Please don't bother replying if you're going to say stuff like "many more could've been saved". This is strictly a question about how many were saved by the measures actually implemented.

But while I'm at it, how many American died BECAUSE OF the Covid-19 prevention measures such as people who couldn't get medical care for other problems in a timely manner?

Why or how would anybody posting here know that information?

And, while look at the number of deaths due to the postponement of medical care/surgeries, are you including the people that died because they lost their jobs and/or housing? What about the people trapped in other countries or hospitalized away from home?

How far reaching are you trying to go?

From what I understand (which could be wrong, of course) there were no elective surgeries during the most desperate Covid time. Life saving procedures were carried out.

Distancing yourself from sick people is a good idea, but in many cases the viruse spread more quickly with people who observed the lockdowns. Even Andrew Cuomo acknowledged that at one point.

I would like to see what would have hapoened had we taken measures to protect the eldery or people with serious health issues and kept the healthy people working.

I think the actions taken by government cost the untimely death of thousands.

That varied from state to state and even county to county. I know a couple of people that lost family members who were postponed (ie. condition wasn't immediate life-threatening, but the delay in treatment lead to rapid health decline. One died of kidney failure and I think the other person's mom had some kind of female trouble that wasn't looked at until it was too late).

Excellent point. Doesnt this seem like information that would be useful for future cost/benefit analysis? And yet, there doesnt seem much interest in finding out...

I'm shocked by how many people support this massive abuse of power by government. This does not bode well for our future. It's obviously going to happen again and again.....

The numbers have been grossly manipulated since the Plandemic began. From death certificate manipulation to the many false positives of the PCR test run at high cycles, the government data is virtually meaningless.

The goal was to terrorize the gullible masses so they would happily become crash test dummies for Pharma. That strategy worked brilliantly.

The lockdown could have been handled better. Anecdotally, back when they used to report such things, almost all of our local clusters were inside families, and of the people I know personally who had it had it spread throughout their families. This suggest to me that social distancing was at least a correct part of the lockdown formula.

Locally dentist offices were the only medical places that closed for any extended period of time, so I doubt that led to any deaths. If someone needed medical treatment but were too afraid to seek it, then that is on them. The biggest single-point killers were nursing homes where people should have been getting any medical care they needed. I don't know about where you people live, but nursing homes in my area generally sucked even pre-covid. You seldom see a window open, they are cramped spaces, they hot sheet patients so that as soon as a bed is vacant, they have someone on the way to fill it, and the medical care usually consists of 1 doctor for an hour in the morning writing prescriptions based on the charts and 1 late in the evening for an hour, neither of which really sees many patients face to face and that is about it.

The initial estimates for the death toll were around 2 million - so……….

What are these estimates based on? Someone's opinion, that's what.

These lockdowns and stay at home orders caused more problems than they prevented. They caused both physical and mental health problems.

It is still damaging us. People are begging for workers but workers now have an inflated sense of self worth supported by govt. handouts.

It's going to take a few years to reverse the damage caused by these abusive government actions.

Yes it is but first we have to get rid of the cause and that is deeply embedded in the fabric of our government today.
