I understand that the election of a Republican in Virginia will be met with an explosion of joy by the right - especially after the three defeats in November 2020 - but is it really good news for the Presidentials?

Because Youngkin just proved that staying away from Trump pays off politically.

That's an ignorant and hateful thing to say. Save your accusations and purify yourself oh holy one. Our innocent children aren't your guilt ridden path to glory.

    Real original, too.

I wonder how irrelevance is treating Mary Landrieu these days...

    Good analysis.

Not long ago Virginians were known for being more pragmatic and less ideological, and the outcome of this election has been a refreshing sign that those days aren't gone. It should come as a surprise to no one outside the LW echo chamber that "progressive" overreach was a major factor in the opposition's success.

We cannot say that half of Virginia voters voted for that clown - because half of that clown's votes are definitely fake.

Joy Reed on MSNBC said as much already. The Madcow agreed, suggesting folks were too stupid to be trusted with elections anymore...

And it just keeps coming. Happens every time Democrats lose.

LINK: Virginia votes as poll expert says ‘white backlash’ could power Republican win (msn.com)

Of course what Sabato, and others, are failing to tell you is that while CRT is exactly what they say, it is also the impetus that drives what is being taught at schools. They are using it as a basis of how and what to teach our children. As such it has become an extension of CRT and one can rightfully call it CRT. Proponents of CRT are trying to separate the two. As if one has nothing to do with the other. But to call it "white lash" implies, and essentially states, that it is only white people that are against this CRT nonsense. That is false. Tons of black parents have come out against this also. And they've done it because they are parents. They have seen what their children bring home after school. They have heard what their children say after school. And they do not like it. Frankly, I'm surprised I haven't heard them referred to by slurs yet....Well...maybe I'm not surprised on that. After all, that would destroy their "whitelash" argument. So they are ignoring the fact that black parents are speaking out against it also.

Mark my words before 2024 we'll see one of these high profile Dems float some kind of initiative that basically says White people shouldn't vote or shouldn't have their votes counted the same or, ya know, something along the lines at diminishing White participation.

Clearly you have no idea what the word 'prove' means neither of your claims are 'proof' of anything at all.

What's not a good sign is that so many leftists can't see that preaching hate isn't working. Screaming that everything is racist that doesn't go their way isn't working.

And so it appears, blaming Trump for everything is not a winning strategy? Who would have thought!

I expect it as well. Democrats are prone to taking to the streets to burn things down and other childish antics...

So they were only racist when it came to voting for the governor but not the Lt Gov and AG right?

Is that how it works in your world?

If they even think about reversing this, I’ll hit the streets myself, and that’s something I’ve never done before.

I know that preaching hate doesn't work to win elections.

    We saw that last November.

Both McAuliffe and Murphy are not conceding until all votes are counted.

Youngkin stayed away from Trump throughout the campaign.

    That's a fact.

Trump wasn't invited by Youngkin to do a rally or publicly endorse him.

So staying away from Trump pays off politically for a Republican candidate.

Biden has already set the land speed record to lame duck status (7 months) and there's no doubt in not just my mind but a lot of analysts' minds that this bodes ominously for Democrats in 2022. This race shouldn't have even been close, and not only did Youngkin make it competitive, he won.

Looking at the broader picture, the American electorate is an exceptionally surly mood. In 2020 they took it out on Republicans and now they're taking it out on Democrats. The 2022 elections could very well be a bloodbath for Democrats - I'm seeing lot of similarities between the current political conditions and the ones that preceded the 2010 midterms.

In the short term, the GOP's success in Virginia makes me wonder if the few Democratic moderates in Washington are going to be less willing to stick their necks out for the "progressives" and "progressive" policies that just got rejected in our fair Commonwealth. This remains to be seen, but what happened in Virginia may signal the death knell of the big "progressive" agenda that is already floundering on Capitol Hill.
