How about in front of an Arby's? It has the solemnity of indoor dining. We could have the "Bobby Lee Half Pound Beef 'n Cheddar" and the "Stonewall Smokehouse Brisket." We could even have the "Jeff Davis Chicken Tenders 3P" on account Jeff was found hiding in women's clothes by the Union Army.

Put the boys right out front in the parking lot. Light 'em up nice.

Those statues are potential museum pieces that can tell future generations the Civil War story without making the men demagogs to be looked up to; if presented properly.

I meant to add they should never be displayed in a place of honor, only in the context of how much the cost of freedom has been and what a terrible war we fought amoungst ourselves that should NEVER be repeated.

They're overrated as saying something about the Civil War. But they're quite assuredly the product of a racist white culture, and that they've been with us until now says something about those who would have us honor traitors.

The Cancel Culture will no doubt be calling on General Sherman...

    William Tecumseh Sherman Monument

... just outside the White House of the country he saved by taking Atlanta on September 2, 1864.

Let's just say Sherman was no friend of Native Americans.

If you can't recognize the man who saved the Republic, who can you consider?

    I don’t disagree.
If elected officials want to remove these statues, I see no argument against it.

I was just put off by people who destroyed statues.

These boys betrayed their country. You can't go lower than that.

Not true. They fought for their state.

Let’s get this right, the civil war was fought between rich industrialist in the north, and the plantation aristocracy in the south. And like almost every war in history this was poor men fighting each other for the economic interests of rich men.
Who ever fought for the south was pardoned by Lincoln. It’s seems so ridiculous to be passing judgment on poor men who got duped into fighting a rich man’s war that ended 156 years ago.

Their brochure has black people taking their children to the state park with its "Stone Mountain Carving."

Black folks can celebrate the three traitors who kept their ancestors in chains.

They were conscripted, so I can't see putting a lot of blame on the troops. Stonewall, Bobby Lee, and Jeff Davis were leaders, however.

What about the flag burning left? Kneeling/turning backs to the flag during the anthem?

It's one thing to trash the flag and quite another to take up arms against your country.

None of that is lower than fighting a war against your own country

Lets look at it a bit differently. Just be honest in your answer to yourself. You don't have to answer publicly in the forum.

What would you have done under the same circumstances? The circumstances which you grew up in. Different parents. Different times. A time when the state was more important than the United States. Different norms.

What people tend to forget is that the norms were different at that time. You should never try to judge someone based on your norms at this time when they lived at a different time under different norms.

I have a suggestion. Next to the carvings a huge, towering statue of William Tecumseh Sherman. It'll have glowing red eyes, and every few minutes it'll breathe fire on those carvings.

It may be too expensive to sand blast them to eternity; they could always just remove the inscriptions I suppose and leave the rest.

I’d never lump stonewall or lee with Jefferson Davis. Davis was a politician that did embody the political element of the civil war which did include the perpetuation of slavery.

lee and stonewall however, whatever their personal views, also embodies incredible military achievements for which their families, respective home states and this entire country can and should be proud of. Likewise same to the men that fought under their commands. Anyone that knows their history ought to know just how brutal the civil war was, particularly as a confederate fighting a losing war under horrendous conditions.

But alas, the ignoramuses and self styled arbiters of morality and judgement on eras of the past have their own political agendas that include, if not prioritize, the specific appendage-sucking of their likewise ignorant black constituents, compliments of their ignorant and god awful education system.

So here we are, tearing down historical statues that in no way endorse or glorify slavery.

No, it removes them from a place of honor to a place where they can be used in the context of history and admired for the sculptures they are.

It should be up to the local community in which they're displayed. If my community voted to remove them, I would hope that they were auctioned off to a museum or a private collector, and if no one wanted them, they would be recycled.

But if the local community doesnt vote to remove them, they should stay up.
