Yep it surely does. 90% of Covid deaths are in countries with over 50% of the population overweight or obese. The US is over 70% overweight or obese. 40% of US citizens put on an average of 29lbs. already during the pandemic.

Sodas are one of the main causes of obesity in the US. Overweight/obesity increases your chances of SARS-CoV-2 infection. It increases your odds of hospitalizations and bad outcomes if infected. Obese infected individuals shed SARS-CoV-2 virons longer than normal weight infected individuals. Obesity decreases the efficacy of vaccination.

We’ve had Covid around for almost two years and you don’t know this? No wonder we’ve had Covid around for almost two years. Nobody has any idea of how to protect themselves. Go here for help. Diet and what you drink have a PROFOUND effect on infection risk and transmission risk.

    From your post #5
how much Covid transmission would be prevented if we limited snap benefits to healthy foods!

Soda and candy have nothing to do with the transmission. :)

Yes they do. They cause obesity that leads to more transmission. Soda leads to dehydration that causes increased infection rates. More infections means more transmission. Anything that increases chance of infections by definition increases transmission. LOL

You really need to do some research on Covid.

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) issues electronic benefits that can be used like cash to purchase food. SNAP helps low-income working people, senior citizens, the disabled and others feed their families. Eligibility and benefit levels are based on household size, income and other factors.

Sounds like what good, decent citizens do for the less fortunate..and for BORN children.

But, hey, it's so much easier to rag on those perceived to be lesser than it is to LOOK UP at the immensely wealthy who rip off the government through non-payment of taxes.

Yes, some, poor people cheat to survive.....the wealthy cheat to cheat some more....but they know that cowards will not challenge THEM !

Wrong, obesity makes a person more susceptible to getting covid, not transmitting it. FYI, if all obese were to properly mask up would be a better way to prevent transmission.

Is school lunch paid for by the government or the people?

You're trying to blur the lines.

I would have to read the law but for me the major problem is that passing such a law in the first place was unconstitutional according to the 10th amendment.

I think it’s a terrible shame you are so uninformed on Covid.

    Obesity increases viral load.

    https://www.cidrap.umn.edu/news-per...er-viral-loads-immune-response-linked-obesity
Not only does obesity lead to more virus for an obese person to shed, obesity exacerbates mechanisms of transmission. One is the increased production of aerosols by the obese.

Another mechanism of transmission more prevalent in obese is coughing.
    https://www.researchgate.net/publication/331334783_Chronic_cough_and_obesity
The science seems to conflict with your unsubstantiated opinions.

Masking the obese is like putting a bandaid on an arterial bleed.

Covid has dealt a crushing blow to the "healthy at any size" crusaders.

Might as well call covid "the fattie flu" for the way it's targeting the obese.

In my city school lunches are all paid for by the government unless someone brown bags it. The city opted into the the free lunch for all program. My only problem with the Michelle Obama initiative is that it didn't mesh well with conditions on the ground. Schools systems have streamlined their cafeterias to churn out food as fast as they can and move the students through as quickly as possible. They are understaffed as far as preparing things from scratch so the requirements regarding salt, sugar and the like are hard to meet using mass produced food products. I wish they had funded money to expand kitchens and add more workers to have more made from scratch offerings.

You don’t know that soda and candy contribute to obesity? Interesting.

You need to. I’m administering the quiz. I know the answer. Thanks for confirming you know nothing of epidemiology. :)

Your doctor is probably nearly as uninformed as you are. If you want real knowledge public health officials and doctors are not reliable sources.

Schools feeding kids is fine, what a weird item for the right to be upset over

"If you can't put together a healthy lunch for your kids every day, you probably should have bought a goldfish."

    or got an abortion?

That's because you're a typical leftist who sees the government as your cradle-to-grave nursemaid and your schools as soup kitchens.

No amount of government program entitlement and charity will ever upset you.

The government could hand out so much free food that Americans would be eating themselves to death like overfed goldfish(and that's exactly what's happening) and you'd still say it wasn't enough.
