Well I mean, people are going to stack it anywhere they have a space, right? Not all homes are big enough to have a separate space just for firewood. That would be quite rare in Europe (where this fireplace is made), actually. I'm not in Europe, have had wood fires all my life, and have yet to have anything like a woodshed or dedicated firewood structure. We stack it anywhere we can find space. Usually that's along house walls - under eaves. We keep a smaller stack indoors, big enough to provide a few days of dry wood.

Agree on the cleanliness of that wood though .. that's whacky! Ours does not look that pretty :D

    Yes. Why do you ask?

    My point stands.

    Yes. You?

I am not a leftists. You? Commie?

As for AOC, only 4 dems supported her version. There are more realistic proposals which include natural gas.

I got my solar for the simple reason that the taxpayers paid for it. There was no means testing. Is this a great country or what?

Doing the same. I have 11 acres of woods and have started cutting fallen trees. Many of these trees are down from the power company maintaining their right-of-way. Here in West VA. power lines often go through the woods.

Had the chimney sweep out a week ago. Now spitting, and stacking wood in preparation for the first Biden winter. As an old person this is hard, unpleasant, and boring work and I may buy a couple chords of wood. Up to now, the wood stove has been for emergency use. Under Biden there is a good chance it may be the only source of heat. I think the big city libs are in for a wake up call.

    THIS.

Officials in Honolulu have granted the developers of a luxury, oceanfront estate tied to Barack Obama a major exemption from environmental laws designed to protect Hawaii’s beaches.

if only they know they could have just charged the taxpayers to rent rooms and golf carts at their resorts, they could have made millions like Trump did and is still doing

No, there is indeed a correlation.

Because this is the third time in a row that a Democrat has taken over the reins of the country after a Republican left him a recession.

So there is strong economic growth.

And you can't have economic growth without inflation.

    Oh really ?

Bush 41 only had one term because the economy was bad.

Clinton came in and left Bush 43 with a healthy nation and a government that was making a profit.

Bush 43 left in disgrace in the midst of a horrendous economic crisis.... and two wars.

Obama took over a country in tatters and when Trump was elected, unemployment was at 4%...

    We know what happened next.

The pattern has been the same since 1991: a Republican destroys the public finances and plunges the country into recession.

Then, the voters call for a Democrat to pick up the sh**.

You actually think that the POTUS is solely responsible for all this? You don't think that Congress bears any responsibility at all?

Biden deliberately attacked energy production as soon has he had the powers of the office and the progs cheered.

We've only ever used wood fired heat in our houses, using salvaged deadfall and lumbar (ie, free). Yes it's a lot of work, but running heat via solar panels isn't an option, and gas is way too expensive for our cheap a$$es.

Meantime, yes. The urbanites are going to be in big trouble when gas and electricity become unaffordable for all but the wealthy - and that year isn't nearly as far off as they probably imagine it is. If you're smart, you already have heating, cooking, and water independent of the grids - if you can add power via wind or solar, even better.

We're way past 'kooky hippies & preppers only', at this point. It's curious to me to see how many seem unconcerned about it, actually. Will be very interesting to watch, when these folk realise where their apathy has left them. You'd think the pandemic would have been enough to convince them that things can and do change drastically, and that nothing about our standard of living is guaranteed.

I put one of these on my well for emergency use and highly recommend it for those who have wells. Of course IMHO the best thing IMHO one can do to prepare for hard times is be in a rural or somewhat rural area and get to know one's neighbors.

Rain water tanks - preferably in-ground and lockable - are the best bet. Always potable, and don't freeze. Not sure how I'd feel about a well - I might want a private pond or lake in which I can control water quality - and then treat it on-site. We can do that here in Australia, because we don't have water dwelling mammals like beaver in our still waters.

I agree that land is ideal, but it's possible to live entirely off grid on less than 2000 square feet. As long as you have an unimpeded rooftop for rainwater collection and solar panels, you can run the entire thing independently - even your sewerage - AND produce enough vegetables and protein (small scale fish farming and chickens for eggs) to live on. This presupposes a 12 month growing season, and every square inch given to producing - but it can be done.

Look, I gotta disagree with you on this one. With Biden in the White House, natural gas production has skyrocketed.

Not nationwide - just in the White House.

I don't use propane, so no problems here :)

Blah blah blah, **** the "common folk" and all that. This is just the same debunked nonsense you've repeated ad infinitium while seemingly being too ignorant to understand why it's nonsense.

Also if you want to be taken seriously, drop the quotes from the greedy, Hellbound, atheistic / Satanist, Jewess from your signature. Dreck like that should have died on a cross in the same way their ilk killed Christ, not be immortalized in some effeminate dweebish signature.

I’ll be getting a wood burner installed in my house as soon as possible. My house runs on propane. You all couldn’t imagine what that’s like at good prices. This will likely force me to start burning wood.
