Colin Powell, the first Black US secretary of state whose leadership in several Republican administrations helped shape American foreign policy in the last years of the 20th century and the early years of the 21st, has died from complications from Covid-19, his family said on Facebook. He was 84.

I know he was tarnished by working primarily with Republicans back when that party still existed, but I always had a positive impression of the man.

    RIP

No mention of vaccination status so he was probably vaccinated.

Truly a role model and example whose reputation and leadership is untarnished . Earning the Presidential Medal of Freedom twice, he served with dignity and honor.

Too bad he decided not to run for POTUS. I think he would definitely have been a president for all.

I recall him kicking back as much as a man in his position could against Iraq war. Which made him the perfect vehicle to sell it...RIP

"We have lost a remarkable and loving husband, father, grandfather and a great American," they said, noting he was fully vaccinated.

We are starting to see a bunch of fully vaccinated die of COVID. I wonder what the new narrative will be? Going from "The vaccine will prevent you from getting COVID" to "The vaccine will prevent hospitalizations" to "It will prevent severe illness" to what?? Maybe "It will prevent a less painful death"?

Granted, Powell probably truly died from being 84.

He never got over his resentment of Bush Sr. who did not support Powell's Presidential ambitions, he blamed this on racism, ignoring the fact that is was Bush Sr. that elevated him in the first place, and he thereafter sabotaged the GOP whenever he could. Maybe Bush Sr. simply did not believe he had what it took. I see Powell as similar to Benedict Arnold - he thought he DESERVED to be President, by choice of his own whim.

I do not wish bad upon him but I do not mourn his death either - not even slightly. He was a traitor to the 'tribe' he claimed to be a part of - this is unforgivable. Furthermore, I do not take at face value that he died from Covid - we've been lied to too many times by democrats.

The Great Father works in mysterious ways.

the vaccine trains your immune system to fight the virus, you can still lose that war if your immune system is compromised

no one has ever said the vaccine is 100%, especially if your immune system is compromised

It trains your system to fight a particular spike protein, hence why we are seeing so many breakthrough cases as the virus is continually modifying . Data is starting to show that the vaccine is not living up to the bill of goods sold.

Meanwhile in Uttar Predesh in India, has nearly eliminated the virus while only 15% of their population is fully vaccinated. With a population over 223 million residents at that.

Nearly 50% of Uttar Pradesh Covid-free now: Govt

I had a lot of respect for the man, political position wasn't a factor. he seemed to be outside of the mud slinging garbage dumping that went on in DC.

    A sad loss.

not true, that is just conspiracy theory nonsense, there has been no evidence that the spike protein has mutated in any of the variants to this point, and lets hops it stays that way

I see Gen Powell has passed at age 84 from complications of covid although he was fully vaccinated. My condolences to his family. In my opinion he was a nice guy, a model soldier, and a good family man. But I have to say in my opinion he could not have been very smart -- he voted for Obama, voted for Hillary, and voted for Biden. RIP Gen Powell.

He voted for Obama for the sole reason that Obama was half Black - he never got over his resentment of Bush Sr. not supporting his own Presidential ambitions (I detest Bush the Elder, Bush the Younger, and Bush the flop).

1 bad deed undoes 100-good deeds. 4-bad deeds (Bush resentment, Obama, Hillary and Biden) erases an entire career.

Following the CNN science again, are you? Actual science is now considered a "conspiracy theory"?

Mutations in SARS-CoV-2 Spike could lead to greater infectivity, study shows

As SARS-CoV-2 has spread and evolved, mutations impacting the structure of the viral S protein have affected how it binds to and infects cells, which has had huge implications for the spread of disease as new variants dominate in part due to changes in the fitness of the virus.

And a more recent study for your viewing pleasure.

that is saying nothing about the portion of the spike the vaccines targets

the vaccine trains the immune system for a primary fast response and then a secondary response a couple of days later

but let's say what you say eventually happens, the vaccine is still effective, we would just need a new vaccine at that point
