On a thread I started, I raised the idea that the right to bear arms would have given the people of Myanmar a fighting chance against there oppressive government. The thread got derailed as they often do, but I thought it was an interesting argument in favour of the 2nd amendment.

Yes I remember that thread but the premise was flawed. If the people of Myanmar already had a 2nd Amendment before the coup, there probably would have been less chance of a coup or it would have had a very precarious existence due to an armed citizenry. However I think you were pushing arming the people now; post coup. That's simply arming rebels to fight against the government and has nothing to do with the 2nd Amendment. Oh and you wanted the US to do the arming for some reason.

 

I agree with him. Im an avid gun supporter but he’s right. Which is exactly why he’s decreasing the size of the national guard. The only way the federal government can be held in check is by our national guard who answers to the state governor. If states start picking sides is the only real way a civil war can happen. In that scenario we would have F-15 but I doubt anyone would want to nuke our own country. That’s absurd he would even suggest that and shows what he might do.
