Kabul has fallen, Taliban is killing political leadership and religious minorities in Afghanistan

Kabul has fallen. The Taliban has taken the control of Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan, after 9 hours of an armed battle between Afghan forces and the Taliban. This was confirmed by a source of The Eastern Herald in Kabul. Since then we are not able to communicate with our journalists in Taliban-ruled Afghanistan.

Reported by Indian newspaper. First report I've seen.

What was the end goal of going to war in Afghanistan? And it's 2021, so it didn't end in 2005.

Do you want USA there forever? Isn't Biden only finishing what the 2X impeached started? And most every supporter of the incumbent loser was all about not having the USA be the worlds police force. Which I agree with. You now against the incumbent loser policy, one he was elected on.

Those looking to tar others, do so, to cover up their own faults. Often for the very reason they want to tar.

I'm still in favor of withdrawal, but the whole point of withdrawal was a sustained peace in Afghanistan, as well as the safety of our people(being the most important.) It's clear that our forces are in danger and the Taliban renegaded on the Trump agreement. The fault lies not with Trump, technically not even with Biden. It lies with an enemy that acts on deception and neo-cons were right: There's no negotiating with this devil. We should have tactically retreated, allowing our forces to defend our interests and vulnerable people while retreating.

    .

The Soviet Union dissolved soon after its disastrous decade in Afghanistan.

Afghanistan is known as the graveyard of empires... the falling American empire has timed it just right.

Lol you mean when Obama said Iraq was stable and pulled out and then spent years calling ISIS the JV team, and then sent troops back in and Trump cleaned it up?

Or do you mean when Biden pulled out of Afghanistan, and just sent 5k troops back in only a month after saying Afghanistan would beat the Taliban?

Newsflash...when you say everything is fine, pull out troops, and then send troops back you are outing yourself as a loser. Kids in Japan, and Stevie Wonder can see it.

The dems are jokes, and terror flourishes under dems. Same with poverty and violence.

A whole lot of people are about to die, maybe even Americans and the msm and dems will ignore it.

Top dems are not exactly high info.

Making the Military-Industrial Complex richer than it was yesterday ... and the day before that .... and the day before that ... and the day before that, ie. spending your tax dollars and staying as long as possible. Did you think there was some righteous "good guy" goal & motive?

Stay away from MSM, my friend.

WHY do the Taliban fight so fiercely for what is so evidently wrong? WHY won't the Afghans fight to defend themselves? It's just like the ARVN, no matter how many billions we pump into them and all the training they receive they can never stand on their own 2 feet, why not? It's baffling.

If the money was already spent, they should have stayed.

Now it's just $2 trillion flushed down the drain... probably even more than that if adjusted for inflation in today's dollars.

To wipe out AQ who were sheltered there and then once stuck with the country to try to build it up so they would not get re-established.

Okay, maybe they can't stand on their own two feet, but Trump finally pulled out and then Biden abandoned them.

Is abandoning them right now, to be more accurate.

Afghanistan seemed to be stable when the US only had 5000 soldiers there and supplied air support.

The country's being completely abandoned right now. Biden, rather than do anything, is just evacuating people.

So you think radical muslims taking over will prevent other radical muslims from setting up a base there?

Both the Taliban and AQ are Sunni Islamic militants who want to institute a theocracy and impose sharia law.

They were allied before. Now the Taliban is just pretending to fight them to give the US one less reason to get involved while the Taliban is taking control of everything again. As soon as they regain control over the country like they did before the 2001 war, what do you think will happen?

You'd have to be senile not to see this. Oh wait...

    What's "wrong" about it?

Defend themselves against themselves? What planet do you live on?

Duh! You've learned nothing, have you. AGAIN: What is wrong with the Vietnamese ruling their own country? What is wrong with the Vietnamese democratically voting for their own government of their own choice? Duh!

What money "spent"? You don't get it do you.

What "drain"`? The pockets of the Military-Industrial Complex? The "drain", as you call it is the goal. You really are not paying attention.

    True enough.
Are we placing bets? I'll bet on Venezuela. What say you?
Yessiree! Let's just keep our ears open for the next MSM report, "Trouble in XXX today! Reliable intelligence reports say that XXX has introduced XXX in that country." Then the press report, "It has come to our attention that XXX is creating instability in the region ....."

Venezuela? Little too close to home....me, I'd bet on the Middle East, it's always been handy to drop a few billion on when the Complex gets a bit hungry.
