Should the media be an advocate for democracy?

The news did not invent Trump's coup. Trump invented the coup. Organized, planned, directed. He watched the violence for three hours without doing anything. A criminal act of negligence.

 

Do you really think Trump and his advisors thought breaking into the capital and scaring the hell out of Congress would work towards what he wanted, which was to hold up certification of the transfer of power till an investigation of voter fraud was done? It was stupid of Trump to think that a big crowd would change their minds. He should have allowed things to go through and then demanded a through investigation of voter fraud. I don't think he felt anyone had really done that. They just fluffed it off.

He did not. This he tweeted about an hour and 30 min. after his speech and the people started their march on the Capital. It was later he made a video and told the people to go home.

Yet he was well liked by many including Democrats. Was even a Democrat for a long time. Wasn't till he became President it all turned to hate. The Left was calling for his impeachment even before he was sworn in.

From the very beginning they were to only protest. He told them to be peaceful and mind the Capital police and they didn't, did they? Why did the bias news leave that part out of the time line and say he said nothing for over three hours? They did it for 4 years, only tell you half the story, or none at all. No matter how hard Baier tries to get the stench from working at Faux off of him he can't help being tainted by working for a garbage dump of a network spewing lies 24/7.

 

Honorable people measure truth by how what is said matches what they have done. It doesn't become good or bad, true or false based on what someone else did.

The idea that someone else told an untruth so my telling untruths is irrelevant.... is not the invention of the left, but in today's world- they own it.

It's a toss-up for me whether those are victims of propaganda or, as you say, the victims of a religious cult. I tend to believe it might be both.

 

I couldn't care less what he's charged with. That's up to attorneys. So long as he does prison time it makes no difference to me.

BTW, I believe "defraud elections" is a slap on the wrist compared to the rest of the crimes he has committed. I want to see him charged with bank fraud, obstruction of justice, perjury, ... a life of crime that he needs to be held accountable for, if we are to still lay claim to being a country of laws.

 

Trump wasn't elected to be "liked" by political hacks or lefties. Trump was the American voters giving these folks the middle finger.

Which is amazing to me, because I would have thought that about 99% of what Trump DID was negative. So, according to your numbers, it looks like the press actually held back on reporting on some of his egregious acts as President. Or maybe a 24 hour news cycle is just not enough to keep up with reporting on a President as lousy as Trump.

Democracy isn’t worth defending. A republic is. A full blown democracy is no model anyone wants and is often more Tyrannical than a monarch.
