    I get that and those distinctions are noted in the charges filed. I am also comparing to countless 'protests' where college students stormed the Dean's office during Vietnam in a public university and refused to leave for days and grabbed a letterhead . their intent was more in line with attention seeking headline grabbing etc. Intent matters and that will depend on what each of these rioters knew about a possible insurrection as oppose to a protest for attention, and what they actually did during the occupation. That is going to be different depending on the 'who'.

    Coming to your house and chanting I'm going to mug you and then breaking into your house is terrorism. Even worse when the chant is I'm going to hang you. Scaring people is in the very definition of terrorism.

    Lol, no, it definitely is not. So, all those protestors who protest outside of politicians houses are terrorists? That’s ridiculous. What about that couple that stood their ground outside their house with their guns. Were they fighting terrorism since the protestors came to their home? This “terrorism” label is out of control, and is being placed on anyone the opposition doesn’t like.

    My guess is that he imagined himself to be celebrated as a freedom fighter hero. Must have been a pretty big shock to rather be treated as a common criminal. That's what you get for watching too much extreme RW media.

    funny how the crowd complaining about people being imprisoned for ridiculous amounts of time for minor crimes wants to see people put away for life. Let the drug dealers and gang bangers walk, but lock political protestors up for life!

    Because trespassing on federal property is a crime
    Because beating the hell out of police officers is a crime
    Because stealing property within the capitol building is a crime
    Because threatening to kill Mike Pence is a major crime
    Because delaying the work of Congress is a crime
    Because killing a police officer is a crime

    So, the question is, which part of the word "crime" do you not understand?

    Domestic terrorism is the attempt to acheive political change by violent means instead of the democratic processes that are available to effect change.

    He is most definitely a domestic terrorist.

    There was once a time when even Righties believed in the Constitution and hated terrorists, but alas, those patriotic days are gone.

    You are right. 20 years for that is indeed idiotic. It should be a life-long sentence, in complete isolation, until that man dies alone, penniless, friendless, naked, undernourished and chilled to the bone in a dank, dark rat-infested cell, where he can no longer do harm to others.

    gee, sounds exactly like what protestors for the last 4 years were getting away with. The only difference is you seem to think the fact that they are politicians should make the punishment worse. Christ, you guys were more anxious to let terrorists from Guantanamo bay go than you are these guys.

    I think what they did was stupid, but nowhere near bad enough for ruining their lives. Seems a lot of the left thinks civil disobedience is only ok if it is a liberal agenda.
