You can get pre-paid credit cards at any Wal-Mart that have no identifying information whatsoever...

If the FBI can ferret out international terrorists and spies I don’t think your dinky little pre- paid card is going to fool them for long

Privacy isn’t in the first amendment is in the fourth. The Fourth Amendment explicitly affirms the “right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures.” The fifth amendment also in its Self-Incrimination Clause enables the citizen to create a zone of privacy which government may not force him to surrender.

You obviously don’t care for rights enough to defend them. You’re actually arguing against them. So we will never find common ground on this topic Aussie

This you are absolutely correct on. VPN is a good tool so long as they don’t have the key to complete the equation. And don’t be fooled they don’t. I also believe that the government likely has access to quantum computers that they won’t disclose. If they have those, VPN’s matter as much as a squashed bug on the bottom of your shoe.

But does this right extend to speech?

Bit of a pity then that we don’t have a fourth amendment. BTW may I point out that this is a suggestion from the PM not an enacted law

It extends to your phone and your computer (where most people have access to the internet) so yea it does in this particular case.

likewise our government can’t force us to use a particular name in any use of public internet use because of the privacy the constitution grants.

Then isn’t it a pity that Australia has a whole different system of laws so your fourth amendment DOES NOT APPLY

And as far as I am aware the Patriot Act sort of blew your fourth amendment out of the water

The patriot act blew some of it up yes. Just another example that the constitution truly does not hold the power of law. The patriot act is a whole other topic.

But she thought she was posting anonymously? Somebody gave her that impression. Seems actionable to me.

That will give the government the excuse to simply have the entire site shut down.

Yeah, publishing truthful facts about snowflake governments, companies & individuals will have you end up like Julian Assange. Hunted down and persecuted. That's why Edward Snowden fled to Russia after he whistled 'Dixie'. They didn't like that tune.

Democracy is the vector that will bring the very watered-down versions of communism into our realities. The US is the current stronghold and embodiment of Democracy. That's why everything going on over there by the Demoncrats is to destroy the US from the inside out like cancer. Countries such as the US and Australia have also had their constitutions watered down. We only live in a perceived democracy, in reality, it has too many features of communism and only gets worse. Doesn't take much to figure out who's kicking that can down the street? They're in disputed seas and have made many friends in the South Pacific and they've got their cross hairs on Australia & the US.

So, tell me again how banning abortion improves individual rights? How does tossing away the right to privacy fit with the idea of democracy? You currently have states dictating by law what is and is not allowed to be mentioned in a classroom and changes in electoral systems that will discriminate against voters of colour

From where I stand WE have a more democratic system than you - especially considering the government hires a jet to fly election workers to rural and remote communities to ensure they have access to voting

Wrong forum. Look at the thread title.
Freedom of Speech, or lack thereof nowadays.
The people of colour, you refer to, the Aboriginals, I presume, have always been a political power play tool. When not in use, they are considered a lower class of humans. Just as the Native American Indians or any other native of their ancestral lands. It's all political BS that dictates what, when, who, why, where & how happens/doesn't happen. Used only as pawns.
Aren't you privileged and those in remote communities?

    Anything else?

Is what you're quoting me on relevant to my statement? Abortion, not mentioned or classrooms. What I was referring to was China's influence in the region and politics. Both in the US, and Australia. Just in case you missed the point.

Our governments are being so thoughtful. By lubing us up before China sodomises us just get given the keys to our cities.
