    Holiday Survival Strategies.
    Please share yours.

    Holiday Depression is my usual.
Can't stand all the plastic Happy, Happy, Happy.

Trying a new trick this year.
I ordered my sheepskin slippers delivered by FedEx today.
But, it is officially my package from Santa to be opened
    Christmas Day morning.

    Imagine My Surprise

Do YOU have any strategies to share?
    Please do.

Make sure the AC is functioning properly and do the dance to ensure the fridge doesn’t collapse.

We do not use AC in December in Maine lol, most of my relatives have passed on, creating less issues to cope with lol

Oh I am a horrible shopper. I don't even pretend to try. Unless I am truly inspired to get you something specific (which seldom happens at Christmas) you are getting a bag of regifted junk from work and a card with cash. Maybe a few regifted lottery tickets or gift cards from work as well.

    Bah! Humbug.

I live on the other side of the country from all my family, so I just pretend the holidays don't exist.

Except for eggnog, which I put in my coffee from the day they start selling to the day they stop.

I celebrate whatever day it is that its warm enough to start living outside again.

Yep. It has been cool here in SE Australia until the last few days. AC has been on during the day.

It's still so strange to be that it's summer time at Christmas there. Get those ACs going. If it's anything like where I live you need them.

So I'm curious what do Christmas decorations look like today I mean Chris is a European thing and everybody sees to celebrate the European style but is there like pine trees and snow? People always put snowman out in their yards here where I live but it doesn't snow here.

And I'm also curious about this one does it ever get cold in Australia?

Yep, it does get cold. Tasmania has a cooler climate than the other states and there is winter skiing in the Australian Alps.
My city, Melbourne, gets cold - down to zero sometimes and snow in the nearby Dandenong ranges sometimes, but nothing like the blizzards which close down cities for days.

we have Christmas trees and generally decorations lean toward the European style. Father Christmas sometimes tends BBQs or goes surfing.

That's interesting I know here in my state it doesn't snow here often in my part of the state but once or twice every decade.

Zero degrees I assume you're talking Celsius so we've had it below zero or 32 Fahrenheit sometimes here it seems to happen once a year but it doesn't stick around long. But yeah we have snowman scenes as decorations for Christmas never seem to make sense to me.

So I'm also curious about the traditions you said barbecue it's not cold here per se but the weather isn't nice. So we don't do a lot of outdoors stuff. So I'm curious about Christmas traditions are there Christmas beach parties? Of course it's going to involve outdoor stuff because that's the weather for it.

A Christmas barbecue would be fun.

The beach features largely in Christmas holidays.

many people bbq their Christmas dinner - prawns, crayfish, oysters, fish etc and have salad. Asian salads and cold noodles are popular.

I like a trad meal myself but my family isn’t as enthusiastic about the work involved in a roast- chicken or turkey usually, a ham and all the roast veg and gravy.
Christmas pudding with custard, cream, ice cream or hard sauce. Yum!
All very hard going when the temperature can be 40C despite the AC roaring its heart out. I prefer to eat inside because I loathe the flies.

That's interesting I guess you know a lot about Christmas here because there are so many movies.

Thanks for sharing maybe one day I'll get to have a Christmas in Australia. Sounds like fun.

    Merry Christmas to you.
