    There will be many variants. We can't keep locking down and fear mongering for everyone one. Almost two years into two weeks to slow the spread.

    I guess it's bad manners and taste to name a deadly virus over the Chinese President Xi. Not to mention that China was blamed for it in the first place. :lol:

    Flights that are being canceled are due to the labor shortage. It's nothing to do with COVID.

    As to your point 2, you certainly aren't going to suggest that other countries shouldn't have their own autonomy to run their affairs as they see fit, right? Maybe, mind your own business and quit worrying what others are doing with their lives. It will lead you to live a more peaceful existence.

    By "keep locking down," what do you mean? As far as I know, we locked down exactly one time. Things in my life have been normal for well over a year.

    Are some of you hiding in your basement, assuming the whole world has come to a standstill?

    We just enjoyed a two-week journey around the west coast. From where we sat, everything is about as normal as can be. Disneyland & Vegas were an absolute madhouse. No lockdowns there. I'm not sure where some of you live, but go outside and enjoy!!! Life is happening!

    Flights to and from some African countries are cancelled. Where have you been in the last couple of days. And yes it does effect me living in the UK. We have had 4 lock downs so far. Lock downs are not "normal life"

    I don’t think many people have said it was over as in gone and done. I also don’t think anyone believes COVID will ever go away. I’m pretty sure most people that say this are more or less suggesting it’s a virus we will have to learn to live with. I personally don’t think it will ever end.

    Truth and Justice is a Brit. They had many more lockdown orders than we did. And yes, there's been several countries, including the UK, that have cancelled flights to several southern African countries because of the variant, not because of label shortages. We are restricting flights from there too, starting tomorrow.

    Gotcha. I'm trying to quell the nonsense that this is a plandemic plot by the democrats to destroy the earth, or whatever silliness is being spewed. Obviously, people from the UK wouldn't hold that belief, so it doesn't apply.

    Cheers!

    A South African doctor said he's seeing Omicron as causing much milder disease than previous variants. People are getting one or two days of sore muscles and fatigue, then they recover. They aren't coughing, and aren't losing the sense of smell.

    Maybe finally the virus mutated to a more infectious but also milder form, which would actually be good news.

    It basically turns it into something akin to the common cold, right? That would be fantastic. I think that also would put us on pace to get through it faster than they did in 1919.

    A Belgian confirmed case, a young adult female, is unrelated to travel to any Southern African country or any known contact with someone from there. She did travel 11 days prior to showing symptoms, to Egypt via Turkey. Of course, in her travels, she may have crossed passengers in airports that were coming from Southern African countries. Or else, the variant is in Turkey and/or Egypt, undetected.

    The bottom line is, in the next few days we'll see more and more countries confirming cases, and then we'll start to see cases that are 100% unrelated to the Southern region of Africa, as the variant starts to spread locally in community settings in other countries.

    Of course the travel restrictions are more political than epidemiological.

    If the young woman did not have anything to do with Southern Africa, maybe there is still another possibility: that she acquired it not in her travels 11 days ago, but in Belgium itself. So, are we about to ban travel from Belgium?

    The whole thing seems like an exercise in futility, and political posturing.

    The only way a travel restriction can work, is if it is a full travel ban (not merely a restriction) with no exceptions, meaning closed borders by air, land, and sea, including to citizens of the country, unless they undergo strict and monitored quarantine. Even that is likely to fail. New Zealand did that, and avoided outbreaks for a long time. But they are an island (actually, two main islands) with a small population. Uruguay did that and avoided an outbreak for a while... but the virus ended up coming in anyway, likely through less watched land borders with Brazil.

    In the United States, a full travel ban with fully closed borders is impractical and likely impossible to enforce and monitor. So these travel restrictions are nothing more than political posturing.

    I call Bull **** on your title. Doctors actually treating folks report symptoms about the same as those broadly experienced from vaccination and no real signs of breakouts among the vaccinated.

    FAKE NEWS PROPAGANDISTS IN SERVE OF DEMOCRAT POLITICAL INTERESTS ABC/NBC Most Concerned With How Omicron Variant Hurts Biden’s Agenda.
    America tires of these idiotic ass wipes.

    We all remember early March of 2020:

    Chuck Todd: Coronavirus Can Be to Trump Like Iran Hostages Were to Carter.

    ‘She’s actually smiling:’ MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace and guest discuss coronavirus that could become ‘Trump’s Katrina.’

    “In short, Katrina gives them a way to talk about Iraq without talking about Iraq. No wonder Gwen Ifill smiles the ‘inner smile.’”

    Just think of the media as the official liars for the Democrat Party and it all makes sense.

    It Boggles my mind how the US Government is so lenient on important issues and then imposes vigorous mandates on the results.... The current US leaders really should not be trusted.

    https://www.reuters.com/world/us/us...esting-passengers-southern-africa-2021-11-29/

    U.S. does not impose new Omicron testing for passengers from southern Africa
    WASHINGTON, Nov 28 (Reuters) - U.S. health officials have not imposed any new screening or tracing requirements in response to the newly discovered Omicron COVID-19 variant that prompted the Biden administration to restrict travel from southern Africa...

    No cases of the Omicron variant were identified in the United States as of Friday, the CDC has said. But infectious disease expert Dr. Anthony Fauci said this weekend it was likely already in the United States.

    The CDC said Friday it expects to identify the B.1.1.529 variant quickly if it emerges in the United States.

    Yesterday, our Northern neighbor confirmed several Omicron cases, thus, most likely, Fauci is right.....”already in the U.S.”

    South African Dr Angelique Coetzee first raised the alarm over the Omicron variant and says the rest of the world is over-reacting.

    "Patients I've seen had mild symptoms and recovered. None were admitted and no oxygen was needed. The hype makes no sense to at all."

    Other quotes from Dr. Angelique Coetzee;

    1. Her Omicron confirmed cases were all healthy patients.

    2. She was worried that the new Variant could still hit older people with comorbidities, such as; Diabetes, heart disease.

    Note; South Africa’s percent of Seniors; Less than 6%

    Note; Compared to South Africa, and most nations, U.S. has a very high rate of Obesity, Diabetes, and heart disease.

    And for anyone’s info;

    UK’s Delta Case Fatality Rate; .33%,
    UK’s Original Covid Case Fatality Rate; Over 3%

    Thus, UK’s Delta Variant, significantly less deadly than original Covid, and other variants.....However;

    Florida’s original Covid Case Fatality Rate; 1.75%
    Florida’s Delta Variant Case Fatality Rate; 1.65%

    Florida’s Delta/Original Covid CFRs....NEAR AT PAR!

    Conclusions;

    1. Other than Dr. Coetzee’s dozens of healthy Omicron patients, and if said Variant becomes a pandemic, it will take months to affirm Omicron’s infection rates, Hospitalization Rates, and Death rates.

    2. Mild elsewhere, however, likely more severe in the U.S.

    Last, we’ve all been wrong once, twice, several times, experts included.

    No, covid is real but that doesn't exempt it from being used as a political football to be used to advance an agenda. And it has...

    The agenda being ?

    Don't tell me Japan started a worldwide movement to get Trump out of office. Japan would never have agreed to do that. Japan is about looking after Japanese people.
