Jan. 6 Committee Subpoenas Far-Right Groups

The House January 6 Committee sent subpoenas on Tuesday to a series of far-right groups and their leaders whose members were involved in either the Capitol insurrection or the rallies beforehand.

The Proud Boys, its leader Enrique Tarrio, and the Oath Keepers and its leader Stewart Rhodes all received House subpoenas.

The panel also issued a subpoena to First Amendment Praetorian and its founder, Robert Patrick Lewis. First Amendment Praetorian provided security for a rally on Jan. 5 at Freedom Plaza, according to a permit for the event and its organizer, Cindy Chafian.

The subpoenas come one day after the panel signaled that its investigation into the rally on the White House ellipse on Jan. 6 had expanded, with demands for documents and interviews going to far-right provocateurs Alex Jones and Roger Stone, but also to people involved in organizing the rally behind the scenes.

My guess is the committee is gathering all the info it can before issuing a subpoena to the Orange Insurrectionist. Naturally they are meeting with obstruction by Trumpists who hope to delay the investigation as along as possible. I just don't think they can say they have thoroughly investigated the coup until they get sworn testimony from Don.

 

The Jan 6th investigation will end up going the same place that the investigation into Benghazi and Hillary's emails went. Nowhere....

 

If nothing else it will identify chain of command issues to prevent a repeat. Ordinarily I'd say the outcome will disqualify Trump from ever seeking office in the eyes of voters but.....................The Following...........so............

 

I highly doubt it. I'm not a Trump guy, but I don't think anyone could objectively argue that a nationally televised slap fight between Trump and a bunch of Democratic congressmen is going to favor Trump.

I mean his popularity is as low as it's gonna get, and now he's totally unrestrained by propriety. It'd be a verbal slaughter.

Lee, I understand what you're saying but I have to respectfully disagree. He is very litigious and he's slimy and slippery. Until now, he has never really understood that he's not special and is not above rules, regulations and laws. That's why he's soiling his nappy in public constantly. He has fired countless people (his whole business life and as POTUS) and just can't conceptualize himself being fired.

Sadly, there are enough people that still think he's some kind of deity so he will have all kinds of people running block. With that said, if his past interrogatories and testimony is any indication, he will sit like a petulant child and claim he does not remember for just about every question. He'll eventually get fined and be forced to pay and his cultists and groupies will say that is not evidence of his culpability in anything. He just settles all those cases to stop the witch hunt against his immortal soul and Earthly body.

As an aside, Powell, Giuliani and Lindell have been thrown to the wolves. Powell and Lindell self-financed their Brown Nosing moments and Giuliani gets the silent treatment and stonewalled when he tries to get paid for his services. I'm still trying to figure out how crazy all of them must be. I know I would be taking a hard look at myself if I couldn't get paid for my work while the same game paid a hooker a lot of money. That's gotta burn.

I think the first question is a good one, but misdirected. The speaker of the House has no control over the National Guard, that comes under the office of the President. Why didn't Benedict Donald provide National Guard support to the Capitol Police? I'm sure that is something the Select Committee will be interested in.

 

This is reminiscent of when McCarthy subpoenaed Communist Party members.

Please tell us what exactly they are investigating? What exactly is it that warrants them being subpoenaed to give testimony?

Are they angry that they are ready to use violence against other people who attack them first because they hate their beliefs? Is that seen as wrong, bad, illegal...

 

Why so? Is there any legitimate reason to believe they did something wrong? People organize a political rally and they blame the organizers when it got violent?

Even in January, that was a given, as many as 10,000 National Guard troops were told to be on the ready by the Secretary of Defense. That was a direct order from President Trump and yet here is what we see, all kinds of blame going around but yet not a whole lot of accountability. That accountability needs to rest with where it ultimately should be and that’s on Capitol Hill.
