Syria is a Secular Muslim Nation --- did you not know this or did you think Syria was not a Muslim Nation ? Iraq under Hussain was also Secular.

We could never have forced Japan to surrender without the bomb. Conventional bombing has never won a war and never will. The traditional rule is that "unoccupied enemy territory is still enemy territory". You have to have your own Soldiers standing in enemy territory to ensure the war is over. Nuclear weapons changed that. The devastation is like nothing else in human history. Conventional bombing results in rebuilding. Nukes result i slow, painful death from radiation.

I said that, "not very secular?" I said I don't believe they are secular. If they are a Muslim nation all their laws will be strongly influenced by Islam. Their level of tolerance will be much different than our own.
