I am pissed off that they haven’t created a red headed Irish Muppet who drinks like a fish and likes to start fights...

I really can’t recall Sesame Street ever making a big deal out of the race of anyone back when I watched it. I watched Reading Rainbow and the host was a black guy and that was about it. It wasn’t a big deal he was black. He was just the host. There was no explanation as to why Bugs Bunny cross dressed all the time. It was just funny. Same with Tom or Jerry putting on a dress for laughs.

Now everything is a “thing”. There’s always a message or preaching. It’s total propaganda trying to change the way children perceive the world and think. Dastardly.

Caucasian is a race which is referred to as white.

But we'll use Caucasian as Asian is being used for the new character whose race is being celebrated with her introduction. What about Caucasian characters are they also celebrated for their race? Are there any Caucasian characters identified as such.

"Like hi Big Bird I'd like you to meet my nice new friend and he's Caucasian-American."

Race isn't a heritage, no one cares.

Nope, Asian-American is related to ethnicity, not race, or the level of melanin in one's skin.

    Hopefully not.

Making such a production about a puppet is just silly.........and it seems that some have too much time on their hands.PBS is one of the best outlets and makes an effort to be race -fair. to be objective and factual. As well as realistic and informative.

If folks can't handle a multi racial puppet show............how can they handle the reality of multi race nation???

    Much ado about nothing.......

Maybe at the 6th grade reading level (which is sadly the bare minimum many people never learn to read beyond if they stop at what's spoon-fed to them by mass-market education models and resources), but not likely much more than that.

No honestly, the "Asian" thing is just a flash in the pan. There are better arguments for defunding PBS.

Bert and Ernie. The 2 guys who live together.
I don't know any characters who are celebrated, so I don't know what you mean with that comment.

Those slants eyed Asians have a bigger problem with blacks than they’ll ever have with me.

I'm not sure why some people have the idea that all stereotypes are "negative" to begin with.

Right, so "everyone" is just an arbitrary term applied to some degree of "broadness" in inclusion, but of course not literally "everyone" (since Korean Americans are not identical to Japanese, Chinese, Vietnamese, and so on).

The character is American. Of an Asian decent. It's not gone into the specific country. As all those you mention are Asians.

I'm just showing that the narrative about it being a "show for everyone" is arbitrary and not literal to begin with.

It's a show for everyone that wants to watch sesame street. Mostly pre school kids.

That’s because they’re still working on a nappy haired spear chucking fatherless black guy who can pronounce ask.

Now one of our comments will generate a chuckle from the left, the other will generate cries of racism. Can you guess which on will be racist?

Is that a yes it a no?
So it's OK to stereotype Caucasians and do so negatively as in there is nothing to celebrate about Caucasians? Should that also be taught about Negros (since you objected to my use of colors/melanin levels I'm using the race names)?

They are white guys and referred to as White-Americans or Causasian-Americans? I don't find anything that says they are white or Caucasian in fact cite showing the history says Bert is yellow.

Are you saying there is no such thing as race? If so can we get rid of the provisions in our laws concerning race then?

    Of course.

African American is not "negro", how hard is this to understand?
