Fracking died because the price of oil was TOO LOW. It's so funny that when oil was going up during Trump's time Trump supporters pretended to cheer as that increase they said would help keep American jobs in the fracking industry

Do you suppose Biden's moratorium on oil drilling on Federal land will have no impact on oil prices?

Biden is going to be a disaster for energy prices and supply. Under Trump we achieved energy independence for the first time since 1957. Under Biden, we are likely heading for Jimmy Carter redux with respect to energy shortages.

I filled up a couple of days ago at 2.51 a gallon. I wonder what your state gas tax is, that makes a world of difference.

The canceling of the pipeline was cited by me as a basis for rising prices, not energy independence. The Biden moratorium on drilling on Federal land was cited by me as a basis for Jimmy Carter redux.

And of course, Biden does not control the world oil supply.
He gave that power back to the arabs and others after Trump took control of it.

"The price rise comes amid a substantial increase in demand, with the Energy Information Administration reporting that demand increased from 7.53 million to 8.11 million barrels a day.
Crude oil prices have increased steadily since November, rising from around $36 a barrel to as high as $53 a barrel. They had fallen into the $20 range in March of last year. "

I disagree with him pausing it — I haven’t seen anything that looks out of place in the order and don’t understand why it’s implementation was stopped.

I know the “official” reason was that there were so many EO’s that needed review it was just easier to stop all of them but that smells like BS.

I hate trump waited until he was in his lame duck period to enact many of these changes — why not do them on year one? Seems like a game.

I realize it's a struggle, but think about it. Two months ago, we were energy independent in terms of oil, and exporting.
Now, we have cancelled a pipeline we already invested massive amounts of money in, and curtailed domestic production of oil in many areas.
We are NO LONGER energy independent- and will again be buying arab oil. Biden shot us in the foot, so to speak, to appease the radical environmentalists.
However, the same amount of fuels are still needed and will be consumed, so nothing has changed in the way or pollution by these actions- but now we have to send American dollars offshore to buy oil and to make other nations rich. HOW is that smart?

What part of that don't you understand?

The world operates on reality- not fantasy. Business people like Trump understand that. The people who think they are "woke" and are now super smart.... No.

Well not as long as we have places like North Dakota, but I suspect before Brain bleeder and what's her name are done we will be back to Saudi oil and $4+ a gallon..

Gas prices stabilized when Trump took office- staying been $2- $2.40 in my area for four years. Capitalism certainly wasn't suspended, and until the pandemic, demand was up. Now, demand is down. Airlines have half their fleets parked. People are driving about 40% less. Cruise ships aren't cruising. Still- gas prices stayed the same, around $2.25 here; despite demand being down, costs were stable. Now- demand is still down (except for the added gas being used in molotovs and the like) but the price of fuel- is now UP, and rising.

This is the result of what we in business recognize as "bad management decisions". The kind that fools make which lead them to bankruptcy, and real managers know to avoid.

What you are crowing about is when the U.S. was almost totally dependent on foreign oil/crude.. Even with a full on frontal attempt from Mr. Obatard we increased domestic crude from private lands and are currently at a 30 year low on imported oil..

We pretty much pay pitty money to the Saudi's compared to what we spent under the Bush and Mr.Obatard terms..

Yup, it's like Mr. Obatard remake "Only a slight change in main actors".. But like with Mr. Obatard, brain bleeder will fail too, private lands beat the gubmint then and will beat them again ;)

Trump was blamed for all the bad news. Now it's Biden's turn.

This says it all right here. Facts be damned...it's Biden's fault because "we're upset about how Trump was treated". In other words grown adults are acting like children. How very sad.

That's false. First of all, it's a world market. We consume the lion's share, but worldwide demand is what sets prices. Secondly, the prices went way down after covid. They're now just going back up to where they were.

Supply has remained steady, to my knowledge. Demand is what's driving price. Biden hasn't done anything except fast track the vaccines. That's why futures are up. If you want to blame Biden, fine. Then you have to give him credit for getting vaccines into people's arms.

Another one who thinks that the pipeline from Canada helps US energy independence! If that pipeline went ahead you would be even more dependent on foreign oil and your fracking industry would be destroyed for life
