the ultra right's co-opted new besties, the regular right....
