On Reddit, any negative stereotyping of women is strictly prohibited. Of course all Racism is prohibited. Generalizing people based on Disability (such as Borderline Personality or Autism) is prohibited. Subreddit r/mensrights is likely to be banned just for pointing out discrimination against men. Subreddit r/Misandry has been already banned. Negative and very insulting stereotyping of men is permitted and common. For example r/trollxchromosomes where most posts contain negative generalizations about men has not been warned in any way. Subreddit r/FemaleDating Strategy has a lot of Misandry, including celebration of men dying from Covid. It has not been warned. According to Reddit Administration, only Hate Speech attacking "vulnerable" groups is prohibited.
Reddit's political slants have been apparent for quite some time now. It's pretty much the land of liberal college children who think they got the world figured out. I stopped taking 99% of that place seriously a long time ago, it's pretty much an anti republican circle jerk these days anyway.
There's only a few good reasons to visit that site. gunfights, makemycoffin, combatfootage, asiansgonewild, etc. it's a lefty paradise full of bernie humpers.
So many boomers that have no idea what reddit is so they <insert> their own visions of what they think it may be. So sad...
Reddit is not billed as free speech. It is heavily moderated that is why it has such a main stream appeal. Most people want moderation and censorship. They don't want post full of profanity, racial slurs, and pornographic images. If you are looking for that just visit the imageboards. They are also not totally free speech but they are infinitely more so than reddit.
If you don't like it there are alternatives. Just go seek the level that is appropriate for you. Personally I love reddit. I visit it everyday. I subscribe to tons of sub reddits from my local city to world travel. I subscribe to the games I am playing and the shows I am watching. I subscribe to sports teams I follow and the Olympics when it was on. I subscribe to gardening, food, Star Trek, books, etc...
Reddit used to be a bastion of free speech. Then quite recently they began cracking down and getting totalitarian. It will probably cause people to leave in droves, even people who don't have any political affiliations, because they are sick of the annoying interference and crap. The entire interface of Reddit is outdated as well, which is one more factor that will ultimately contribute to people leaving.
Defending free speech that advocates for open discrimination is not the same as supporting open discrimination. There's a lot of things I absolutely hate, but I am not going to try to silence those people's opinions, and will still go to great lengths to defend those people's rights to express their opinions. If the right to free speech is threatened, that will ultimately end up affecting everyone. A precedent will have been set. Look up that quote from Martin Niemöller. Yes, a private organization (like Reddit) still has the right to limit free speech, but you can still fight (in other ways) for these organizations to allow free speech. Another issue is that it is inherently dishonest to host a public discussion giving people the impression that views are not being censored when in fact they actually are, and the readers do not realize it, or realize the extent to which it is happening.
Why not? People are much more free to say whatever they want there. You can swear, use the N word, post nude images, post conspiracy theories, INCELs can complain about the woman who do not love them and treat them unfairly...
Is it too much free speech for you? Perhaps it would be better if they censored them a bit. Remember 4chan is one of the mildest imageboards. That is why it survived this long. There is some moderation.
