I am a Phillies fan. Please take Girardi back

I wish that you had not won a series since 2000, you beat the Phillies in 2009....

Guess I forgot about that World Series win for the Yanks. Sorry. Guess I know what it feels like to be Phillies (or Eagles) fan...Ya know, the love/hate relationship the fans have with the teams.

I guess this settles that then. Thanks for explaining how baseball works.

Any advice for fans who like to post smack the afternoon before the opposing team kicks their team's ass in the top of the ninth that same evening, then goes on to do it again at the prestigious Fenway ballpark the very next day: and then takes that fan's advice and heads home to do it one more time in game 6? Seems to me the Stros liked it quite well there. I guess it was difficult for the Fenway crowd to shout obscenities while holding their breath. The Stros liked playing with those Boston boys so well they invited them to join them on their return to Houston. I'd suggest maybe reveling in prior victories. Benintendi's catch was absolutely amazing, somehow I suspect there's a reason that pro-level players view team loyalty quite differently than the team's fans do. Skip to about the 13:15 minute mark to see it.

Good luck to the Dodgers and the Braves this evening. I'm still trying to figure out how the Giants and the Dodgers had to go through each other in this post-season. Maybe you can explain that to me.

Currently, the baseball playoff structure is a travesty, IMO.

Baseball playoff teams should be paired off according to records...The 5 teams within each league with the best winning percentages during 162 games need to be in the playoffs. This does justice to the 162-game schedule. How does one weigh wins W/I seemingly loaded divisions like the American League East and National League West, for examples? For example, should wins against 'good' teams during the course of the 162-game season be counted for more than 1 win?

My proposed American league playoff teams:
    (1) Tampa Bay 100-62
    (2) Houston Astros 95-67
    (3) Chicago White Sox 93-69
    (4) *TIE* Boston Red Sox 92-70
    (5) *TIE* New York Yankees 92-70

The American League playoff went according to my proposed plan.
Yankees and Red Sox in wildcard (since records were identical, the winner of the season's series between the two decides home field advantage).
The wildcard winner plays Tampa Bay with Tampa Bay having home field advantage.
Houston and Chicago play with Houston having the home field advantage.

My proposed National League playoff teams:
    (1) San Francisco 107-55
    (2) Los Angeles Dodgers 106-56
    (3) Milwaukee Brewers 95-67
    (4) St. Louis Cardinals 90-72
    (5) Atlanta Braves 88-73

The National League playoff didn't go according to my proposed plan.
Braves and Cardinals would play in the wildcard with the Cardinals having home field advantage.
The winner of the wildcard would play the Giants.
The Dodgers would play the Brewers with the Dodgers having home field advantage.

Of course in any type of playoffs in any sport, a hot team has a more than average chance of winning it all (like the Braves)...This fact sorely detracts from the efforts of the 162-game schedule.

The Braves are smokin' hot. No doubt about it. And although the Stros were able to cool down Boston, they have a whole new challenge ahead of them going up against Atlanta. Additionally, the "Home" advantage simply isn't reflected by the schedule imo. Braves get three in a row on their turf on the weekend. Home field advantage to me ought to mean that the Stros get the weekend block of three games, or at least the chance to choose it if they prefer it. I suppose the fans would prefer it. I'll be slammed again at work next week so I will likely have to skip watching games 1 and 2 all the way to the end like I watched 4 and 5 of the ALCS this past week. I nearly fell asleep at the damn wheel on the commute home Thursday night.

The NL seeding was complete s. Completely incomprehensible. Your answer to my question is excellent, spot-on and I agree completely. And also for a sport so dominated by analytics that it hires engineers and such to calculate field shifts one might think they could employ those same skills to normalize wins against weak opponents. So I find there is more than sufficient merit in your suggestion that they do so.

Although I'd like to see Dusty Baker win a World Series, I just can't root for the cheating Astros. Besides, supporting the National League (the one without the awful DH) is my default position. Therefore I'll be pulling for the Braves.

It's a first. Braves meet the Astros in the World Series. Both teams were in the National League years ago.

Series headed back to ATL for the next 3. Tied 1-1.

    The big question:
How does ATL plans to navigate the absence of Charlie Morton.

Charlie Morton is a MLB hit man. Pure Professional. What team was it that he won the world series with in 2017? Tampa might have won against Boston if they'd kept him.

Seems to me though that he defied pain, not that he defied pain tolerance....

Friday night's game was just nasty. Nasty cold, wet and damp. Miserable weather.

    ***
Rosario - whatta catch! And Hotlanta racks up back to back homers to take the win. And ATT dropped my Uverse signal for the entire top of the ninth. I reckon I didn't miss anything.

    ***
Will the Stros make this list?

I hope to be able to say the Astros cannot win a WS in which they do not cheat.

Astros down 4-0 after 1st inning.

Keep plugging and get the Series back to Houston.
Headed to a Game 6 in Houston.

    Congratulations to the Atlanta Braves.
It's now official: the Houston Astros cannot win a World Series without cheating.

Congrats to the Braves. Shut us out twice in this series. Dicey sport though, not quite sure I understand how much of a team any of these organizations really amount to. Miles Straw in the stands in Atlanta wearing a Brantley numbered jersey. Charlie Morton pitching against the team he won the WS with in 17. Greinke making over 24:1 earnings versus the pitching offense guys that got us through the ALCS. Makes it difficult to justify giving much of a s about any particular team.

Hell, for all I know the Stros threw the series just to place bets to get some of the lower paid guys paid. Valdez, Garcia and Alvarez - Altuve may have had their backs in a completely different way than MLB would prefer.....
