What? You must have replied to the wrong poster. I didn't say anything about a PAC. I was commenting on Trump's disgraceful comments about Colin Powell.

Trump never made disgraceful comments about Colin Powell. Truth is not wrong.

Is the damage done to the organs able to heal?
I admit to paying attention to the low fatality rate. I am vaccinated but when professionals say to still wear a mask, that I might catch CV19, it naturally occurs to me why do that if vaccinated.

Each time I see the doctors, I have to wear a mask. I feel like the vaccination is not helping a lot.

While I understand your confusion, your doctors are not wrong.
Vaccination helps but is not 100% protective. We never pretended that it was. The Delta variant, more infectious and able to re-infect, resulted in a drop of vaccine protection. Still good but not great.

There is nothing that can ever justify slavery. The South got what it deserved for going to war to perpetuate their claimed right to own humans like they were livestock.

Is the USA doomed to constantly wearing masks in public? Also the damage to organs. Can our organs be healed?

I agree. The South was invaded. Would you defend yourself if your state was invaded?

I used to use the same terms you use that the slaves were more treated like livestock. But who the hell beats up on livestock?

American kids learned to hate the South. Even as adults I see it all the time.

I hope for our military's sake they are no longer treated like slaves.
Seriously, send a man to combat that he did not start and is expected to die for the cause?

I tend to not venture much from the house. When at the store, around here I seldom see any wearing masks. Customers or clerks.

When the heart doctor saw me this week, I do not recall him wearing a mask. But perhaps he was. I recall all of his facial features. Also he had with him a student that I do not recall him wearing one either. I kept my annoying mask on of course.

America has a volunteer military. No one EVER volunteered to be the House N-word.

It is the treatment they get in the military I speak of. When I was drafted, we also then had volunteers. They served 1 year longer on active than I did.
I spent a year as a Company Clerk where I saw up close how our troops got treated. And punished a fair amount too.

I wish the entire story got told on the slaves in away that treats history correctly. Such as how many Americans realize we had 12 presidents, about 25 percent of them that owned slaves?

No, I don't think we're doomed to this, forever. More solutions are coming up. We now have one antiviral by the mouth that already had an application for EUA filed for it, and two more in the pipeline. Also, I'm confident that we'll develop second-generation vaccines, more broad-spectrum that will catch more variants. Eventually we'll have this thing conquered.

The damage to organs varies from transient to permanent. You know, some people with lung fibrosis will have shortness of breath for life. Some people with myocarditis will have a weakened heart for life and some may even progress to heart failure, while others will heal. Some people with new onset diabetes, well, diabetes doesn't heal. Once you have it, you have it. Some people with "brain fog" may recover. Some people with chronic fatigue may recover. So, it's variable; it depends on the degree of damage.

Well, then we disagree on the content. I do find the comments disgraceful, you do not. Fair enough.

Sounds like a COVID death to me... Your post needs to be directed at the anti-everything crowd...

I was just making the point that CALLING it a COVID death was not CNN's call.... Powell's family (and his doctors) made that call...

Well, that's a huge failure if your doctor and the student weren't wearing a mask.

Because see, what is happening is that Delta can infect vaccinated people. For the first couple of days, viral load for vaccinated or unvaccinated people are similar. Then it drops rapidly among the vaccinated so they are contagious for a shorter period than the unvaccinated, but during that short period they are contagious. So doctors see dozens of patients per day. Many are immuno-compromised, by virtue of illnesses that bring down the immune system, drugs they may take that do the same, or simply old age with multiple co-morbid conditions. So even a young and healthy medical student, vaccinated, might briefly catch a breakthrough case and be infectious for a couple of days, and contaminate a vulnerable patient. That is NOT good practice.

The same rationale applies for your need to wear a mask during the visit. You're protecting the doctor and his/her other patients, because who knows if you'd be a vaccinated carrier of the virus, in that period of two days of infectiousness? You are even protecting yourself too, if the mask you are wearing is an advanced kind (N95, or FPP2, or N100) with a good seal, and if you know how to wear it properly.

Then we had 12-President that sucked. Everyone that ever lived knows, inherently, that slavery is disgusting - they just did it, or defend it, anyway. The proof is this: let some Africans come and kidnap you and put you to work in their Big House as the House-Cracker and let me know how you like it.

Humans do horrible things to each other - they should face up to it.

Who promoted Powell to a god like status? I recognize things he did but do not credit him for things he did not do.

Trump never was happy with the Iraq war. Powell was very happy at the time of the war. Franks asked him for his opinion and Powell told General Franks he was fine going to war with Iraq.

It hit you as new that the presidents owned slaves yet are lauded as great men. I do not think at that time we now can hurl invectives since at the time it was totally legal. And of course it was bad.

I was unhappy with the treatment we got by our own Army when I served. So life is hard.

I agree that Powell screwed up in reference to the Iraq war. He is human, not God, not infallible. However, with the exception of that screw-up, I always liked him, much before his passing, so I'm not joining a bandwagon of praise just because he died. I remember once looking up his positions on a number of political topics, and I was impressed to see that I agreed with him in most of the topics; I thought, hey, "a politician that maybe matches the most my centrist positions; I could vote for this guy." Which is one of the reasons why Trump calls him a RINO. It's because Trump is a radical, and anything that is slightly left of him, he calls RINO. Me, I like the people who have a more moderate view on things.

I dislike leftist radicals like Bernie Sanders and AOC, but I also dislike rightist radicals like Trump (although if we look at Trump's lifelong positions, they weren't radical rightist; I think he postures a lot and has adopted the radical views that he figures excite his followers). Given that I think Trump is a narcissist who is not a solid ideologue, I think if his followers were rabid leftists, he'd be touting leftist positions. By the way I think that Kamala Harris is just like that, too.
